  • Asta la vista, serial HD

  • Sounds like darth vader!

  • @TheZetReviewer ok my issue is the money. im debating between the 13 inch vs the 15 inch. with the 13 inch i could buy 500gb ssd while in the 15 i couldnt because would be too expensive but the 5 has amd gaming card of 1gb. the 15 inch has 2.4 while the 13" has 2.8ghz. would it be worth it to buy the 13 and missing the amd graphing card? can you still play games as same as the 15? does the 2.8ghz makes a difference? which one shouldi get im confused plz reply!

  • is this a computer talking? or a human? sounds very strange

  • Good video. I am thinking of getting a Mac but a very old one for about 60-100 bucks and maybe just up grading it? Is it at all worth it??? Only need it for school for typing papers, and watching videos on YouTube and on hulu.com

  • what does the ssd even do?

  • very good video, you kind of sound like arnold schwarzenegger haha

  • GO TO 1:20 TO SEE THE WORK!!! THUMBS UP!

  • How much did the drive cost you.

  • @Kingisland32 I didn't pay for it, it was sent to me for this video but there is a link to where you can buy it in the description

  • Thanks mate that was really helpful.

  • Very, very nice video. The close ups of the internals were very helpful. I think you will go very far in technology reviewing!

  • @ASPCAfan Thanks, I appreciate it!

  • @TheZetReviewer do i have to use superduper if i buy a completely wiped macbook pro, only with os safari etc.?? please reply.

  • @98kawasakikx250 if you want the stuff on the old hard drive on the SSD then you need to clone the data with super duper

  • @TheZetReviewer makes sense. but i bought the MBP already wiped wit a normal ram and hdd, the is no data on it when i got it, if i just want to do the switch do i do wat u do in the video just not use superduper.

  • TheZetReviewer,

Did you say that the "enclosure" the SSD came in, will now take your Mac's HD and make it work as an external drive? 1:20 Do you have a link to this product and/or description of how that works?

    Great video here btw!

  • @jimmyh2o Yes it works as an external drive. It's very simple, you just put the hard drive in the enclosure and connect it. :)

  • Great video especially liked the graphs at the end.

I would like to know how the battery life has held up after the upgrade. With your massive performance improvements are you sacrificing battery life???

  • @horatiohornblower197 No, the battery life hasn't changed a bit :)

  • slow down when you talk. thanks

  • BSOD or any problems yet with your new Kingston SSD??

    Thanks

  • @erosaffinity115 No problems at all, everything runs like it should :)

  • What company is Better for ssd and ram, Kingston or OWC?

  • @marcosity428 Well I've never tested OWC so I have to say Kingston

  • What company is better for ssd and ram, kngs

  • Great!

  • wow, grate video bravo... ill defiantly be using this latter.

  • I'm waiting for my Mac Book Pro :) Will make a video later. Mine is $3100 everything maximum. 15 inch. Can anyone tell me why not to buy SSD drive directly from Apple? I did.

  • @VIPLeague It's just a lot more expensive :)

  • @TheZetReviewer What makes you think so? I paid $100 extra to upgrade it from 500GB 7200RPM HDD (which costs around $80 on Amazon. The total cost came out less than $200 for 128GB SSD that worth of $240 on the market.

  • @TheZetReviewer AND, don't forget that you already paid for HDD and now have to lose money OR time, if you deside to sell it. So you ended up paying even more.

  • @VIPLeague Yeah, in this upgrade that I did I got an SSD and an external hard drive, using the enclosure that came with the SSD for housing the HDD that came with the macbook :))

  • Thanks for this vid. I have a problem with mine. When I shut down the laptop it wipes my SSD clean! :(. Is there an issue with the SSD?

  • @falconer Yes that is most likely. Try contacting costumer support at the manufacture's website

  • My macbook pro came with Hitachi hdd.

  • @paimansli Yeah some of them come with Hitachi drives

  • this is the only tutorial on youtube about how to setup the ssd once its in the computer, favorited.

  • @aVEzPz Thanks! I'm glad I could help :)

  • Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Helped me a lot.

  • @Simoetable Thank you for the comment :)

  • Is that a 2.5" SSD replacement? The Kingston 256GB SSD is quite pricey. I got 256GB of Apple SSD in my 2010 MBP but thinking about swapping it over to the 2011 model and then just selling my 2010 model. Cheers for the vid, helped a lot.

  • @looneytune4u Yes this is a 2.5" SSD, I don't think there are any 3.5" SSD's but I could be wrong.

  • @TheZetReviewer Cheers. I kept seeing 1.8" models which confused me. I must have a 2.5" Apple model in my current MBP and was just wondering if it could be swapped to the new 2011 model? I'm sure it can? Definitely going to put the 500GB HDD from the new 2011 model in my 2010 model to resell it.

  • @looneytune4u You can easily swap it to the new MacBook Pro's :)

  • is this the late 2010 MBP or a much older model?

  • @jalyst 2010

  • @TheZetReviewer

Great thanks, thinking about buying the 2011 MBP 17"

But I don't want to pay anymore than the base price (apple rips you off if you do!)

I will upgrade my SSD and RAM later....

    Cheers

  • @jalyst Nice!

  • @TheZetReviewer

    yeah, "wallet murdering" too :)

  • @jalyst Hah, or wallet weight loss :D

  • Do you know if the process/parts are the same for the 15/17 models?

  • @BrassNB Yea, they look very similar.

  • How do you use the old HDD as media storage ?

  • @sk82GnR I just put it inside the enclosure that came with the SSD and it works immediately.

  • where did you buy your ram kit?

  • HDD FROM TOSHIBA!!!!!!?OMG APPLE CAN NOT MAKE HDD

  • @TheA7md2009 Hah, I guess not. They probably have some kind of a deal with Toshiba :p

  • @TheZetReviewer SO NOT ALL INTERNAL COMPONENT IN APPLE PRODUCT MADE BY APPLE ITSELF

THIS IS REALLY BAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT STILL I LOVE APPLE PRODUCT THANK Y0O0O0O0O0O0O0OU

  • @TheA7md2009 in my iPod classic 4th generation there was also a HDD from toshiba, and when i took a macintosh powerbook laptop apart the LCD was from samsung and the HDD was from toshiba

  • can you send me a link with the hard drive in the kinston website or in amazon?

  • @g3orgeapp solid state drive*

The links are in the description :)

  • You can also use a datadoubler, which allows you to remove the superdrive and replace it with a box of the same size. You put your hard drive into the box and hook it all up, and voila, 2 hard drives in one macbook pro!

  • Great video, I have a question about demagnetizing. In so many videos, people stress the importance of demagnetizing yourself and the macbook pro before opening it up. Why did you not do this? Also what is demagnetizing, and what does it prevent?

  • @daviddalziel I did mention that you should ground yourself to discharge static electricity from your body.

Your body often has a small electrical charge running trough it and when you touch a big piece of metal or a person you will get a little electrical shock. If you don't ground yourself you could pass the current to the components inside the computer and that will very easily destroy or "fry" the component.

  • @TheZetReviewer how do you do that?

  • i didn't know you are a mac user? Wait kingston send you the stuff to review! Did you get to keep it? its an expensive SSD so thats really cool if they did.

  • @TechTubeCentral Thanks for the comment. Yes I got to keep it. :)
