This is a Canadian Tire Mastercraft single tube way lathe, sometimes called the monotube. It is sold under several different brand names. Convenient, it easily breaks down into two parts for travel to demos. One of four lathes, I have had this one since '96.

Thanks, I think. Problem is, I hardly ever use a spindle gouge and whenever anyone asks how I have to practice with it first.

what kind of wood are you using?

I am using elm for these spoons as it is what the customer wanted. Generally I use maple or cherry for kitchen stuff.
