This is my all-time favorite performance of the National Anthem. Her performance at the Super Bowl was just one note shy of being just as perfect. I wish this was available on itunes. I love all of the subtle choices she makes which do not take away from the song but add to it's spirit.

Billboard just ranked her 2007 NFL Conference Anthem as the 3rd best anthem ever, behind Whitney and Jimi Hendrix, and in front of the likes of Marvin Gaye and Beyonce.

If only she could hear herself in that stadium she would have been fine. People need to realize that she was one of the first artists to ever sing the National Anthem live at the Superbowl. Mariah, Whitney, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson...all lip synced. When you can't hear yourself, it's really hard to sing. She was basically singing by vocal memory, meaning, what felt right to her and her vocal chords. I'm suprised she was as good as she was with all the obnoxious noise! Great job Carrie!!!

Carrie Underwood is FAR from being 'one of the greatest singers of all time'. That though is laughable in the extreme. She is an average weanna be power singer who strains to hit power notes, barely staying in tune.

To kaytiepie - Taylor Swift cannot sing live to save her life. I tried to give me many chances but she simply cannot sing live. As for Carrie, she is simply not that great of a singer. Martina McBride, for example, is a much better and more powerful singer than Carrie Underwood. Martina hits he notes effortlessly, she is not shrill like Carrie. But since Carrie is one of the '[flavors of the moment' she sells more records.

I think what some people are trying to say is that singing solo like this is an exhibition, not a competition. A "fumble," as one person put it, during an exhibition would be overlooked much more easily than it would had the SSB been sung in a competition format like American Idol. Therefore, whoever compared a singing exhibition to playing a football competition FAILED. Carrie's singing rocks, IMHO.

The Cactus Cuties sing Acapella, do not lip sinc, and I have yet to hear them miss a note. They sang at a Cowboys game in the new stadium and were great (as usual). If they can do it CU should be able to manage it also. She is a professional after all.

The Cactus Cuties sing Acapella, do not lip sinc, and I have yet to hear them miss a note. They sang at a Cowboys game in the new stadium and were great (as usual). If they can do it CU should be able to manage it also. She is a professional after all.

I watched Carrie Underwood sing the SSB last night at the Super Bowl. She is a great preformer, but her SSB was mediocre, at best, when compared to the Cactus Cuties version. I guess being a 6 time Grammy-award-winner out ranks, "just being great". Maybe next year the Cuties can do it right in Super Bowl XLV.

she defiantly did better here. she was rough at the super bowl and cracked a little at the end during her performance. but she's human so i'll give her props. i've never sang at the super bowl. so she has balls for singing in front of the whole united states.

i actually saw what perez was talking about on the super bowl, he was right. she was pitchy through the whole thing, and her notes weren't solid. That said, i still find her incredible (she was performing for millions, thats got to be scary), and I'm sure I couldn't do what she does. She's got an amazing talent, anyone would get nervous for a performance like that, and the national anthem is an incredibly hard song to sing.
