I don't listen to consumer bullshit and the fact that so many people hated it I knew I had to try Vista and it blows away XP in so many ways its laughable. I hated XP in 2001 and now 3 service packs later I still hate it .
I run windows 7 fine.. then i kept getting black screen of death ( not loading) installed again.. next day same thing again... so i went to install xp but xp files were missing wtf? so it didnt install correct. So i install vista ultimate no problems so far !!!!! but i now have XP SP3 on VMware which is great :)
I hate windows Vista, since i got my windows vista machine for christmas i have had over 400 errors with it. Including IE7 keeps shutting down. I put it bluntley i hate it!
I used to have a real good time with XP, I had a TOSHIBA satellite L300 on XP, and I loved it. I had it for 2 years and then the screen driver packed up, and when i tried to reinstall XP i found out I needed to be able to read the LCD... hmm... problem.
Just about a month ago now I bought a TOSHIBA satellite Pro with Vista, and the only problems I've had with it so far are Internet Explorer closing down a lot unexpectedly, and the stupid Windows Security box that pops up all the time :l
Vista has beening pissing me off. So as alot of other people have been doing. im trying to install widows XP on my vista running desktop and can`t for the life of me get XP downloaded on my vista running computer got anything to tell me on how to get my XP to download.
@MadeInChina35 Well as old as your comment may be, reformatting your hard drive or installing it on another one and then reformatting the old one will and should work. With Vista and any other version of Windows, you can't install an older version over the one you have.
whenever I start control panel, windows stops working completely and has to restart. it had been like this since I bought it. windows will not replace it, or provide me with a copy of xp
Its slow if your computer is completely garbage. Vista has a ton of new functions. all you have to do is go to MSconfig and disable some start-up items.

