  • Dear God! Thank you!!!! My favourite montage commercial ever!! Right behind The Godfather one :) hehe

  • I miss the days of real action heroes.

  • who sings this?

  • @Xanov15th Bonnie Tyler

  • This was on my copy of Patriot Games. My sister and I would rewind it and watch it over and over :)

  • @Mattro81286 This version was done by Laura Branigan. However the version you hear in this is not the version that she recorded. This was done specifically for this "commercial" ad by paramount pictures. I hope this helps.

  • @FiremanMike1013 About that, can we find this version anywhere for download? I LOVE IT!!

  • @Mattro81286

    Mattro, I feel your pain.

  • I love Star Trek First Contact and would watch it all the time on VHS but I also loved this trailer and sometimes would just put to the VHS in just to watch this trailer. I loved the song and seeing all these movies together (most of which I couldn't even see yet) was so cool.

Although its funny how when I watch one of the movies in this trailer whenever a shot that they use in here comes up it sticks out because I've seen this trailer SO many times.

  • Okay... I admit I nearly melted my VCR rewinding and replaying this. Its great to do warm up exercises to.

  • I'm glad I found this video. It had bothered me inconsistenly, and I could not recall where I've seen this from.

Did they make a compilation video similar to this,

    but to the song Footloose?

  • thumbs up if you think these movies beat down the Twilight series any given day of the week!

  • @daiatlus79 Ha, fuck yeah they do. Especially the Tom Clancy ones.

  • I seem to remember this trailer having bits from the first contact borg battle...am i correct?

  • This trailer blew my mind as an 8 year old. Too bad more trailer aren't like this. I must've dragged my mom to half a dozen music stores to find a cassette tape of this song.

  • Comment removed

  • who sings this song? its not bonnie tyler cause the womans voice is alot softer and it isnt the other singers i've heard?

  • @TERMINATOR666X

Yeah, her voice definitely doesn't have the "grittiness" of Bonnie Tyler. And quite frankly, Tyler's version would have been a MUCH better match to this type of action oriented trailer.

  • what cover of "Holding Out for A Hero" is it in the background?

  • I love Paramount.

  • glad to know im not alone!! lol

  • Its bonnie tylers song but,,in this trailer it was a different women who sang it i forgot her name, But this new women who sang it is million times better i think loll

  • @ThatsHimJunior - I was actually able to get the non live version of Laura Branigans song off limewire before they got shut down. So its out there.

  • It's a shame Mel Gibson's such a terrible person, because he certainly looks damn fine at 1:09.

  • i got this on a copy of patriot games i had on vhs.

    i love it haha

  • Mel Gibson is certainly no hero lol

  • @Abaraxas89 Its funny u say that, the first version of this was on the Lethal Weapon 2 vhs back in the day

  • I can't find the singer to this song. It's definitely not Bonnie Tyler, frou frou, or Jennifer Saunders. Not Laura Branigan either, it was a really hard version to find but i did find it on limewire and it wasn't it. It's probably exclusive to paramount and never released like some say.

  • @ThatsHimJunior I thought it's the non live version of Laura Branigan... I never found this version, was looking since I was a kid... does anybody have connections at paramount or something? Where can one find this version?

  • @olitasantiago I eventually learned that there is no way to find the version you hear in this paramount commercial. I liked this version so much that I just ended up downloading the Mp3 to this video directly from youtube, but Imma have to hear the voices of the actors while I listen.

  • @ThatsHimJunior it is bonnie tyler who sings this

  • Thank god, I've been searching for this commercial for a long time.

  • Dammit there's one of these set to "The Spy who loved me" and I can't FIND IT! >< Anyone?

  • On my latest 90's nostalgia kick, and been looking for this all night.

    Thanks for the upload!

  • My mom and I LOVE this video. lol

  • I love the smell of Napalm in the morning

  • @HolySasquatchTurd Smells like Victory

  • there was another version of this played in theatres which had clips from rocky 4, payback and a james bond movie. if anyone knows wat im talking about please give some insight to make sure i didnt dream up the whole thing. lol thanks

  • Thank you for this. I have been looking for this for years and remember it every time I see paramount openings ... this time, I said, just look it up. THank you so much. (I had it back on a vhs tape with one of these movies).

  • Does anyone know who sings this version of the song?

  • Sounds like the original by Bonnie Tyler.

  • @shopper11479 It's Laura Branigan holding out for a hero

  • The problem isn't the song itself, it's just this particular version of the song by his particular artist.

  • fuck yeah, this shit was awesome when I was a kid

  • Simply the best trailer ever produced period. I used to watch and rewind the congo VHS tape over and over to watch this trailer. And Braveheart is on it, need I say more?

  • @flint3099 Although the original VHS of Congo had different trailers.

