i opened my iphone because my headphone jack wasnt working, i fixed it and put it back together but then parts of the screen, the touch wasnt working. i opened it to see what was wrong and couldnt figure it out. so i just closed it back and now i try to turn it on , i just get a white blank screen. anyone know what wrong? ( i dont think i connected cable 3 but it still turned on)
thank you for this video. i opened up my iphone to replace the home button... repairing actually, and i kind of blurred on actual step to re assemble the phone. thanks thanks and thanks!
@MultiMixedMedia hope u got number 3 in. U have to push the Clip up at 45 degrees and hold the screen and slide it in. U don't have to slide a great deal in as mot all is suppose to slot in. Then close the clip shut which wedges it in.
Nice video - but I was looking to see how ribbon 3 was put in - thought it was from the bottom, but thanks to a commenter I see it's from the top. Nice tutorial - would have preferred close up on Ribbons 3, 2, 1 though. But thank you.
Is the screen display supposed to have a seal because I'm trying to pry it out but it's stuck? And if I do take it out am I supposed to have a back up seal for the screen if there is any/
@gega24 No, sadly it does not. I got a white replacement and am hoping to figure out how to change it over to a white rubber piece. This piece is also very easy to damage while changing the digitizer.

the bottom white portion of the #3 plug must be pried up into a 45 degree orientation..then slide the ribbon in from the top then push the white part back down til it sits flush with the rest of #3 plug. Then the #3 ribbon is "locked" in...not that hard...just this vid doesn't show it very well

@lucresio10 Step 1) Unlock the black latch (it opens up like a hinge). Step 2) Insert the Cable 3 (Note: You will still see the golden contacts of the cable even when the cable is fully inserted). Step 3) Now close the latch by turning it down.
HOW CAN I GET CABLE 1 IN!?!?!?!?!?! everything else is easy but number 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think it goes in but the screen doesn't turn on and it will easily come back out so i don't think i'm doing it right! does any one have some tips for me i really need to get it in!!

can u help me plz? my iphone 3g was havn this problem, wen u press down hard on the top part of the screen, it goes white, then u have to tap the back for it to go back 2 normal. so i ordered parts to open it up but when i did i didnt no u had to open it from the bottom 1st and i pull straight up and ripped up all the cables. i did notice that the thing hold connector 3 in wasnt pressed down. i put all cables bak like u said and i dont see anything on my screen. i can still hear it. plz help....
Ok I had the exact problem after I replaced my iPhone's housing. I knew that I had done everthing perfectly because iTunes still recognized my phone when I plugged it in. @flexdex2 i woke up the day after this and my screen was working again, but my home button wasnt... i couldnt get it to work. so i just bought a new phone :D
Hi. A few months ago I bought and replaced my iphone's digitazer. It worked ok, then the LCD went gray, I thought it was a matter of replacing it aswell sou I did that. Problem is the new one also appears gray all the time. What should I do now. Please help!
When putting cable 3 in flip the plastic part at the opposite end of the connector up. That opens the connector. Then it is easy to slide the ribbon cable in. Then push the plastic switch down.
My Sleep/Wake button doesnt function properly after i screw it in. When i press it, it just stays down and I cant hear or feel the button "click". Please someone help me :(
@CaTcHaFiShBiTcH ; I had the same problem. For Cable #3, there was a white line across the connector, I slid the cable in to the port until this white line was even with the end of the mainboard. Once I did this, I noticed that the mute slider would vibrate when toggled on/off. So, the phone had to be 'on'. I connected the phone to my computer and did a restore within iTunes. The screen (and buttons) started working. Best of luck everyone. It isn't for the faint of heart..
for cable 3 - there is a little white tab across the end of the thing that holds the cable - this can be flicked up which allows the cable 3 to slide in better - then you click the white tab down again to hold it in place
@zimtower - sorry about that... on my iphone the little flap is white. Several others have posted similar advice, so possibly something else was amiss or you have a newer version than I did! Again I hope your phone isn't totalled!
hi guys, ive just replaced my iPhone housing, ive got my phone all back together with the display working and everything. The only thing that isnt working is the home button, if someone has any advice on why it doesnt work could they message me? I didnt take apart the screen at all, just changed the housing. Any help would be much appreciated
Would anyone happen to know why only one part of my touch screen wouldn't work on my 3gs after replacing the LCD? The screen looks normal but one strip about half an inch all the way down the right side doesn't work.
2:28, im having a lot of problems with getting the power switch sturdy. whenever i screw it in, it doesn't stick out, it just kinda goes in. any advice would be very much appreciated!!!
@myzip it goes in at an angle and it doesnt go all the way in it stick a very small amount out and see if your i phone works. if not retry putting the cables back in
@myzip no it isnt a problem, try hard ware reseting it (hold power and home button till apple sign shows up and let go and see if it works) or just try to restore and see what happens
@myzip sorry for answering so late why dont you open it up again an remove the vibrator and put it back in (tighter) and theres a little tab at the end of the vibrator with metal pins and take that tab and push it up a little because it might not be contacting the motherboard and get the message. and make sure you tie down the mother board correctly
@myzip oh sorry your talk about the proximity sensor sorry i forget haha umm well i dont know what to say. it might be the adhesive that is blocking it or something. idk
It's true hear Apple shut down the leaked iPhone and they were'nt able turn it on
Most of you people Reading this comment simply can't buy the iPhone 4g, since it will be close to $500
But I learned on the Apple FB Fan Page earlier they are giving away a few thousand iPhone 4gs. Also, this is the link to their contest site ... just copy and paste
i installed a new battery and i got a flashing black screen. i thought i jacked something up like not connecting one of the connectors, but then i disassembled it, put the old battery back in, reassembled it and everything was back to normal. any thoughts?
i just reasembled my iphone 3g and it does not charge...it shows the low battery sign on screen and I put in my charger and it does not charge...can you help me?
@darkboarder297 you have to slide it into the socket which is quite tricky and then clip it by pressing down the small white or grey switch or tab or watevar u wanna call it
so i disassembled the iphone 3g and assembled it back together just to look inside. i made sure all the connectors were back in place.
now i can't turn on my phone. when i plug it into the wall charger, the apple logo appears for 2 seconds and then turns off. i tried to do a hard reset and it shows the "connect to itunes" logo and it stays there. the problem is when i disconnect the usb, the phone shuts off.
I plugged the phone into my laptop, but it won't start up either! help!!!
@MarranaPOTM slide the ribbon in under the black connection with the white flap making sure the white flap is still 45 degrees upward then when you can see the cable push the white flap back down, use a small flat head screwdriver if you cant reach the flap with your fingers
Hey i dis assemble my iphone and then put it back together and now when im making i can not hear anything till i put it in speaker any help with that would really appreciated
@xDavidr27x dissasemble again chech all ribbon cable connections are on firmly and perfectly, i use the fitting tool to push the connections together for reassurance
i need help on my 3g, i replaced the back cover, i put everything together, the phone is back on but the home button is not working at all. i don't know what i did wrong.

