You are forgetting about North Africa, Rommel was on the run prior to the Torch landings. It took massive amounts of men and materials to defeat the Desert Fox, but they accomplished it. You could also say they won the Battle of Britain, though you would most likely dismiss it because it took place in the air.

Couple of sources. Have some in a couple of my books and the Imperial war museum ran a magazine in the 60s or 70's with colour pics that i scanned. I think they'd originally appeared in German propaganda magazines.

the wermacht were a good millitary force but they were undermined by their blind obedience and lack of creative thinking, still i guess the song fits

Concerning creative thinking the opposite was true in the doctrine of the Wehrmacht. Although it does not seem to fit into the stereotype of goose-stepping German soldiers, they were encouraged to interpret orders if they saw an opportunity. This was one of the main reason for many victories.

As long as you interpretted the order correctly. If you withdrew to perform a counter attack at a later stage you could find yourself up on charges. Take the Crimea in 1941, Sponeck was shot for saving the majority of his men.

good video, I just realized that the 3rd reich is kinda like the Roman empire but for the modern times, no one can match the power, training, discipline and organization of the Wehrmacht (fyi the Wehrmacht includes the Kriegsmarine, Luftwaffe, Heer (the army) and the Waffen SS) EXCELLENT VIDEO!

I know. The film includes Luftwaffe, Heer and Waffen SS in the images but I thought I'd do the Kriegsmarine in a seperate video. I have done the Waffen SS at war as well (I found I had a book called Waffen SS at war in pictures so just scanned a few)!

wow, i just realised how much the lyrics of the everlasting fit with the feelings of hopelessness and despair in the population in the third reich in world war 2, even though the song wasn't meant to be about this
