Dude, Dead Flowers was the Rolling Stones. But it is kind of an interesting twist on that song. I wonder if Tweedy had that in mind when he penned this one. Never know.
@redshaftedflicker What absolute bullshit. Parsons had to BEG Mick and Keith to let the Burritos cover "Wild Horses". And had to be thrown out of Nellcote because he was draining the scene, not being the altruistic creative genius you make him out to be. No one doubts that Parsons had talent, but why the hell you would make such a ridiculous, over-the-top claim is beyond me.
Man, it first appeared on The Burritos' album but it was credited to Jagger and Richards. Why would Gram allow that to happen to his own song?Apparently he did not write it and Mick and Keith wrote many amazing songs such as Moonlight Mile,Dead Flowers, Sister Morphine, Gimme Shelter so they are pretty capable of writing a masterpiece like that one and as much as I love Gram it's The STone's version that should be deemed the definitive one.
This was a great show, despite Jeff Tweedy losing his Mom and having just had her funeral. He said his Mom would have wanted him to play even though he clearly was hurting. Wilco is quickly becoming one of the best American recording/touring bands there is. I have seen them several times and they always seem to hit an emotional current (similar to R.E.M.) in whatever it is they do. If you have never seen Wilco live, do yourself a favor and change that soon.
last show i went to in new haven was sick, tons of being there, monday, i got you, bunch of others great time! i also saw them play passenger side at an earlier show, now AM thats an album that needs to get played more
I was there with my brother. He had been to several Wilco concernts before and he said this was the first time he heard them play this song live. I had never seen him so excited.

Did Parsons really write Dead Flowers? Don't believe so, but wouldn't bet either way. He had enough influence over that whole scene, so why not.

It's Parsons who wrote the song and the Stones claiming it as their own. Mick and Keith couldn't write something that great if they tried.

False buddy. Written and produced by THE Rolling Stones.