When the screen is by itself, it has that digitizer thing on it. Can that be removed from the glass if I were to get a new glass? Or do I have to get a new glass that comes with the digitizer thing.
I just opened my iPhone 3g in order to see if I could fix the mute button and I didn't mess with anything else. Cables 3, 2 and 1 are (or seem) well connected.
Now the iPhone doesn't turn on. Any ideas as to what may be wrong?
trust me dont mess with the #6 cable because i have took apart and reassembled many iphones and one time i decided to check out #6 and i broke it nearly even attempting to remove it,so my advice to you is don't do it. it is responsible for wifi connections and service reception i believe.
It helped me out...just fixed my 16G 3GS iphone. After dropping it into a cup of water, I thought my phone was done. I pulled it apart, not knowing what I was doing, but just wanting to dry it out. When I put it back together, everything worked, but the touch screen/digitizer. So I had my phone sitting in my room for the last 3 weeks, until this morning...I watched a couple videos and this one helped me realize I hadn't reassembled it correctly...LOL :)

for cable 3 - there is a little white tab across the end of the thing that holds the cable - this can be flicked up which allows the cable 3 to slide in better - then you click the white tab down again to hold it in place

@DarkSmart570
Also, this is the link to their contest site ... just copy and paste

shuaibA0 1 year ago
@darkboarder297 sameeeee :(
arahirst 1 year ago
@darkboarder297 you have to slide it into the socket which is quite tricky and then clip it by pressing down the small white or grey switch or tab or watevar u wanna call it

so i disassembled the iphone 3g and assembled it back together just to look inside. i made sure all the connectors were back in place.
now i can't turn on my phone. when i plug it into the wall charger, the apple logo appears for 2 seconds and then turns off. i tried to do a hard reset and it shows the "connect to itunes" logo and it stays there. the problem is when i disconnect the usb, the phone shuts off.
I plugged the phone into my laptop, but it won't start up either! help!!!

MarranaPOTM 1 year ago
@MarranaPOTM slide the ribbon in under the black connection with the white flap making sure the white flap is still 45 degrees upward then when you can see the cable push the white flap back down, use a small flat head screwdriver if you cant reach the flap with your fingers
lilvfr400boy 1 year ago
what if that white parts broken is there anything you suggest that i could use to replace that flap
cjerts3232 1 year ago
@cjerts3232 you can get some acetate paper cut a very thin strip and push it in with the ribbon, tape it in place and done

When the screen is by itself, it has that digitizer thing on it. Can that be removed from the glass if I were to get a new glass? Or do I have to get a new glass that comes with the digitizer thing.
RKhatkar34 2 years ago
You can get and change the glass by itself.

I just opened my iPhone 3g in order to see if I could fix the mute button and I didn't mess with anything else. Cables 3, 2 and 1 are (or seem) well connected.
Now the iPhone doesn't turn on. Any ideas as to what may be wrong?
fastcharlie 2 years ago
any help with cable #3? i can't slide it in all the way.
donovanknifeman 2 years ago
Where is the #6 cable connected too? Can't find it anywhere and need to buy one (checked on ebay)
soviet1942 2 years ago
trust me dont mess with the #6 cable because i have took apart and reassembled many iphones and one time i decided to check out #6 and i broke it nearly even attempting to remove it,so my advice to you is don't do it. it is responsible for wifi connections and service reception i believe.
