  • From Mr. Grainger's letter: "and as for Mr. Humphries....Oh Dear..I did go too far!!"

  • @wade43671 That episode was Camping In from season 1. That was a good moment, that was.

  • I think the best Mr. Grainger moment was when he imitated Winston Churchill on an episode. I wish I could remember which one it was.

  • This is a comedy that doesn't get it fair dues in the History of British Comedy imo..It had some very clever writing in it. Some of the characters were brilliant..I love the show.. 1st five seasons aswell..It did go down hill a bit after that but then again it's hard to keep coming up with material for that kind of show week after week, eh?

  • My fave episode is it pays to advertise mr grainger was soooo funny in that one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is the only sad episode, and it really IS quite sad, especially given his quick death after this

    so goes another fine life

  • @sillybabybunnies I agree.

  • 12:20 - Mrs. Dale's Diary went "off the air" in 1969 (only 8 years before this episode") ... not "20 years ago". It ceased being called Mrs. Dale's Diary in 1962, when it was renamed "The Dales".

  • @mkrobinson95 I wonder how/why they got that so wrong.

  • The thing is about this show is the characters become like family to you, i believe. The actors do seem to enjoy doing the show,... and it shows

  • "I'll go to the foot of our stairs'." What does that mean, anyone?

  • @drogheda1966 it basically means you wernt expecting that other sayings used like that are *well ill be dammed* just means suprise really lol

  • @drogheda1966 It means" I´m flabbergasted". (It´s in the dictionary)

  • great series. shame this was Mr Graingers Last Epsiode

  • Mr. Ernest Grainger (Arthur Brough) was by far the best senior salesman.

I liked the eppy with Alfie Bass who came for a job interview:

Rumbold: "This is Captain Peacock, who was fighting Rommel in the desert."

Goldberg: "Oh.... we often wandered what he did in his spare time."

I most disliked Kenneth Waller as Old Mr. Grace, Harold Bennett was so good as Young Mr. Grace. And Mike Berry (Spooner) could not compete with Trevor Bannister (Lucas).

  • Frankly, the only senior I liked was Mr. Goldberg.

  • this makes me sooo upset. i just dont even really want to see any of the episodes after he leaves.. not even worth it. its just like i dunno not the same.. ) ;

  • Im very busy, go and boil your head!

  • HAHAHA The reaction from mr humpries to the letter of mr grainger, is soo funny 27:20

  • Mrs slocombe is a living legend mollie sugden is a g8 actress

  • @MsFanmail mrs.slocombe has too passed away

  • The part where Mr. Grainger reads his resignation letter was funny hehe.

  • i feel so sorry for him x

  • It felt so sad, when Mr. Harman turned out the light.

  • I'm going to cry

  • what a lovely show

  • @ :35 LOL

"well it was strong enough for the whale"

  • Grainger has always been my favorite character on the show, both crotchety and lovable. Liked Alfie Bass as Goldberg the best among the replacements, but none were as great at Brough's character. Thanks mtwini09 for bringing these back.

  • Thanks for uploading, this is one of my favorite episodes

  • Another classic. Thanks.

  • Arthur Brough died one year later. One awesome episode is coming up after this one: It Pays to Advertise. After that he was replaced 4 times and they weren't as good as he was. Best season are 1 till 5.

  • @ComedyStuff76 Absolutely agree. mind you i did love some episodes in the final season, like the robbery one.

  • @mtwini09 No, they are also cool and funny

  • @mtwini09 Yeh Series 2-7 were my faves.

  • @ComedyStuff76 I think the only good replacement he had was Mr. Goldberg. Still, Grainger was the best.

  • @Hallinilla9 Agree that was the second best, but he was only in season 7.

  • @ComedyStuff76 The story on Arthur Brough, who plays Mr. Grainger. Elizabeth Addyman, his wife of over 50 years died. He retired from acting and died over a month later. He really loved and adored her, and that's what makes his passing so sad.

  • @whatuswattingat

Sad and also nice to know this about him.

  • @ComedyStuff76 I agree with you, but I am more inclined towards what mtwini09 said. Most of the episodes in seasons 9 and 10 are classics. The robbery one, but also the one with Walpole/Warpole when Ms. Slocombe 'loses her memory'

  • @ComedyStuff76 I thought it was only a few months after he left the show. From what I've read, he lost the will to live after his wife died. that was why he left the show.
