@NORZWOLF There is a Slovakia flag in one of the offices. I enjoyed this lip dub, firstly for the song, secondly for the girls (wow for the red-capped blonde and the green-turbant brunette!!), but mostly because they seem to enjoy so much the performance that make me feel happy. Thanks for sharing and congratulations
One important reason to make this film is the hard working-climate. It´s not uncommon that people are working 10 to 12 hours every day. It´s like a group-pressure, working demand that goes all the way from the top and down. I have met people who are nervous wrecks of the workload. And how can people get time for children if they have to work so long hours. The clerks from newer states are worst off since they get less paid than other countries. Office closing-time should be latest 18.00..
It is extremely narrow-minded and out-of-date to attack people working for the EU institutions just because they earn a good salary... and show to the outside world that it can be fun. But it all depends on the environment & colleagues, of course...
I don't think that EU employees get up every morning and think about how to have fun at the office and at the expense the taxpayers money!!!!!
and... Belgium is NOT the only country in the world with high income tax rate!
In response to "noelialabelga", I don't think those EU workers are the first to be blamed for the 40% tax in Belgium. Let's reconsider our completely unefficient political system and our excellent capacity to waste monney where it's not necessary. Let's also think about the jobs created by those institutions in Belgium (including many Belgians). Don't misunderstand me, I'm not a pro-EU activist but I don't think either that EU is the only one to be blamed for our problems.
Im not Belgian but I know that the reasons because we payed more taxes than in other european countries is not just EU institutions. And I know too all the advantages of having here this institutions.
I just wanted make the reflexion... All of us pay this people to work so they work for all of us, dont forget it...
Very funny and welldone but, it's sad that all these people are, in fact, being "very WELL payed" by OUR taxes. (Allmost 40% of our salary in Belgium...)
I wonder if in private sector I could do the same...
If you got to the "officelipdub" website (on that site you can also find this one in higher quality btw) you will see that many, many people in the private sector have done the same thing.
It all depends all on your colleagues. If there is someone who is creative enough to write a story board, another who's got a good hand with the digital camera, a PC whizz & a whole bunch that are willing and fun enough to spend 2 and a half hours in the evening with you in the office --- go for it.
Erm, what's all this stuff? Why do so many out there (actually it seems to mainly be one person) find it so hard to believe that a group of people who work together might get together one evening to have a bit of fun? Even if - shock, horror! - they work for the EU... It's superbly done, but really all you need is a couple of hours, a camera, a home computer, a few ideas and a bunch of people who are up for it. Good for them, say I. So chill out folks, that's the internet! Just enjoy
Damn!! Où est mon pot-de-vin alors??? C'est vraiment trop injuste!! J'exige mon percentage des pots-de-vin!
Do you honestly think that because two or three corrupt people betrayed the trust of their government, their institution and their colleagues, that all of the EU officials are the same or conduct themselves in the same manner???!
If working life was really this way in the EC I would really try to stay in Belgium after the end of my contract...but unfortunately most of times reality here is very very different...so I'm looking forward to coming back home to Spain, where we can celebrate friday all the week and we enjoy life even working more hours than here...!! It's simply another way of living and seeing things...
Fun video, congratulations to your workmates, this was a really fun thing, very well orchestrated and put together and a blast to watch. Happy new year and hope you all have a great one!
This is a wonderful video...and to all of those complaining about taxpayers' money use...pls. don't take things so seriously...and better be concerned with others kinds of real waste of people's money, not only at EU institutions but in your local, regional or national govts!
AWESOME !! Excellent team building example. The fun you had together certainly built a stronger team spirit. When the atmosphere is good, you just work more efficiently. You guys understood it all. YOU ROCK !
Semplicemente: grande! Interpreti eccezionali e coreografia superlativa.
During lunchtime... hem, sorry this is a professional work and absolutely not a "good improvisation". After hours, hahaha : probably a "short friday" (as 3 of 4 in the EP).
Well, have a look at this and think a few seconds, if you can, of the effect such a "funny video" can have from the outside.(I hope you understand franch language):Salaires de misère, manque de reconnaissance...
By the way the EU is not responsible for the terrible living/working conditions in BXL or Belgium.... the whole country is joke, they should be happy that EU-people stay there and tolerate the miserable conditions... I would move the whole EU to a normal country.....
Everybody is welcome to join a EC or EP competition in order to become an official and live then abroad, leave friends and family behind, build up a new life whilst working and living in a foreign language. Not interested? Wanna stay in your home country? Then do not complain.
If the European Institutions decided to move elsewhere than Brussels, I bet those cashiers would probably earn much less - or worse, be out of a job!
The only thing ridiculous here is your making a mountain out of a mole hill. If you are really that jealous of EC officials, why not spend time studying to pass a concours instead of pissing on everyone's parade?
Mar 30, 2007

In response to those who criticise the so-called use of THEIR taxes, especially the ones from Belgium!
If there is something to criticise about the use of Belgian taxpayers' money is:
1. the 5 governments and all the attached ministries, community authorities, etc...
2. the social security system which allows people to abuse benefits (especially unemployment benefits)
You don't have to be a pro-EU activist in order to realise that EU is not the only source of our problems in this world....
