If you want to play a major pentatonic , just ad the pinky on the b string 7th fret (f#) and change the picking a lil bit . Do the same with the minor and you get a cool Aminor6 chord ...

Cascade scales are cool but there are two problems. You can ONLY do them with a clean tone or it will sound like you're killing a water buffalo. Also, you can't do them in flat keys, so they won't help you in jazz.
