What a song... and to think that it was judged not worthy to be in the album, from the band itself (comes out of a best-of, in fact). A b-side, in short.
This probably can give a real clue of what was the level of the albums from this band.
people never thought this album was great but i like it they got the mix of zakk on vocals n oliva awesome stuff i think "anymore" is the best track on this album
@WildSSSnake AHORA SIIIII jajajja, no habia entendido!!! RDE remedios de escalada?? jajaja imaginate que en ingles ni se me habria ocurrido que podia ser alguien conocido !!!
Mountain King era, eh? I was kind of hoping it was pre- Paul O'Neil so that Jon Oliva could get more lyrical credit...because this sounds like "in The Dream' in a small way, which was long before Savatage was O'Neil-ized. Don't get me wrong, I like ALL savatage, just tired of Paul getting so much credit, go sing frosty the snowman, Paul.
I agree about Paul getting so much credit... but I really don't know for sure when was this song composed and who must be credited for the lyrics... I'd kill to ask Jon himself :P
Jon spends everyday of the week 7 days about 12 to 15 hrs a day writing/recording since Paul moved to FL they spend more time writing together and are such good friends there is no compitition between them, A similar relationship to that of Meatloaf and Jim Steinman who Jon has worked with in the past on TSO stuff.
@bjrcomputacion savatage wrote this song and also stranger in the dark (they have a lot of similarities) the time before oneil,.... of course it is a criss solo u cant be fooled with criss ..i would recognize it anytime.. anyway the song didnt make it to LP and that shows how great sava was.... check also before i hang... kick ass song and solo
A lot of old stuff that was recorded but not released is still being used today Jon has a ton of old stuff and it`nice to see him using it not mention Jon understands Criss`s style, Not mention Jon can play just about any instruments and has before.
acording to SavaFun, it was recorded during the Hall of the Mountain King, I think certain versions of the wake of magellan included it as a bonus track, I got it from the bootleg compilation called "unplugged", and I guess some others also include it.
I made the "video" with the magellan background because the song is supposed to be in that album as bonus track; officialy, it was never released before.
This is sort of a 'love song' which is unusual for Savatage, but I think this is an extremely worthy song, because there is no other love song like it. It's not just forceful, but also--contrary to the stereotypical sappy fashion of most love songs--it is the angriest sounding one I've ever heard! In fact, I know of no other with this atmosphere, and any girl would be deaf if Jon sang this directly in her ear. Consequently, I think that means this song is exactly the best in its own right.
Another kick ass song from another kick ass band that never made it onto a commercially released album :(
Thanks for posting it- at least I got to hear it and now I know yet another 'Tage track I still don't have.

@bjrcomputacion Paul writes all the lyrics, Jon helps with music. Jon wrote it himself on a tso forum, and it was confirmed him.

was this a song from the Criss Olivia days that just got released later, because that solo sounds like a Criss solo.
Riprandycriss94 2 years ago
yes... it was recorded during The Hall Of The Mountain King. Criss recorded the solo.

for the "dead winter dead" and the "wake of magelan"- LP and think for the first recordings of "poets and mad men" (1995 -2001 ???)
I read that sometimes, when they re playing in his town he still came up on stage to play : )
