Oddly, WCC have now made up " No cameras" rule, without any legal backing that they can produce, now difficult questions are now being asked about parking contracts and related breaches of EU legislation! Some rather burly and uncivil servants attempted to enforce this at the public committee meeting on 7 Dec.
The motorbike lobby says scrap the security measures (they don't exist and don't work) and stop charging us to park in what were free bays with no car intrusions.
A bit of a shambles. When the voting started, she seemed to be picking numbers out of the air - or from passing comments made earlier. Not a particularly inspiring demonstration of democracy.
This meeting was a joke! The decision to keep the motorcycle parking tax was clearly made before the meeting. Not a very good chair at all. Did you see how the people who were against the tax kept being told they had to hurry up yet the people who supported the tax were given loads of time and not even once were they told to hurry up. I can't beleive it took a councillor (called Rupert I beleive) to tell the chair to actually put it to a vote, just goes to show they already knew the outcome!
