I live in Belgium and I help the homeless people here. Winters are icecold, minus 15 or 20 degrees Celsius, and the government doesn't do much to help them. I seek them on the streets, in stations, giving them food, warm clothes and sleeping bags. It's a shame for humanity that there are so many people homeless and so less people care about them!

@MXXX3R I am 27 right now sitting in a warm home in CT with my husband and holding a good job. I saved money from temp jobs to get back to my home state. I only left CT to go to CO because of the promise of better jobs. Obviously it didn't work out, and felt like a fool for leaving everything and everyone I knew. It was a nightmare and a hard lesson about choices, but it was a lesson I needed to be a better person. I feel sorry for you, you watch this video and feel nothing but hate.
I used to think only we Nepali are suffering from hunger and poverty, but I see it is universal. It is sad but I cannot stop hoping. We must help other fellows whatever we can do from our sides. But remember we need structural change in this world. I fell into poverty and homelessness when it came down to a choice of living where my biological father lived or living out of my car. One might label the things I experienced as psychological abuse.

i was homeless in denver for a year with my husband at age 19. i almost died of hypothermia laying on nothing but newspaper, couldn't get into shelter because if i did i would have to leave my husband outside or vice versa, or there simply no vacancies. i couldn't loiter in laundry mats bc my presence even if i was just getting out of the cold offended someone. i have never panhandled in my life i was to scared to ask bc of rejection. i dont assume anything ab the homeless anymore...

There is "a lot" of resources out there, but much of the donations go back to the state (at least in America that is how it works) I draw and paint and give all profit to non profit organizations. Homelessness is a worldwide epidemic and ppl forget they are human too. Like any society or culture there are bad and good ppl. Just like the war America is in right now, you can't end poverty but you can make a difference :)

@t0323500e The best route is to donate to the charities and agencies that help the homeless rather than giving money direct to the homeless people themselves, if you give it to them they will often use it to buy drugs or alcohol
Why don't they go to homelessness support agencies and get into crisis accommodation or pubic housing? Everyone is entitled to government money if they are unemployed so I don't understand how they can be totally broke.
@ilovetoread23 I don't know how it is in the US but here in the UK homeless people often have other problems that lead them to homelessness, like drink/drug problems or mental problems, sometimes they are running from mental or physical abuse by other people, in fact I would say the majority of them have one or more of these problems that precludes them from seeking or receiving help, often they will stay on the streets until they die or their ready to change.

@Bumptiously Okay, I understand what you are saying. There is a similar situation in Australia. What is the unemployment entitlement like? In Australia, it can be $550 per week if you choose to be a full-time mother with 2 children. Our "unemployment benefit" is handed out WAY too readily.

So far I observed homeless people is who has mental problems i.e depression etc. very common due to drugs, alcohol, or other problems (big unpaid debts from former failed businesses), or people who committed some crimes and unable to reistablish themslv.

When I crossed the border from Canada to Detroit, I saw a piece of land with homeless people. I stopped my car and wanted to cheer the homeless with my service/therapy dog. I asked about them. I saw a shirt on the ground. I asked them if I can have it. They were okay with it and then offered me many things. Today, I wear that shirt with pride. Given by the homeless in the USA. We all humans regardless of what country be end up in.

It continues to break my heart to see so many people homeless when we can come up with money for the foolish things in life, yet we forget about those that are less fortunate than many of us... According to most well knows news websites, such places as PBS, CNN, and the National Coalition for homelessness... the number of homeless people in America is 3.5, with 1.5 of them being children. Not the astronomical numbers you claimed... This video is great. I am doing an project on things that are wrong with the world for one of my finals and this was really helpful. Homelessness is one of the major issues that this world needs to deal with.
Like 60% of homeless people will never contribute to the world or are incapable of doing so due to mostly mental or behavioral issues that are inborn. I don't understand why people feel so guilty about inaction. If we stop supporting them then the weak will die out and the strong and best fit individuals will perpetuate. This is the only way to end problems like poverty- not by genocide but by elimination through competition. this is the only way to truly end homelessness in the long run.

Many homeless people in America are mentally impaired and the average citizen feels threatened to approach them. We should do more for our homeless, but the average citizen is as lost as a child as to what to do (besides donate).

