I like Morrowind and all, but it could use some elements from Oblivion. Namely, the Quest Journal, Dialogue System, Graphics, UI, AI and the Physics Engine. If Morrowind had all that I would be playing it non-stop lol.
ok id like to point this out for those who point out the combat system in morrowind, in rl if you are unfamiliar with a weapon( low level skill in morrowind equivilent) if you try to hit someone with it, more times then not you would miss or have it not connect in a way to do damage. lets take for example the bow, if you have no prior experiance with a bow and you pick it up, you will miss in rl more times then hit. so in a sence this is more realistic then oblivion

I hope Skyrim will have some of the originality and atmosphere that made you want to play Morrowind for hours on end, with graphics and physics better than Oblivion. Maybe Bethesda can pull it off, but most of the creativity behind the early Elder Scrolls games came from the fact that they didn't have a lot of commercial success (up to Morrowind). I think with games like Fallout 3, they're becoming just like any other company.
Mankar Camoran is right about tamriel. why would Azura have given a fuck about Dagoth Ur besting the empire? why was SHE the one who rewarded you and urged you on? its obviously just another daedric realm. i think the Dwemer realised this and went somewhere else, and now some of the Daedra and Aedrea are trying to stop the other races from finding that out too. Azura was playing the Nerevarine like a harp.
Why can't the guys making this take the original sky textures and stuff from Morrowind and use it in this mod? Couldn't be too hard. Then all they have to do is use some data from the morrowind weather/ climates section and use that for Morroblivion.
That would clear up the issues everyone's having with the green-ness, besides some of the plants.

The difference between Oblivion and Morrowind lies in the combat system - Morrowind is a great sandbox RPG with horrible combat, Oblivion is a average-to-awesome action game with rpg elements.

Oblivion I liked, but Morrowind had more depth. Now in some ways I actually liked that about Oblivion (less depth) because it was easier to get into without 40+ hours of playing the game. Also Oblivion's atmosphere was a bit more generic "medieval elves and orcs 4" for me, whereas Morrowind was VERY orgiinal. Honestly though I can never decide which I like better, probably Morrowind if you include the two expansions. Especially Bloodmoon.

I think that the fact that oblivion is (almost entirely), voiced makes it a more apealing game and more immersive... as for mods what i meant is that you can actually make oblivion as gameplay rich as morrowind, and with its graphics engine which is... much better than morrowind.

@GmanZombie actually the reason that I couldn't play Morrowind without wanting to freak out is because of the unbelievably DATED gameplay. I grew up playing Oblivion, so from my perspective Morrowind was practically unplayable. I didn't mind the graphics, but the gameplay in Morrowind was fucking shit compared to Oblivion. To say that Morrowind has better gameplay is just stupid. In Oblivion if you swing your sword at something you will make contact, that's not the case in Morrowind.
@TheDavid2222 A sword hitting something isn't gameplay, gameplay is the atmosphere, the way you do things, the quests the exploration that sense of adventure and epicness you get when playing Morrowind, which is something that Oblivion seems to lack. You haven't played it successfully. When you start the game you are too weak to hit anyone with the sword. That's whats called skills. I have played Morrowind and now when I don't play it, my heart still screams for it. Its theme song, it feels like, like magic. And magic cannot be seen with eyes
morrowind is much more immerse than oblivion, way longer, more thinking went into it im sure. but to play morrowind all the way through you have to be dedicated, and i mean DEDICATED. oblivion can be beat in a day or so. but morrowind with oblivions engine, sound awesome! im not sure this mod was ever finished though. dont get me wrong with what i said above i completely agree morrowind is way better, but not for the average joe "im short - console kitties" :P

a game thats is just happy and cheerful rite from the start its bad...a game has good and evil usually evil is winning and good must overcome that evil or keep the evil from rising up. Morrowind has that same thing and the "depressive atmosphere" reflects that and fits with the game.
The new graphics is good and kinda takes away some of that "depressing atmoshpere" but thats what makes it a good game it has character and personality to it...at the end it not so depressing it actually gets kinda cheerful...but the scenery is breath taking and i loved the storyline...now with the new graphics it is gonna b great!
Even though it looks great, and yes it requires a good PC to run. It's the feeling of it that drives me away. Morrowind had, and still has, a very dark and depressing atmosphere. sometimes, given the right situation, it seems down right oppressive. This Atmosphere is executed almost perfectly, as you run through dungeons and other interesting locations in the game. The dark atmosphere adds a sense of wonder and awe. Oblivion is great too, but it just doesn't hold me as firmly as Morrowind does.
Does this mod work well? There were several suspicious cuts in the vid. Does it crash a lot or something? And the sound was pretty messed up when putting up the sword and stuff. And man, when you left Suran, I was really hoping you were on your way to see Umbra! but now.... Anyway, this was awesome.... But you should've shown Umbra!!! Glad the original music was back too.... The music is amazing. Better than Oblivion's.
The Orcish Umbra is still there surprisingly, even the original Umbra two-handed sword as well. (Although, suspiciously, it looks almost identical to the Oblivion ebony swords)
I love the map, and everything in your video is just how Morrowind should be. I'm trying it out, I can't wait to play through Vvardenfell in Oblivion!
i cant wait for this mod to be complete and have all the quest and all, i think Bethseda should take on this mod and remake morrowind with access to cyrodill
If skyrim does make an updated morrowind I hope they dont give you quest markers
that completely ruined the whole exploration expirience in the game

