I love bookstores. But there are times that I need my book buying dollar to go further. And there are places I can achieve that: yard sales, flea markets, thrift stores & Amazon. I just can't justify paying many times as much for a book just because a local store will benefit.

the bookstore is a physical place, so if you go and ask for some book, they'll be like "we don't have it because our limited physical space is occupied by some other books". amazon is not a physical place, so they don't have that problem. they have, like, all the books ever. so now you know which is better.
