i taught my papillon how to go into the cage, sit, stay, not take a treat, watch tv, run with me, be alert, give the paw, and open her cage door. But just today she just jumped off the brick wall i have outside my house!! Oh, also to get in the car.
hey every one i have videos on how to teach your dog to sit and roll over my name is SsTtAaRrBbUuRrSsTtZz i know its alot to write but check out my vids plzzzz thnx bye!!!!!!! dont forget to comment and tell me how i did
Depending on what you count as a command, I'd say mine knows about 9ish? Basics, sit stay down up come. Speak gets a loud bark, "say please" gets a throaty grumble or a whine depending. She waits to get her food or to come in the house from outside until told, so maybe those are commands, or just good manners? Never have been able to teach roll over, I was shown the "push" assisted teaching by a friend, but that works much easier I think if the dog is not 90+ lbs like mine! And she hated it.
Oops - I did the pushing thing, but the resistance I got made me think I was doing it wrong. Momo is my first dog to raise and the puppy phase was / is maddening. He's a year old and a quick learner, when I do it right. We've managed: sit, stay, shake, high five, upstairs, potty on command (as much as it can be), crate, mat (he has 3 choices of where to go), herd the cat back inside, leave it, fetch, off (we're Almost 100%) and 'ah ah' (no). I figure we're ready for a new trick. Maybe.
I have used your videos as supplements to current training and new trick ideas to teach on my own. I have had my rescue Boxer for a bit over three months. I have taught him using books, training at Petco, and you tube videos (many of yours). He knows how to walk loose leash, sit, lay, stand, stay, come, settle, thank you (bow--treat dependent still), learning play dead, and just introduced sit pretty. he runs an average of ten miles (sometimes more or less) a week with me.
whoa whoa whoa hold up your now a mind reader... you said you were reading his thoughts at 1:51 hahahaha I wish I could read my dogs thoughts I'd get a kick outta that
@kordugum4 Mine is a licker, too. We correct him by using that annoying 'ah ah' sound b/c my kiddo gets a mean rash from the slobber. I've read many reasons for it. They're 'tasting' you (and thereby smelling), they're submitting to you, they're showing affection . . . lots of reasons. Another way we discouraged unwanted licks was to reward him for kisses. That way he only licks when there's a reward. He's still a pup, though, and it's just in their nature so it's a constant training subject.
@shyanha Thnks for that... Yeh i know his 2 months and 1 week and is it true that up to 6 months u can teach them wateva and afta that period of time he stops learning bcz his growing?
@kordugum4 No it's not true that your dog stops learning. In fact, I think it makes life-long learning easier when you have laid that groundwork of teaching your dog in early puppyhood... they learn that working with you is fun and rewarding if you're doing it right and praising them. That doesn't just stop because they reach a certain age.
@digigoose im taking my dog to dog training on the 14th on jan but this is the one were u teach them house training how to behave and stuff then im going to go to trick school.
@kordugum4 Sounds great! Be patient, practice often. Back up to an easier step when you need to. Good luck! (and speaking from personal experience, if you don't like the trainer you get, or don't agree with the way the person teaches - don't be afraid to leave the class and find another!)
I'm a new subscriber! I'm trying to teach my chihuahua/yorkie/jack russell how to do tricks, but she is sooooooooooo distracted! We do know sit, stay, and down though!
I just started training my Chihuahua one month ago. She is not reliable 100% with any commands yet. She does "sit", "down", "come", "stay" (with "sit" mostly, sometimes with "down"). She still really doesn't understand "stand" or "stand/stay". I've started trying "watch me" and "give". I can get her from "sit" or "down" to turn her head all the way to her back, but she won't roll over, she'll usually just get up & circle.
