My moms side of the family lives in Tondo Manila and while they don't live in this part of Tondo, I do pass by this area from time to time during my visits to the Philippines and it breaks my heart to see many in poverty. Everytime I'm there, many look at me and I look at them and I can see why my mom moved to America. I hope one day the government can help these children and provide them with the essentials they despreatley need. Most importantly, proper housing and education.
Thanks for posting this, I have my heart broken every time we visit. We do what we can to help those in need but so much more is needed. I'm always amazed out how grateful the people of the Philippines are for whatever help you can provide.
the roman catholic church in the philippines is for population explosion, she tolerates poverty and sees untidy children from slum areas as "blessings from God." she is against the plan of creating another "las vegas" in the country. thus. depriving filipinos of employment opportunities. it is a shame for us. filipinos because we brag of ourselves as "the only christian nation in asia" and yet were branded as one of the most corrupt nation in the world! WOE TO THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH!
The Government & the church is a system used by the upper class to Control the Lower class... To Save our selves We need to Return to our ancient way of life and this Communism.
I love the Philippines. Am married to a Pinay. I am from the Netherlands myself. And social worker. When i was for the 1st time in Manila. The squatters or slumbs i saw made a huge impact in my life. We have plans, hope soon come true, to move back to the Philippines and do our share to help. We have some projects in mind and once there action it.

@lorchnez The Philippines is ruled by the tyranny of its "elected" officials.
In this case, thre is no distinction between political families and nobles in the past.
