My PC has a AMD X2 5000+ 65Watts (I think) and a Nvidia 250 GTS 512 MB and a ASUS M3a78 Mother Board i have a 500 Watt PSU it gets kinda hot and sometimes my system slows down is my psu powerful enough or is it just my conponents?
why install vista? its a waste of time. as far as i am concerned once windows 7 is released to the pub vista is outdated. if your gona buy new pc parts might as well spend a little more on the new os. but if you have xp or in some cases an install disk for vista use them till 7 comes out then upgrade. also to all xp users 7 is backward compatible with some programs you run on xp. go to microsoft . com to find out more.
the calculator is not wrong, it assumes full load, so if you never run your PC at full load you would utilize the full 550W, also some Power supplyes with less wattage have terrific AMPS on the rails to supply the demand and are ok, so it varies on the PSU. this calculator (like others) are to be used as a guide.
hey i want to upgrade to win 7....right now i am using Vista Home premium 32 bit.....help me plz....i want to format my hdd and then install win 7.....tell me what drivers i need to install again????
i dont have any partitions of hdd right now...bt i want to make two......plzz help......and tell me the exact procedure plz.....i wanna do a fresh install...
Yeah I don't deserve a pc that drives me crazy every time I use it! Have you ever experienced a computer in which the task bar stops working and so does your wifi driver? Suddenly windows won't open and randomly stop responding. My laptop even ruined a flash drive! It's crazy and it always has random problems. It's so frustrating.
Had the some of the problems you mentioned with vista.Either install xp or win 7.I installed win 7 professional RTM and its the best operative system microsoft has come up with.I would say its better than xp too sinse i've used both xp and win 7 on he same pc and win 7 works better.
I got an AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core processor and my motherboard comes with MSI Dual Core Center i did find an overclocking option but there are also different options like "AV i dont know what that means, Game (my original cpu clock is 3.1GHz and it overclocks to 3.4GHz if i press it, Office makes it 2.7GHz, Silence goes to 2.5GHz but my fan still runs the same so doesnt make a difference and same for "Cool" makes my cpu 2.1GHz
idk my 9400GT stays at 40C idle when im on internet n stuff and around 70C MAX when full so since urs is 8600GT should have less heat and if u have a fan on ur gonna have even LESS temperatures. thats my guess im not a professional
Question number #2 if you're a gamer or use some sort of graphic intensive software go Vista or 7 right now. Just look up Directx 9 vs Dx10 (vista and 7 only) comparisons on google.
the components will die off quicker just like a car and milage if you turbo charge the engine it will wear the engine out and sooner or later it will die out
You only went over the precautions to overclocking, and not actually HOW to overclock, you know. I already know how to overclock; this is more for the people who want to know.
Thanks alot for that link! I were little suspicious that would my future rig run on 430W PSU.. Well it doesnt! =D Got any recommendations for 550W or bigger?
AMd is somewhat cheaper for the average gamer but either way you go, they are both good choices. If you got a good amount of money then I would go with the latest Phenom II x4 but if you got more than enough money for that, buy the best intel CPU on the market.
PCWizKid i have an AMD Athlon ll X2 250 how much did you overclock yours without having to change the voltage?
i managed myn at 3.4 GHz but scared to go higher, and i have the stock cooler that came with it and it stays at the same exact temps as it would without overclocking
@HumanOFtheWeek3000, did you run your CPU for hours at 100% load to ensure its stable? If not then odds are you WILL need to increase the voltage. @3.4Ghz this chip usually needs a voltage increase. Make sure you run stress tests for hours to see if it fails.
laptops are actualy undercharged (underclocked.... forgot the actual name) but this means it has lower voltage to make the system run cooler dont OC a laptop bc the cooling wont keep up and will fry your components ( i can speak from personal expiriences, my cuz laptop we tried it and...... only thing i can say not fun if you lost 2000 in the laptop good thing we lied and said it was there fault and got a refund)

Thanks

I love my E5200. It's really low budget but you can OC it to like 3.4 Ghz if you've got a proper cooler.

I think you could still push it a little harder if you wanted too. When I had one (r0 stepping), I got it to 3.73Ghz on a GA-965 board :D

Nowadays you need a 550 Watt PSU at the very least. Anything higher is even better. When it comes to custom builds its better to be safe then sorry.
