@perlinette My, ang gandang katulong naman yan. If you noticed, hindi maganda yung audio kaya hindi mo talaga maappreciate ang boses niya. i am a kapuso but i agree with you pakyo. good thing they didn't renew the contract with the idol. on lea, wow, i have become a big fan here on youtube! as always, her voice is enchanting.
FYI lang. this version that she sang is actually a barbara straisand version that came out in the late 70s. she did a great job copying that. the song is played with a really low key for her which might explain the 'face".
Wow she does look great and I'm a massive Lea fan (even if she's never been to Ireland to sing) but I have to say that was the very first time I've not liked her version of a song. Jazzed up little orphan Annie? It just didn't work, and I've seen her sing Kim and Les Mis and she hasn't screwed up her face like that... as Simon Cowell would say, "it was a bit indulgent"

People Why the hell are you fighting over some stupid reason ! For some Lea is their I dol for others she isnt , get over it! Lea was one of the first actresses from the Philippines to ever step foot on broadway and do a professional play so thats why she is a Filipino pride . If you people keep arguing and hate this comment I posted I dont care because I am only speaking My mind. ....You Rock Lea!~

it's none of your business seethru009; what do you expect her to sing? some kind of rock and rnB shit. . . it's like asking why the sun is hot, where supposed you want it to be cool. . .
Although she's an awesome singer in the Broadway style, her voice doesn't fare that well in pop, which is why she probably chose something Broadway but with a pop twist.
Have you heard any other Lea Salonga albums?! If not, I reccommend: Inspiration, Lea Salonga, Ultimate OPM Collection, and Lea In Love... I'm sure you'll change your mind about that comment! She's not full blown pop - She's Adult Contemp. Pop!

I don't like her voice as much when it comes to any kind of pop and yes, I have heard her other albums. Do I not have a right to my opinion without it needing to be swayed?
wtf?can u just sing the same way she does?see, almost everyone can sing rnb, hiphop, rap and pop songs, whatever you wanna call it.thus, those genre are too much of a COMMON thing to ask.now she sings a different genre of music and paved her way to the top in that line and you call it what eh?see,it's like dancing folk dances-not everyone can do it,compare to hiphop dances.you see,she has a different voice and rarely will you find one in the world that has such good voice as leah.get a life!
It is just so amusing that people assume things about posters they've never seen or met. How do you know who's posting here - what if the person posting is another international singing sensation? YOU DON'T KNOW.
At least kahit balot na balot sya, may boses naman sya kaysa compare mo sa mga sexy stars na try hard kumanta. Wala silang boses kaya show off nalang sa pa-iksi ng mga damit.
LOL! dear, even if she dressed herself with a sack, her singing and her lovely face would still win the crowd over. At least the same crowd that doesn't hoot at the dancers in wowowee.
@gaara06318 thats right!shes not trying to b all sexy n stuff so people would listen to her...other singers would dress up like their breast r about to come out of their tube top!!!com'on!!!!i just lover her:)

No song is a struggle for Lea. She makes every song she sings her own. It's called feeling the music. Only singer artist can understand this other from poor commentators.
funny ano? pero sa miss saigon at les miz, nakakakanta siya ng sobrang taas at sustained notes na nakaluhod, nakadapa or natakbo na hindi pwede masira ang mukha. sinadya nyang struggled looks niya para lalo nyang feel
OK everyone, this arrangement of Tomorrow is straight off of a 1978 album by Barbra Streisand called Songbird. We all know Lea loves Barbra so it's unsurprising she used her arrangement.
The melody and arrangement were actually lifted from Barbara Streisand's cover of the song...Lea sang it well although she did not improvise....this was from the musical "Annie", right?
Listeners should notice that the triplet feeling is much "looser" and has a "swinging feeling" when compared with the eighth note feeling. The ability to play in a swing style is of utmost importance to the jazz player. It is not the ONLY style that he/she needs to master , but it is a basic building block for the jazz musician.LEA DID IT PERFECTLY.Kudos!
Any melody can be played in a jazz fashion by putting a feeling of triplets behind the basic beat. In fact, one of the common practices of jazz players is to quote melodies from various sources in their solos, including classical pieces. By putting the triplet feeling in their playing, they are said to be "swinging" the melody. It's one of the difficult types of music to sing.

Hindi siya hirap. The arrangement was jazz and you have to do riffs with jazz. In order to do good riffs, you have to use a lot of body movements and facial axpressions in order for the riff to work. It was excellence as usual on her part.