i am using vista with all of my old xp programs and the uac (user account control) can easily be turned off. just google it. just learn to use it and it will reward you. even if i switch to mac like i am considering i will continue to use both vista and linux as a triple boot system, weather it be vista, linux, and leapord on my dell or future custom desktop or all the mentioned OSs on a mac. whichever way it goes, i know how to use vista, and i like it. and thats no coincidence.
We'll see just how smart M$ is come time to release Windows 7. If they change course and remove all the new Vista antipiracy systems running in the background that cause needless S L O W down and create hardware nightmares they'll succeed if not more of the same if not worse. People don't want this technology nor is it practical or efficient. Lose it or continue down the road of lost market share and customer alienation.
vista is waaaayyyy slower. try to delete browsing history in IE7 in vista, takes like 2 minutes. takes about 2 seconds in XP, and a split second in firefox.
I now work on xp. the vista pros certainly don't outweigh the cons, and vista is horrible for office/business use. would never use it for work applications.
I bought a new "power" computer Nov/07 when the old one died. I had it privately made and opted for XP instead of Vista due to the complaints. I stand by my decision.
Windows 7 isn't a full fledged OS. Its what Vista was supposed to be, and its only for people who don't own vista. Vista in its whole is just a beta, and 7 is supposed to be the real thing. I don't have confidence in it either.
vista - i am lucky to get a month - i did a backup with w2k - when it crashes i boot w2k and restore vista to c: (formated) drive - nero7 backup works well haven't tried it on vista - vista would be off my computer if i didn't have this apx 25min fix (i haven't had to activate the restore)
OK, so everyone's griping over Vista and the majority don't seem to care for it much, but do you think it will age well? I say in a few years, after a few patches and the hardware catches up (even though by today's standards it's still too much of a resource hog IMO) Vista might not be so horrible.
I want to build my computer so it can run games to the highest Performance, highest graphics, I dont care about price. I know I need a 768mb graphics card, and at least 2gb of ram. But how about Processor, Dose a Processor have anything to do with the performance of a game? And if so what is the top of the line best Processor for a playing games? Also dose the motherboard have anything to do with performance? Or anything else? And what is an Optical Drive, and hard disc?
I prefer Wins98 but unfurtunatly can't run it because some programs need XP. Win98 was reliable, it never gave me problems, easy to tweak and used to run way faster than XP even on my old 1.3 gig PC than the XP on 3.3 gig I have now. I don't want Vista because I know it'll be even worse.
I had a beta version of Vista on my old desktop and I liked the visual side of the OS, but I had no internet or sound. Knowing that it was a beta version I didn't really take it into consideration, since it is Vista compatible from the factory. I looked at this like I had with my experience with XP (the more expensive or cheaper version)? I went with the more expensive version [FINAL HINT: OEM VERSION WAS ONLY $165 + SHIPPING COSTS) No complaints!
Vista is like Windows Millenium. They both suck, the only people who used it were the ones who ordered pcs built with it and don't know how to get rid of it. Hopefully the next version of Win comes out quick enough before XP support dies off. My suggestion is to go with longhorn with the xp engine in it like they originally intended.
lol, im not a busniess man, and i do not need vista for the things you guys need it for. i use vista for gaming. i agree, i mean vista came free cause i ordere my coputer in a certain time range and i would not pay 99-250 dollars for it. thanks though
vista has it's issues yet parts I like of vista so I dual boot. For the curious here are my pc specs. Intel Core 2 Duo E6400, 4GB DDR2 800 RAM, 2x 250GB SATA Hard Drives, Palit Nvidia G Force 7600GT, Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows XP MCE 2005
I bought a hp dv6000 with windows vista i also have a windows xp media center disc i am thiking to downgrade should i PLZ help me i hate vista it is bull shit
get ahold of HP and get that XP disc. you'll be better off for now. don't get me wrong, Vista's nice, but for now you'll be better off with XP. right now, the only thing Vista has going for it is visual.
you know what? i used to say the same thing (about 98SE and XP). after using XP for the longest time, though, i've fallen in love with it. don't get me wrong, though. i still love 98SE just as much as when it first came out, but i'd have to say that i love XP equally as much. its given me no problems, ever.
Oh def, I'm sure the same will happen with me once I make the switch (I'm gonna have to eventually, anyway lol) but I just can't part with the simplicities of Windows 9x. Hell, its the first OS I started programming in, so because I fully understand what makes 98SE tick, I feel the most comfortable in it, security-wise, ease-of-use-wise, etc. Maybe it's just a programmer-thing, lol.
lol yeah, could be. i'm not entirely sure why MS didn't stick with 98, though. maybe improve upon 98 because its one of their most stable OS' out there and they don't support it anymore. no one does, and its sucks so much. i loved it, still have a 98SE CD, and if MS still supported it, i'd continue using it.
chances are, you probably haven't used 98 quite as heavily as i have. and which architecture are you talking about? because now there's three. i could customize in ways that XP users couldn't even imagine. don't get me wrong, though, i love XP. thats what i'm using right now. but i think soon i'm going to save up and get the 64-bit version of Vista Ultimate.
..lol I have vista and I noticed a thing.. Xp uses about 300mbRAM with nothing on (turned on), and vista 600-800MbRAM I have 2gbRAM but vista takes just enough mb RAM to make my computergame leak .. so now I'm using A 1gb USB to boost up my RAM (= ReadyBoost).. so vista has a good disign and all but the performance is not realy good.. :)
Man do I have a problem with Vista. My problem is that its horrid. I hate it. Its a sorry excuse for an operating system. Windows XP is now almost ancient and I can guarantee that a Pentium 4 with 2 GB of ram and a ARi x1950 will beat any top of the line Core 2 Duo with 4GB and a ATi 2900 XT.
I have vista i hate it. Its alot more annoying its faster than xp But it will have problems with internet explorer where it just shuts down for no reason. The new word is very annoying alot more confusing. Id love to revert back to xp
I have XP but I want to play the new cysis game in DX10 and have to get Vista and a new video card too, so I have to pay all this money and deal with a half baked OS, when all they have to do is have XP support DX10, and write games using openGL... or make cards that you can flash the new direct X into, cuz my card is stacked(675 core 820 mem) and they don't get to much faster right now and don't need to pay $500 for a freaken DX10 chip.
Im still sporting my old antique Windows XP OS here, having no problems with it at all. Its also fast enough for my taste at the moment.
Vista or XP? For me its Vista, but for other's I can see how Vista can look promising, after all XP is a OS thats over 3 years old..Quite a few years over that. So its time is coming, but I will ride my Model T tell Vista gets straightened out.
I was at a "PC store" today. We talked about vista. The salesman told me that more and more people are becoming mac users because Vista was such a catastrophe. One thing I don't get, they even sold "downgrades", by that means. If you have Vista, you can downgrade to XP ( without formatting your hard drive) which made me suspicious.
I manage a 300 PC network. I bought one Vista machine a few months ago. My user is SLOWLY getting used to it, but all the specialized software we use makes it a pain. Just ordered 60 more PCs from Dell... with XP.
vista to xp is easy on Toshiba you just got to know the hardware, and have a M$ compatible usb floppy drive for the sata drivers, or know how to use nlite :)posted here first as a good gesture the Sony model MPF88E is a compatible devicethat us not listed by Microsoft.
HERE, HERE!! Fuck MS! I am a PC user. Open office, WINKS, email, utube music, and a little super info hgy is all I need. Why do I have to put up with all this geek shit?
Vista is evil, it comes from hell, it is the devil's curse on real users!
I had bought a brand new laptop(hp dv9205us) it came with Vista, I added nothing to the computer except firefox and an antivirus software, I gave it about 6 months and just couldn't take it anymore, I downgraded it to XP, wich is what my three desktops are, and now 6 months later it still runs great with no problems and loads of apps in it, my 2 Mac's(1 desktop, 1 laptop) have OS X, if Microsoft doesn't get there shit together, it will be all Mac's from now on
the fact that MACs only control less than 5% of the computing world, and the fact, even in the 80s, the pinnacle of Apple they controlled only 14% of the computing world, i really believe Macs are of no harm to windows..
fair do's. I use mac os x, I do run vista as a virtual machine though. There are a few programs written for windows that I need for college and I enjoy using vista. (ish)
No problems with vista on my desktop, but my laptop is another story but a few weeks of doing little bits here and there, its working fine, not as fast as when it had XP but still good, and really the problems i had with vista on my laptop made me learn so much about Vista, i know not every one wants to but im likeing Vista :)
i have a brand new laptop that i got with windows xp on it and i thought oh shit i would upgrade it to windows vista home prm anyways i had no porbs getin the drivers for vista but anyways i thought vista would be fun i hate it and hope they fix up vista coz this shit is getin old takes to long to load somethin and i have a nice laptop 120 gig hard drive and 2 gigs of ram it should run things fine but it dont
history repeating , i remember execly the same yada yada yada about XP saying that 2003 server was better , or when windows NT was better then windows 95 ... people will complain until the real power users will come out and give the real reasons for why vista is better then XP
except that this time people have alternatives. Ubuntu gets better with every release and Leopard has roared out of its cage Wowing almost everyone. Also not to mention the fact that Macs now are more affordable.
Vista has caused me some problems as well. It freezes a lot on me. its my hp, i didnt return it, i use it for fun and unimportant things. I got a Macbook for any important things and such.

