I have a 14 mm which is one of the biggest they've seen at the hospital. They just put a stent for now and schedule surgery in two weeks. The pain is indescribable.
I had a 6mm (1/4") stone removed last week at the VA .It took two hours and I was in recovery for four. Had blood in my urine for about 5 days (drink lots of water) and pain for about 4 days but not very much when I peed. Over those 4 days I used 5 Vicodin which bound me up something awefull (buy milk of magnesia). The stent came out easily . The doctor said that they put that string there so you can remove it at home. Considering how easy it came out I could have. Been 10 days and I feel great.
I have a kidney stone the size of 1.75 CM Golfball size. I had surgery Monday but the stone did not break up because of the size. They want to do it the evasive way. What questions should I ask the Dr?
the doctor thinks i have kidney stones and i am going for a scan and she said everything is showing i have it by all the symptoms but she said with all the pain i am having she said the might be big ones because when the pain starts i can't move and it last for about ten minutes but they are starting to get longer i was just wanting to know what types of symptoms did you have?
I just had my outpatient surgery performed yesterday and the relief was immediate. Post-op there were no complications and I returned home to a fairly normal day. My urine was blood red but, I had been forewarned by the physician that it would be. There was also a burning sensation when I urinated; the discomfort, however, has diminished each time I urinate. My stent removal is in 9 days. So far, things have worked well. It certainly beats the pain and discomfort of a stone.
I have a question.... whn the stone is broken into fragments... whats the size of stone after thn,...?? how mch small....! I had my surgery done last sunday.. nd treatment is still on...! plzz some one answer....................
I have apointment tomorrow to remove my stent which was palced 1 week ago to remove kidney stones. All that i remember is going to the operation theatre. When th elazer was done i didn;t even know until i got back to the room. will write more tomorrow and maybe even opload the video.
I had this done. The Surgery itself doesn't hurt. But the stint is another story haha. You cant really tell the stint is in there until you pee. When you pee it stings a little. But getting the stint out wasn't bad at all. My doctor tied a string around my stint so he didn't have to take the scope up me again to get it out. He just pulled it right out. It didn't hurt at all. It was kind of sick to watch though haha. If anyone has questions about this, feel free to message me.
@heroes91092 OHHHH Speak for Yourself Taking mine out was a nightmare but before that , when I woke up Man did I have to Pee but I couldn't so they gave me grape drink in teeeny tiiiiny ! milk cartons (remember no food or drink 12 hours before, they just kept bringing those grape drinks and Ice Water too and Ice chips Finally you have to pee and it seems like a wonderful thing, until the acid from the urine hits the scrapes and sores from surgery and Your shits on fire !!!
laser not only touching the stones also touching your kidney flesh, it gives you extra pain after the surgery but goes away in 2 ,3 days, i had over 150 stones big like rice peaces, my doctor broke the big ones and left the small ones to pass naturally. i had blood in my urine casually, after the surgery pain and cramp went away, i had pain only when the stones dropping out, i refused to install stent it doesn't help to kill the pain also money trap extra $3500. i fell better than before,
One thing I didn't mention in the other comments. I was told I had 2 stuck but when they went in I had a cluster of 9 - 12 stones. My kidneys never hurt after in fact I had no pain in the recovery room. Not even a full day later and I still have no pain. My kidneys are fine and I'm peeing with no pain. Still peeing a small amount of blood but as far as pain goes there is none to mention. As long as the dr knows his/her job everything should be smooth. I'm fearing getting the stent out in 2 weeks
@harborpainters1 My stint was in there for a little over a week. when I first looked at my shriveled up unit just laying there all alone and sad and scared to death I felt so sorry for him then I saw a string hanging out of his mouth and giggled a little but when I touched the string The Humor was gone 1-1/2 weeks of getting it stuck in a zipper or to my leg or pj's I swear I almost had a heart attack when I woke one morning and the string was gone I almost crapped myself But I peed and wala
One other thing is they do this through your little buddy's hole. I suggest being completely put out, I did. After my first pee I have been dripping blood and to savemy clothes I put a dipar on or depends. Make fun of me if you will but if you have this done you will see the benifits. I had just a little bit of discomfort but nothing like whatI had before this was done. My surgery started 9 hrs ago and has been done for 7 hrs so this is very fresh. I'm taking Flowmax, oxycodon, and anti biotic
They put a stint in that needs to be there for 2 weeks. When it comes out he does this at his office and I wont be put out but will have novacain. Not looking forward to this. But n my case this surgery to remove the stones didnt hurt a bit and very glad I did it even on short notice. If you have pain that you can no longer take and you have this option I recommend it. Instant pain relief and well worth it. Like I said I had this done 9 hrs ago. Wish it was done sooner

Actually the good Doctor here is using the optimum approach to these stones. The idea is to disintegrate/pulverize instead of breaking the stones into smaller pieces necessitating multiple extractions for every single small, but not insignificant, fragment.
hydrangea root and marshmellow root have been proven to relive pain assoc, with kidney stones in minutes, and will dissolve most stones in just a few days for about $25,, research it then U decide.
thanks for posting this, awesome video. i had this procedure done, not fun.......but thankfully medicine is so advanced they no longer have to cut into you.

And I was back in school in 2 days!

my guess is that there is much pain because the laser also sometimes touched the kidney instead of the stone.

Nice overall work and even nicer instrumentation

I just had this done last month...now I know why I hurt so bad afterwards and I still have 6 small ones to pass on my own. Thanks for the video!

Incredible video.
Thank you for posting it.
I had this done years ago, and it's cool to see what actually happened.
Lol, my docs didn't take the time to get "all" the fragments though... I had the honor of flushing those out myself (OUCH). :)
Be safe.