@MonkeeKitty hey @MonkeeKitty what u have to do first is train it to remember its nae first this makes it easier for your dog to learn and respond better to the tricks you try showing her and what i did to teach my dog to remember his name is to hold a a treat by your chest and then say her name and at the same time raise it by your nose

I'm hoping this video will help me how to train my boxer to rool over and play dead. So far, he already knows sit, shake (he knew those before we got him), stay, come, lie down, up (from lie down to sit), and stand (from sit to on all 4s). Hopefully, now he will know 9 tricks! Thanks for the help! :)
My dog is another very food motivated pup. He is so much that I can reward him with his daily food on basic commands such as, sit, stay, lay, and come. Though this cause a bit of a problem with roll over for myself. He is so focused on the food that when I attempt to lure him to roll over on his side, he jumps up and repositions. I have tried with his frisbee, but he still attempts the same move and he also is not as interested. I am also having trouble with heeling while we walk/jog.
My dog is VERY food motivated, which has made it easy to teach him new tricks. After mastering the "sit" "down" "roll over" and "dance", i noticed that he almost always sneezes after eating the first few treats when he's really excited, so I worked on sneezing on command. When I noticed he was about to have a sneeze, i'd say "gesundheit!" and then reward with another treat and lots of positive attention. It's now my favorite little trick, and love that he "understands my german". :)
My family has had two dogs. One passed away two years ago. The dogs knew basic commands such as sit, stay, down, heel, but the only trick they know how to do is shake. my family has just decided that it's time to get another dog. We're getting an American Eskimo puppy, about 10 weeks old. I want to be in charge of training it, and I've always wanted to teach my dogs how to roll over. I want to teach my dog several tricks, I'm just not sure how, and I can't afford obedience training. Help!
my husky is 2.5 years old--rescued one year ago. He knows all the basics--come, sit, stay, lie down.. And a bit of advanced tricks such as crawl, bow, high-five, shake hand, other hand, circle (some people call it "spin") and wave. He knows the command "no!" and the word has been multifunctional for me. I don't need to teach him how to "leave it" because he will leave anything with one "no!". HOWEVER, roll over is just one trick he never gets ._. mayB I did something wrong? =(
Hund is a three and a half month old lab-shepherd mix. He knows Sit, Down, Stay, high five, and shake. I am trying to teach him to play dead, but he isn't co-operating ._.
Excellent video, was just watching another video where the guy used a e-collar to get his dogs attention. Didn't like that so much. You seem to be friends with your dog, they seem to want to do it for fun, enjoyment, I like that would love to do that with my dog!
My mutt, Luna, is almost 1 and a half years old and she knows around 20 different behaviors but I could never get her to roll over! I've tried and tried, and I really can't get her to do it. She just doesn't want to get on her back. I will hold a treat by the side of her head and try to lure her onto her side, but she just sits up to get the treat. I honestly have no idea what to do. She has no interest in toys, so I just don't know how to train it! Do you have any advice?
@CarlitosWayz12 Use a treat, Place it in front of his nose to get him/her interested. Once he seems to lock on the treat, raise up your hand. This will cause your dog head to look/move up. Naturally, your dog will sit down and that is when you give the command right after your dog sits and treat him.
Keep doing for about 15-20 mins everyday, 3-5 days and your dog should be ready to sit on command.
My dog is 1.5 years old, he's a Rodesian Ridgeback. He knows sit, stay, shake, lay down, crawl, and get in the car. Hopefully soon he'll know roll over thanks for the video.
I was trying to teach my dog how to play dead. I got very impatient cos he wasnt getting after about 60 tries. I feel like a jerk :( thanks for the tip to give it time
I am 13, and my dog Is 3. His name is rocky, and he is a boxer. He knows how to Sit, Lay down, Shake, other paw (shaking with other paw), speak, jump, wait (stay), leave it (don't mess with it or touch it), crawl, and spin. When he was first learning spin, he just walked in a circle, but now he jumps in a half circle in the air which is really cool! :) he also knows how to catch a treat in the air. So he knows 11 tricks. I always wanted him to roll over, but when he lays down, he just follows t
I've just started watching this video, and is need of help with basic training, my dog's a jack russell 4months old. and doesn't know that much of the tricks or training, as i want him to play dead, high five, crawl and roll over..