  • @flint3099 OMG! I thought I was the only one in the world that did that. I totally rewind the Congo VHS tape like multiple times just to watch this over and over. & love the parts with Bravveheart on it. XD

  • all of these movies kick ass i mess the cool 90's action movies damn

  • Galipoloi!! Braveheart!! Congo!!!

    and many more!! awesome

  • Fuck you, Tom Cruise.

  • OMG i remeber i rented a video for my girlfreind and this add came up.....At the end of it I turned to her and said "i'll always be your hero" and we fucked all night long.

  • I lol'd

  • Why thankyou, I wasn';t always her hero, I cheated on her, and we broke up like 2 months after the video watching. But The sex that night was really good. And whenever I hear this song, and specially when I watch this comercial. I get a little hard, and cum a little. Anyway Jessica and I were years ago, she was hot, tall blonde, blue eyes, amazing perky boobies, and so hornie. In some ways she was the perfect woman, but I didnt know that at the time.

  • @dduble07 xD lmao win for you

  • I remember seeing this on Face/Off when I was a kid.

  • how can you find this version on limewire

  • do you have this mp3?

  • I'm wracking my brain! Does anyone know who the girl is singing this version of 'Holding out for a Hero'? It's definately NOT Bonnie Tyler, Frou Frou, or Jennifer Saunders. I've heard all those. This girl sings it the best but I need to know her name to find it! Can anyone help please?

  • I downloaded the Bonnie Tyler version and was very dissappointed. Not the same girl. Compare the 2.

Any music experts wanna help me?

  • I have been trying to find this song for over three years, with no luck. I believe Paramount had an exclusive recording for the trailer. I would love a music expert to tell us if this is true or not... oh well.

  • Laura Branigan

  • You like bonnie, Frou (Imogen) and Saunders?

If you were a chick, I'd offer to fuck you.

  • I had this on a Patriot Games VHS. Back then I watched the movie constantly.

  • I saw this on the "Ghost and the Darkness" VHS I had. I have had since lost it.

  • Why is everything a race thing? if you don't like something just don't watch! But for heaven's sake don't make it a race thing!!

  • I saw this on the Star Trek First Contact video release. Some times I would put the tape in and just watch this commercial over and over again.

  • Damn... Me too!!!I thought I was the only one...

  • anyone know where i can get this video in better format?

  • i don't suppose anyone has the paramount video montage that feautred star trek, indiana jones, ghost, top gun etc.. to some hard rocking tune? i think it was 1993 or 1994...

  • I saw this on "The Best of Mission: Impossible" VHS Tapes.

  • I saw this promo on the 1997 Paramount film Face/Off.

  • @Luigi2346forever Yeah that was what I saw it off of too. It seems like no one else did though.

  • @flashdrum But to be honest, I don't remember what was after this promo. Can you offer to tell me what the other trailers were in that Vhs tape the last time you seen it?

  • Lol. I remember this from years ago. Some reason I thought it was early than 97/98, could be wrong. Takes me back though...

  • Haha. Hilariously good/bad. Good because it's a decent music video, if it were amateur. Bad because it's made for a major motion picture company. Everything explodes where you know it's going to, and they flash images like they want you to have seizures during the drum parts. But still, it's got a certain charm.

  • Not to correct you or anything, but, this trailer is from 1998. I know this because certain VHS copies of "Drop Zone" & "Deep Impact" feature this trailer.

  • You're probably right about that.. I got it from a tape of Star Trek First Contact released in 1997. Not sure why I labeled it 2005. Thanks for the correction.

  • No problem at all.

  • do you know who the singer is?

  • 'I Need A Hero' by Bonnie Tyler

  • Thats the song, but thats not Bonnie Tyler voice. Anyone knows who sings this remake? She sang it better than Bonnie Tyler IMO.

  • It's actually Laura Branigan doing the cover that Paramount is using in this clip. It's a tough version to find, but worth it if you do.

  • and the song is actually called "Holding Out for a Hero" - which was referenced in one episode of "Drawn Together", and featured in another

Coincidentally, Paramount owns the DVD rights to DT, since Paramount and the show's network (Comedy Central) are owned by Viacom

  • Can you please hook me up or let me know how to get it? Thank you... This is the best version I ever heard...

  • Honestly I tried to find the song using your information and I can not find anything. There is only one version of Laura Branigan "I need a Hero" AKA "Holding Out for a Hero" in known existence.

  • No one knows who sang it or if it was ever even available outside Paramount.

  • @rogerl19

    no its not

  • @rogerl19 No... Not to be rude, but the voice is more youthful... It's Laura Branigan... It's almost impossible to find the non live version of this song.

I been looking since I was a kid and seen this on the Star Trek VHS.

  • @Yeroc13 no its not, listen to that version its different its laura branigan
