I have no objections in principle to a socialist society. My only complaint is that (and Karl Marx would be the first to agree with me here) you can plan out in great detail how a hypothetical socialist society would work, and still encounter serious problems in practice. The details have to be left to democratic experimentation, only broad principles need be thought out in advance. It's all academic right now, anyway.

i think my country, switzerland, comes pretty close to your country in exploiting the world for it's own benefits (although in a more subtle manner). but that's really not the strength of socialist countries, who are more into social security and health services. so the life expectancy in cuba is comparable to the us-standard. but without the desasterous ecological imapact of the us-lifestyle..

Furthermore, the market "planning" is flawed, it gives wrong signals all the time and since there's no communication between entrepreneurs it can lead to over-investment.
