Our budget was really small when my husband and I got married. My mom made my dress (it's more special that way anyway). She also made our announcements and wedding cake. We got mostly everything from Dollar Tree or borrowed the big things like the trellis. For my bouquet, we just bought fake flowers and made the bouquet ourselves. I loved doing it that way because I didn't have to worry about keeping them fresh for the wedding and I can keep it forever. It's cheaper and cute home decor. :)

I used to sell Vera Wang wedding dresses and one tip for a bride would be if you are going shopping for a wedding dress, do not go shopping without a budget in mind! Also do not go shopping if you are not able to pay for a dress, or at least start a layaway program or some sort. I have seen so many brides heart broken b/c they could not afford/pay for for the dress they fell in love with, and either it was the last dress or we could not make it any more! Just something to think about:)

I'm getting married in March 2012 and you're exactly right rachel.. a lot of the drama/extra mess isn't really needed (especially in crunch time..)!

If anyone else (or Rach if you haven't already) Brides magazine has a countdown of what things you could be doing 12, 6 months 2 weeks etc before the wedding. That kept me on track because anything it didn't have I added it and already completed. It helped a lot!