I have a nearly 2 year old Tibetan Mastiff. She is my first dog that I've taught tricks and I thought she was the smartest dog in the world when I taught her shake, hahah. Now she knows, Shake, High Five, Down, Up, Sit, Stay, Crawl. I decided Roll Over would be a good next step, this video really helped! Thank you :)
I just watched this video, so I'll tune back in, in about a week or so with my results. Kaine is my dog and he just graduated from obedience training, he knows his name, sit, stay, lay down, and he plays well. Im looming forward to teaching him new things such as play dead and roll over! Thanks for The for video!
Golden Retriever, 4 months old, knows sit, stand, down, right paw, left paw, high five, speak, quite, leap, bring it, take it, drop, his name, come, stay, and release. He is my first dog and I have never trained before. I learned all of it through research and some videos.
@TheCheese2001 The main thing I have noticed with dog training is just HAVE PATIENCE . He will get the hang of it if you take enough time with him . My dog is quite young ( under a year in human years ) and he has already learned obedience and simple commands like stay and move . Never lay your hand on a dog , make them be your best friend not your dog .
dancer my girl corgi knows sit wait show me the belly which is our version of roll over for her mutt because she was in a movie bark tango knows the same things also down
I can't seem to get my dog to focus on any commands or even rewards because he recently developed the habit of chasing shadows and has light/play OCD - how do I cure him??? NEED HELP!!!
I have a pittbull named buddy. He recently only turned four months. He knows how to sit, shake with both paws, high five with both paws, sometimes stay, and he knows lay down. I've been trying to teach him play dead but its not working so well so ill try it your way. Thanks :)
Can I just say, I couldn't teach Buddy (my Beagle) to rollover for anything. Today I watched this video and he's finally got it. Great instructional, thanx!!!
Thanks for the tips! My pup knows sit, shake (right paw), paw (left paw), down, roll over, speak, stay, and potty (a little spotty, but it's typically within about 10 seconds of the command). We're going to start working on play dead today!
my 4 year old lab knows to speak, sit, lie down ,sit pretty and how to give both paws.. but recently i just got a new pup hes bout 2 months old and im gonna use ur techniques to train him
so far he noes to sit and give paw and i only had him bout a week
Our dogie knows, how to sit, lay down and shake paw! We're trying to teach him roll over but we were rolling him over ourself, so we will try this method now! Thanks
My dog is a 1 year old shih tzu/yorkie/long-haired chihuahua mix and she's picks up remarkably fast. She can sit, high-five, wave, stay, get a toy on command wherever it may be, spin, and calm down (which she needs because she gets VERY hyper!).
Hello! Thanks for the videos. My pug chihuahua mix, Pepper is 8 months. She can do sit, stay, stay with her good in front of her, down, go to your bed, as well as shake hands. Still trying to work on stay at/from a distance.
hey.. I have a black lab and nl mix. He's 11weeks. Already he knows sit, stay. stay with food in front of him, roll over. stay with treat on his paw, leave it, come when call'd...and give paw, lay down
My dogs knows how to sit, speak, stay, lay down, shake hands and I tell her specifically which hand to shake with, high fives, i also hold both hand behind my back hide the snack and tell her which hand its in and she will pick one and if its not in that one she will pick the other one (Personally funny), and she only eats the treet if i tell her "ok"
I hve no problem teaching my little Shih Tzu the tricks however i find it difficult to transition to be able to make it a command - he very much watches my hand movements so i have to be close and yeah - maybe just more practice ?
my 4 month old rottweiler knows his name , sit , down , paw, other paw , sit pretty , roll over , play dead , put his head all the way down , stay , to do crosspaw , and a few others :) . clicker training is the best method to train a dog.
one of my 4 dogs know sit lay down roll over jump gimmy 5 and one idk how to say in english but ... he simply gets up on his 2 back legs and stays like tht ... =) the weird thing is that i neve thought him the rool over i just said roll over and spin my finger and he did it XD i love him
my golden is three months old, i've had him for 3 weeks on the dot- and he knows sit, down, off, fetch, drop, go to bed, food, treat, box (when hes rolled over he hits my hands like we are boxing), no bark, speak, special treat (pigs ear), where's your toy, want to go for a walk, good boy/ bad boy, tooth brush time, grooming time, bath time, and almost stay! He seems to learn after 3-10 reps.
