Superb. Standing ab wheel rollouts are tough as hell (at least 6 months consistent tri-weekly training for most fit people) without the added weights. Good stuff!
I understand the extra weight makes it more challenging, but I've always been advised against using heavier resistance for ab movements.....that heavier weights don't lead to ripped abs. heavy weights develop bulkiness around ab area.
most of my understanding of weight training comes from the early 90s so quite a few things I see being done now goes against what I was taught. plyometric pushups for example...seems like you're asking for pec tear doing that.
@fourcorneredroom Personally, I think that is a misconception. Bulkiness around the midsection is going to be attributed to genetics, fat distribution, and body fat percentage. I have also seen other people do this exercise with weighted vests eg. ross enamit, he does them with 3 vests. and he has shredded abs without any bulkiness.
But hey, you can always test the theory out on yourself and see if you get bulky or not and make adjustments from there.
thanks...I'm fortunate to be an ectomorph..but I'm no longer 25 so I'm more cautious about working out.
used to do insane roman chair movements while holding 45 plates and other movements that felt great, fed the ego...but may have not been particularly effective in the long run. and doing damage to my back.
I feel like the abs are like other muscles....heavy weights=hypertrophy lower weights high reps=more definition
It's good to hear another school of thought though.
@fourcorneredroom lower weights high reps does not = more definition.......a bigger muscle is going to be a more defined muscle. It is about bodyfat %
was that Coolio in the background? lol
Anyway, those are super hard, good job.

Bruno, why the weight vest on an ab movement?

@fourcorneredroom More weight makes it more challenging. It would be too easy for him without a vest on.