It was better even with the cliff racers. And that's saying something. Don't get me wrong, I liked both but Morrowind was the better game. @GmanZombie Morrowind for its time was even groundbreaking, so oblivion still doesn't beat it there. And physics weren't possible, i don't think, in games then either. So really Morrowind beats oblivion in every way. :)

@GmanZombie actually the reason that I couldn't play Morrowind without wanting to freak out is because of the unbelievably DATED gameplay. I grew up playing Oblivion, so from my perspective Morrowind was practically unplayable. I didn't mind the graphics, but the gameplay in Morrowind was fucking shit compared to Oblivion. To say that Morrowind has better gameplay is just stupid. In Oblivion if you swing your sword at something you will make contact, that's not the case in Morrowind.

@TheDavid2222 A sword hitting something isn't gameplay, gameplay is the atmosphere, the way you do things, the quests the exploration that sense of adventure and epicness you get when playing Morrowind, which is something that Oblivion seems to lack. Whether or not you see your sword smash that mudcrab's face is absolutely trivial.

@GmanZombie you have no idea what your talking about. Oblivion doesn't lack any of those things for 99% of the people who play it. Having a % chance of landing a succesful hit every time you swing a weapon IS a gameplay implementation. If you disagree with me on that then you need to figure out what gameplay actually is. It really amazes me just how far one's head must be up one's asshole in order to not see how epic Oblivion is. Oh yeah, it did just get game of the year for some reason! LOL

@TheDavid2222 You are right in some things, yes Oblivion is more like reality and totally better graphics, but you cannot deny epicness of Morrowind if you have played it successfully.
You haven't played it successfully. When you start the game you are too weak to hit anyone with the sword. That's whats called skills. I have played Morrowind and now when I don't play it, my heart still screams for it. Its theme song, it feels like, like magic. And magic cannot be seen with eyes

morrowind is much more immerse than oblivion, way longer, more thinking went into it im sure. but to play morrowind all the way through you have to be dedicated, and i mean DEDICATED. oblivion can be beat in a day or so. but morrowind with oblivions engine, sound awesome! im not sure this mod was ever finished though. dont get me wrong with what i said above i completely agree morrowind is way better, but not for the average joe "im short - console kitties" :P

a game thats is just happy and cheerful rite from the start its bad...a game has good and evil usually evil is winning and good must overcome that evil or keep the evil from rising up. Morrowind has that same thing and the "depressive atmosphere" reflects that and fits with the game.

The new graphics is good and kinda takes away some of that "depressing atmoshpere" but thats what makes it a good game it has character and personality to it...at the end it not so depressing it actually gets kinda cheerful...but the scenery is breath taking and i loved the storyline...now with the new graphics it is gonna b great!

Even though it looks great, and yes it requires a good PC to run. It's the feeling of it that drives me away. Morrowind had, and still has, a very dark and depressing atmosphere. sometimes, given the right situation, it seems down right oppressive. This Atmosphere is executed almost perfectly, as you run through dungeons and other interesting locations in the game. The dark atmosphere adds a sense of wonder and awe. Oblivion is great too, but it just doesn't hold me as firmly as Morrowind does.

Does this mod work well? There were several suspicious cuts in the vid. Does it crash a lot or something? And the sound was pretty messed up when putting up the sword and stuff. And man, when you left Suran, I was really hoping you were on your way to see Umbra! but now.... Anyway, this was awesome.... But you should've shown Umbra!!! Glad the original music was back too.... The music is amazing. Better than Oblivion's.

The Orcish Umbra is still there surprisingly, even the original Umbra two-handed sword as well. (Although, suspiciously, it looks almost identical to the Oblivion ebony swords)