Hey man love your videos. My dog knows stay, sit, give me paw, give me five, laydown, go fetch, bring it back, and up. Now I would love to teach him these two tricks. I hope thise works with Yoshi.
My dog knows 91 commands :) She's been training and having fun since the first moment, but we always want to learn more and we are, my other dog who is 7 weeks old knows like 5 commands, sit, stay, shake, come, down well i have my dog at 7 weeks because i own the mom :D And he's gonna be a really aewsome performer i dind't take more than 1 decent session on each trick, because he's young and i don't want to ask for too much but anyway he focused and learned haha it's really impresive to show! :)
Hey! I enjoyed your video and cannot wait to go try it with my 1 1/2 year old wolf dog, Jericho. Actually, his grandma was a wolf, so he is second generation which was mixed with German Shepherd/Lab/Chow. I posted a video above of one of his crazy antics. What would you recommend to get him to listen once he steals? He is so good until he gets away with something, and me laughing probably doesn't help. He knows sit, stay, down, up, relax, high five, shake, and sometimes drop. Clearly not now...
she knows 3 tricks i am still new to this :( 1.sit 2. lie down 3. twirl (stands on hind legs and twists around in circles however many times you ask) she for the most part just taught herself lol
i need help! every time i try to get my dog on her side using a treat she stands up instead. ive tried so many times but she just wont go on her side!!
Love your videos! My dog knows about 20+ tricks/ commands. My problem is my dog will sometimes go through all of the tricks she knows without me asking her to when she is excited. I ignore her when she does this. How do I get her to stop?
My dog knows how to sit, shake with the right and left paw, praise (stand up on his hind legs and wave his arms above his head) lie down, and rollover :)
Great advice! My dachshund Buddy knows sit, stay, shake, lie down, dance, turn around (both directions), up, down, roll over, push (to close drawers), jump (through a hoop), weave, drop it, leave it and play piano. Our weakest trick is come.
@TheAGdollLuvr thanks. i kno. i REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY want 1. i think i will. pray for me!!!! i heard somewhere that god answers prayers from people for people not for themselves so yeah if your catholic or jewish or muslim or believe in god pray for me plzz
ive been tryin for a while now to get my dog to everything in this video, she already knows how to sit, lay down, and stay. for some reason though she does not like to lay on her side for some od reason and suggestions?
I have an 11wk old Eskimo Puppy, She can Sit, Lay Down, and Speak. She does get Down, and Speak mixed up though. When she goes down, she'll bark anticipating what I'm going to tell her next kind of thing.
My dog is 3 months old, german shep, and she already knows sit, stay, down, back up. I'm going to try to teach her to roll over now. She's very smart!
Yes you can train a dog to learn such commands, it just depends how you intoduce them the command weather you teach em stay or attention its easy really
My cat knows sit, lay down, high five! Now I'm trying to get her giving me her paws so I can cut her claws XD. I'm also trying play dead with her, but it's not like a dog, I have to do freeshaping, takes longer...
My dog is such a fast learner, it makes me happy. :DD
And he's super old too! Who says old dogs can't learn new tricks!!

My dog cant even sit...
CarlitosWayz12 2 months ago 2
@CarlitosWayz12 Use a treat, Place it in front of his nose to get him/her interested. Once he seems to lock on the treat, raise up your hand. This will cause your dog head to look/move up. Naturally, your dog will sit down and that is when you give the command right after your dog sits and treat him.
Keep doing for about 15-20 mins everyday, 3-5 days and your dog should be ready to sit on command.

Thank you :)

my dog knows sit,stay,stand,jump,fetch,and lay.
TheCheese2001 3 months ago
@TheCheese2001 The main thing I have noticed with dog training is just HAVE PATIENCE . He will get the hang of it if you take enough time with him . My dog is quite young ( under a year in human years ) and he has already learned obedience and simple commands like stay and move . Never lay your hand on a dog , make them be your best friend not your dog .

@clarizamae09 thats good you should teach your dog highfive its really easy to teach and it takes about 20 minuets to master