Having done studies on homelessness and having actually lived in a homeless shelter for 6 months, most people who are homeless are so because of lifestyle choice. Don't slam me on this: It is a fact. Most are addicted to drugs or alcohol and most could stay with family members who have tried to help them. The exceptions are those with organic mental illness as they have no choice over their disease. This excludes the children of course, who are victims of adults decision making.
I live in Belgium and I help the homeless people here. Winters are icecold, minus 15 or 20 degrees Celsius, and the government doesn't do much to help them. I seek them on the streets, in stations, giving them food, warm clothes and sleeping bags. It's a shame for humanity that there are so many people homeless and so less people care about them!

@MXXX3R I am 27 right now sitting in a warm home in CT with my husband and holding a good job. I saved money from temp jobs to get back to my home state. I only left CT to go to CO because of the promise of better jobs. Obviously it didn't work out, and felt like a fool for leaving everything and everyone I knew. It was a nightmare and a hard lesson about choices, but it was a lesson I needed to be a better person. I feel sorry for you, you watch this video and feel nothing but hate.

i was homeless in denver for a year with my husband at age 19. i almost died of hypothermia laying on nothing but newspaper, couldn't get into shelter because if i did i would have to leave my husband outside or vice versa, or there simply no vacancies. i couldn't loiter in laundry mats bc my presence even if i was just getting out of the cold offended someone. i have never panhandled in my life i was to scared to ask bc of rejection. i dont assume anything ab the homeless anymore...

There is "a lot" of resources out there, but much of the donations go back to the state (at least in America that is how it works) I draw and paint and give all profit to non profit organizations. Homelessness is a worldwide epidemic and ppl forget they are human too. Like any society or culture there are bad and good ppl. Just like the war America is in right now, you can't end poverty but you can make a difference :)

Being homeless myself-no permanent address haven't had one for almost 2 years now , i blame the banks i lost my job took another one looked for others and slowly lost everything in less than a year i managed to get a job at 7-11 and am now going to technical school to be a motorcycle mechanic, not all of us are to blame for our situation i had my job for 6 years thought that was the one i would retire from! i slept in my van last winter how about you? sold most possessions to get it .

@ilovetoread23 I don't know how it is in the US but here in the UK homeless people often have other problems that lead them to homelessness, like drink/drug problems or mental problems, sometimes they are running from mental or physical abuse by other people, in fact I would say the majority of them have one or more of these problems that precludes them from seeking or receiving help, often they will stay on the streets until they die or their ready to change.

@polygamous1 System is corrupted, but not to the point as with socialism, where basically everybody were working to buy milk and bread and may be, may be one pair of shoes for a monthly salary working as an engineers, teachers... . So far I observed homeless people is who has mental problems i.e depression etc. very common due to drugs, alcohol, or other problems (big unpaid debts from former failed businesses), or people who committed some crimes and unable to reistablish themslv.

When I crossed the border from Canada to Detroit, I saw a piece of land with homeless people. I stopped my car and wanted to cheer the homeless with my service/therapy dog. I asked about them. I saw a shirt on the ground. I asked them if I can have it. They were okay with it and then offered me many things. Today, I wear that shirt with pride. Given by the homeless in the USA. We all humans regardless of what country be end up in.

It continues to break my heart to see so many people homeless when we can come up with money for the foolish things in life, yet we forget about those that are less fortunate than many of us... My heart really goes out for them. Today I gave a homeless man some money to get a meal... That impressed me to do a term paper on the homeless. I love the video great job. Thank you..

did you do your research of good sources before making this video? According to most well knows news websites, such places as PBS, CNN, and the National Coalition for homelessness... the number of homeless people in America is 3.5, with 1.5 of them being children. Not the astronomical numbers you claimed... If you are going to put stuff on youtube, please get your facts straight, otherwise you get people like me, who didn't watch your video past the first 15 seconds because of the errors.

Like 60% of homeless people will never contribute to the world or are incapable of doing so due to mostly mental or behavioral issues that are inborn. I don't understand why people feel so guilty about inaction. If we stop supporting them then the weak will die out and the strong and best fit individuals will perpetuate. This is the only way to end problems like poverty- not by genocide but by elimination through competition. this is the only way to truly end homelessness in the long run.

There is a key example of the irresponsibility of homeless people. The child will probably be cared for until he's old enough to help himself, if the government would shift it's funds from helping grown ass adults who are usually defective to society to aiding helpless children. When of age, the child should be expected to fendforitself

Having done studies on homelessness and having actually lived in a homeless shelter for 6 months, most people who are homeless are so because of lifestyle choice. Don't slam me on this: It is a fact. Most are addicted to drugs or alcohol and most could stay with family members who have tried to help them. The exceptions are those with organic mental illness as they have no choice over their disease. This excludes the children of course, who are victims of adults decision making.
