  • cant crash my calc, can it?

  • I really wanted to punch you in the face when you put the code in wrong twice in a row

  • how long does it take to get trough the whole game?

  • I have the TI-84+, and you can't make pixels different grayscales..? I can only turn them on and off...

  • I'd really love to make a game for the ti 83/84 + but have no idea how I would go about doing it, where should I start?

  • I wish I could do this :(

    The graphics look amazing!

  • There is a lot of locked doors...

  • Despite all the gor it's almost like pokemon

  • Honestly, I didn't enjoy this game. The graphics were incredible but the gameplay was unfortunately broken.

  • Very much enjoyed this video. Wish I had this game on my TI83 back in the day. =)

  • Pfft this is nothing compared to what the ti nspire can do now.. Ndless 1.7 just came out and I'm playing Pokemon Crystal on my calculator

  • hahahha this would make class so much more interesting, especially on a permitted calc

  • can you increase the harddisk size of your calculator

  • Need help it won't launch i archived desdata and desolate and it appears in mirageOS but it just won't launch help me plz

  • can anyone help me please, it won't launch from mirage os. Or am i doing something wrong?

  • That is SO COOOL.......... Holy CRAP.

I want one of these stupid graphing calculators now!!!

  • is the sequel out yet?

  • Awesome game, but it keeps lagging on my TI84+ :(

  • makes my think of system shock when i play with all the logs and keypads and being in space and all... blah

  • The graphics are VERY impressive and the controls responsive, and there's definitely some meaty backstory, considering the platform.

The one thing about this game that REALLY gets on my nerves is the repetition involved in unlocking the NUMEROUS doors - and if you forget the code, you might have a long walk ahead trying to find the combo again. I'd rather just have to enter a particular level code ONCE, and let the game handle it from that point on.

Otherwise, this is an amazing TI title.

  • Evidently my memory sucks; I didn't even watch the video and haven played the game in a few months.

It's still annoying to have to look at an item to recall the lock code.

Also (and this is just me being really picky), there are numerous minor grammatical errors. Perhaps a new version will fix them? :)

  • where can I download this?

  • tiwizard in rpg section

i finish this today and i had an awnsome time but i had to draw each room so i wouldnt get lost in the middle of this maze duck idol does plus 3 others useless itens are needed to see an extended ending wonder what would it be this game has a lote of rooms xD

  • wen does sequel come out?

  • OMG I CANT BEAT THIS WHERE DO I GET THE POWER CELL TO ACTIVATE THE GUIDANCE SYSTEM TO WIN. wtf do i do with the duck idol

  • i drew a map on paper lol...

since all the rooms are the same size... they all match up!

  • i drew a map too.... screw AP statistics, desolate is more important.

the problem was that it isnt like a big rectangle, the paths through to each rooms are different and my map ended up awkward looking. i actually managed to beat this yeseterday

  • nice!!

    congrats lol

some rooms are abit weard... most fit perfectly...

i think some on the west side are either 2 rooms fit in 1... or the is an empty spoot...

but ya... i not only draw rooms... i also draw what the room looks like in general..

    dead bodies and stuff

  • Door locked...level 1 access code required.

Door locked...level 1 access code required.

Door locked...level 1 access code required....

  • LMAO this person is dead he seems to be holding something u pick up a data carriage LMAO

  • Featuring Detailed Story With Exotically Capitalized Character Monologue And Questionable Grammar

  • I lol'd.

  • Tell me where to get this game please.

  • do i have to do anything special to get this to work on an 84+? mirageOS doesnt recognize it so i cant run it :( helps plz

  • Yea you probably shouldn't buy it just for the games. But I have to buy one for school so it's cool you can play games on it

  • well i need the TI-84+ for school, so kwl that i can play games on it 2

  • i required in my school and its fun to make study hall teacher think your doing math

  • actually a ti-84 plus silver edition only costs about $100

  • Nice. I can get a calculator for about 5$ at the dollar store

  • So basically the game is about entering access codes, yes?

  • Seems like it. Pointless.

  • NICE!!!!

  • this is an amazing game, im totally going to learn ti-asm now...

  • Yes, it's true

    tr1p1ea IS MY BROTHER!

  • I downloaded the program to my calc, with both the program and the data, but it doesn't show up in my MirageOS... What did I do wrong?

  • Is assembly really that space efficient... im making an RPG on my calculator which is already 40000+ bytes (split into 5 programs). When you need to change areas, it breaks the program and you have to archive-unarchive manually... oh and my game has NO GRAPHICS (besides a map). and graphics take up A LOT of space from what i have experienced. So.... how do you do something like this within such small constrains? must i learn assembly? -_-

  • Assembly is quite complicated, but it compiles into hexadecimal machine code.

Maps are everything in assembly programs can be compressed and decompressed due to the speed of assembly.

For larger games like RPGs, it is a good idea to try and learn assembly, but that tedious language is not for everyone.

You can downsize assembly programs by using existing libraries (like those in Ion and Mirage OS) for things like random numbers and displaying sprites, instead of writing your own routines.

  • actually I heard some ASM programmers saying that making RPGs, specifically traditional RPGs with full of data, it can be a total hassle, simply because of all the text, data and variables to handle, not to mention the file size (if you don't want a <5 hours long RPG) and I think one even recommended that the game is done in BASIC and only use ASM for the stuff involving graphics and maybe compression/decompression (to save space on map data, for example). Prbly why there are so few ASM RPGs

  • i heard that assembly progs may damage the calculator. is it true? i dont want to risk 120$ just because of a game...

  • no they can't, unless you have a Silver Edition model with OS under 1.15, which has a glitch that lets you group archived programs (causes the calc to lock up and not even a OS reinstall nor a memory reset will fix it). Or if you get a blue screen and the LCD starts leaking, remove a battery within at least the first minite this happen, to not have the LCD be damaged (usually contrast becomes lower in certain areas)

  • In #omnimaga channel on IRC tr1p1ea announced he might start working on a 8 level grayscale version of this game. He even posted a screenshot in action

    img155. imageshack. us/img155/9763/test2uz5. gif

  • Wow! I hope the game is smaller this time (23000 bytes or less hopefully :P)

  • yeah tr1p1ea told us that the original was big because of crappy coding, which was due to Desolate being his very first ASM game ever. If he rewrote it it would be signifiantly smaller, even with 8 level grayscale tiles

  • That was his first game o.O

    Wow.

  • yeah I saw him join MaxCoderz forums in September 2003 then he became staff and I joined not long afterward and followed the entire progress since then. he had no previous games released, all he did were some small TI-BASIC programs. He had a very hard time with the 83+ version because he was running out of space, which is why it was released several months afterward, but he finally succeed by splitting the game in two programs.

  • when i put mine on my caclulator it was all blurry any ideas on what i should do

  • First, try changing the interupt frequency (it asks when you run the program).

Also, try ALCDFIX (Look in my videos, I have a video for that program)