I might just be lucky, but I actually haven't had many problems with 64-bit Vista.
In the time I've used it, the only notable problems I've encountered are:
> Black Quicktime bar in Firefox 3
> Driver compatibility issues with Dualshocks
> One BSOD
> User Account Control (Obviously turned off now)
If I really need to, I have XP installed on another partition of my HD, so that basically solves the compatibility problems I have.
Maybe in time, I might get more driver incompatibilities, eh.

chances are, you probably haven't used 98 quite as heavily as i have. and which architecture are you talking about? because now there's three. i could customize in ways that XP users couldn't even imagine. don't get me wrong, though, i love XP. thats what i'm using right now. but i think soon i'm going to save up and get the 64-bit version of Vista Ultimate.

..lol I have vista and I noticed a thing..

It makes it seem very strange to know that an Apple laptop can run Windows Vista better than a normal PC. I was like, WTF when I heard that

Not really.

Microsoft should be making the OS slimmer and more efficient not more bloated and graphics intensive.

Anyone can "look" at a program with out opening it on any OS. Duh.

I was at a "PC store" today. We talked about vista. The salesman told me that more and more people are becoming mac users because Vista was such a catastrophe. One thing I don't get, they even sold "downgrades", by that means. If you have Vista, you can downgrade to XP ( without formatting your hard drive) which made me suspicious.

seriously, vista is going down the shithole.
shortfu 4 years ago 2
Vista hasn't come OUT of the shithole. No one wants it, no one really NEEDS vista, so it's a flop from the start.

I manage a 300 PC network. I bought one Vista machine a few months ago. My user is SLOWLY getting used to it, but all the specialized software we use makes it a pain. Just ordered 60 more PCs from Dell... with XP.
techtipsforparents 4 years ago
vista to xp is easy on Toshiba you just got to know the hardware, and have a M$ compatible usb floppy drive for the sata drivers, or know how to use nlite :)posted here first as a good gesture the Sony model MPF88E is a compatible devicethat us not listed by Microsoft.

Right now I mostly use a spare laptop my family only use to operate the wireless router and DSL Modem in the house.
It has a Intel Pentium III Processor that is 747 MHz while I have 384 Megabytes of Ram. I highly doubt I am going to update to Vista anytime soon. :)

I had bought a brand new laptop(hp dv9205us) it came with Vista, I added nothing to the computer except firefox and an antivirus software, I gave it about 6 months and just couldn't take it anymore, I downgraded it to XP, wich is what my three desktops are, and now 6 months later it still runs great with no problems and loads of apps in it, my 2 Mac's(1 desktop, 1 laptop) have OS X, if Microsoft doesn't get there shit together, it will be all Mac's from now on
fotchy2206 4 years ago
the fact that MACs only control less than 5% of the computing world, and the fact, even in the 80s, the pinnacle of Apple they controlled only 14% of the computing world, i really believe Macs are of no harm to windows..
dryendspirit 4 years ago
fair do's. I use mac os x, I do run vista as a virtual machine though. There are a few programs written for windows that I need for college and I enjoy using vista. (ish)

No problems with vista on my desktop, but my laptop is another story but a few weeks of doing little bits here and there, its working fine, not as fast as when it had XP but still good, and really the problems i had with vista on my laptop made me learn so much about Vista, i know not every one wants to but im likeing Vista :)

history repeating , i remember execly the same yada yada yada about XP saying that 2003 server was better , or when windows NT was better then windows 95 ... people will complain until the real power users will come out and give the real reasons for why vista is better then XP
egoneoteo 4 years ago
except that this time people have alternatives. Ubuntu gets better with every release and Leopard has roared out of its cage Wowing almost everyone. Also not to mention the fact that Macs now are more affordable.

Gave up on Vista the week it came out. Why go through all that junk with vista, when XP works just fine and is faster.

yeah , just wait until another OS is out and people start complaining about the new one , then you can use vista , becose its not new anymore , lol
