2. Does atmospheric carbon dioxide raise the average global temperature?
3. Will this influence be enhanced by the addition of more carbon dioxide?
4. Have human activities led to a net emission of carbon dioxide?
If you are able to answer no to any of them, you should put yourself forward for a Nobel prize. You will have turned science on its head." (George Monbiot "Heat")
On Feb. 2, 2007, the United Nations scientific panel studying climate change declared that the evidence of a warming trend is "unequivocal," and that human activity has "very likely" been the driving force in that change over the last 50 years.
its just a cool way to show the children how its this planet getting hot... i must admit that my self learn a lots with these and it would be awesome if this gets transladet to a difirent lenguajes... in my case would be spanish
Great vid! keep going with saving the planet .... im tryng to do some stuff but were all in these together !!
The sun is obviously heating the planet. The greenhouses gases -- CO2 and others, the we are emitting with our powers plants and cars -- are driving greenhouse effect which leads to global warming. Of course the sun is the source of heat. The source of global warming though is the greenhouse gases which TRAP the heat. CO2 is trapping the heat which is leading to climate change. This is simple, basic info. that even a child can understand.
Guys, it's not a fact about oil companies and what not. it's government control and carbon taxes on COWS. It's insane, and the science does not all add up It is not 97% (who knows where you got that from.) The sun spots do flare up. The sun is a huge ball of fire people, a massive ball of fire, how can we over look this fact?
I think this is a stunning animation, with beautifully clear, and accurate, commentary. It's very light on solutions - which in many ways is a good thing - but those it hints at don't suggest that business or government have a part to play. A welcome change from a lot of the corporate crap churned out by NGOs.
Only criticism: implying that "civilization" going is a bad thing. Maybe he meant "society".
"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."
I don't care what you think. Just carry on doing what you do, while those of us who have the nous to start surviving get ready for doing just that when the shit hits the fan. Some people will always be in denial; they are best ignored - which is what I will do to any response you give :-)
The equivalent of sticking one's fingers in one's ears and shouting very loudly to prevent the hearing and therefore consideration of any statement that contradicts a held belief.
I see that you have moved on very little from adolescence. i would expect that retort from a child, I foolishly presumed that you could provide a stronger argument. I now realise I was mistaken.
No, because I at least have the academic endeavour to read both sides of an ongoing debate and come to my own conclusion, rather than you sir; you obviously believe in insulting those you do not agree with instead of supporting your own beliefs.
listen do the maths if you don't believe it!!!! it' basic arithmetic, it is a normal human reaction to fall in to denial when the facts are in front of you...take time to absorb it, after you have read the facts...and stay away from government sites...they mess with the way they word things....but anyway a really good video

We are at a tipping point where socialists and communists are soon going to use lies, propaganda and bullying to destroy our economy and standard of living. Fortunately we can do something about this; the world has enough guns for 1 in 7 people to arm themselves. We can rid the world of this menace if we all work together.
There is actually nothing in the world that is 'indisputable fact'. The best we can do is deal in probabilities.
By now even the IPCC admitted it was more than 90% likely that warming was cause by human activity (the ORIGINAL IPCC report actually says more than 95% likely) - and warming IS FACT. It is because of selfish and ignorant people like you that the world will sit on its arse and do nothing in an attempt to preserve its 'right' to its wasteful and selfish 'living standards'.
That is if you accept the IPCC's report as true. Some might say that a panel who rely on the existence of man made global warming may not be 100% impartial.
You cannot, to any extent - even a very limited one, claim that man made global warming "IS FACT". The evidence is thin and the argument is flawed.
Wake up, freak out, then get a grip, then realise that it isn't your fault.
I didn't say 'man made global warming' was fact, I said 'warming' was, but in any case both is likely to the extent that anyone who dares to ignore is highly irresponsible.
Despite the IPCC 'relying on the existence of man made global warming', 1990 they still managed to report that "observed increase (in temperature that is) could be largely due to natural variability". If anything IPCC reports are watered down because of political interference.
TRuth is, there has never been such an agreement amongst scientists around the world about anything as much as there is about 'man made global warming' and anyone who refuses to believe that is deluding him/herself.
Either way what is wrong with the idea of sorting out our values and getting a bit less greedy & wasteful and wanting to live in a cleaner and safer environment? That's what I don't understand...
Well, how about gravity, atomic structure and the biology of common mamals?
In scientific terms, man made global warming is as disputed as any other unproved theory
There is nothing wrong with leading less wasteful lives. Driving a smaller car, only buying food we are actually going to eat and recycling our resources so they last for longer... My problem is that people are being bullied into accepting impractical and expensive changes to the way they live under the pretence of global warming
Theories...you mean like evolution? That's just a 'theory' as well, right? Wrong...it's not JUST a theory. A scientific theory isn't just thrown on the table without backing evidence but is well supported by it and is peer reviewed over and over again.
All 'proven' theories are accepted or rejected on the basis of how probable they are and as I said they are subject to being challenged over and over and over again.
The evidence for climate change is overwhelming. Deal with it.
Stop spreading lies. Climate change is real and it's being caused by humans. Most scientists agree on that. What is your authority, some right-wing freak who owns lots of coal stocks?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Climate change is a natural occurrance, any climatologist will tell you that climate is simply a long term weather pattern, therefore it is never constant.
There is considerable evidence to dissuade you from the belief that humans are causing this change.
Ah, yes, the old tactics of labelling dissenters as members of the oil and coal industry. I can assure you that I am not.
If you come up with an argument more substantial than attacking me personally, i would like to hear it.

(Search for "Global warming swindle" on GoogleVideo)
Watch this documentary were they explain why global warming is bullshit. If u dont belive it, then u should start blaming the volcanos cus they are the biggest "global-warming-gas-producers". You fools. Gather some information before u make statements.
after watching the global warming swindle (which i did) please also go ahead and watch the interview discussing this documentary.
global warming is as gloucesterharry says a natural occurrance and volcanoes od play a big role. however the anthropological (human-made) impact on the climate is also backened up by the majority of scientists. volcanoes, we can do hardly anything about, whilst quitting coal and start driving electric is an easy one to do... cheers
Volcanos play a very small role, about 1% or less. That's a fact. We are pumping billions of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere and that is what is causing global warming. It's science, it's fact, it's indisputable. The people disputing it are right-wing fanatics worried about their taxes. There will be a refund from carbon caps, so relax.
Sorry friend, I don't belive we are causing climate change.
Global warming is a ploy to band together for more government control. (Watch how many carbon taxes come out that YOU have to pay for my friend.) The sun is a HUGE ball of fire and to think the sun has no affect on our climate is both ignorant and assinine.
What, observe something? That would hurt their eyes!
Yeah, the ice is melting more than any time in human history. But it's all caused by volcanos, so nevermind. Funny I don't seem to recall stories in the news about lots and lots of volcanos erupting lately though. Weird.

This is socialist propaganda. Company directors and consumers are always to blame.
Economic freedom is important. Democracy s important. This film advocates confiscating freedom from individuals and companies. The questionable science aside, that is what I find most disturbing about it.
Take a stand against environmentalist propaganda. Use your freedom before they take it from you and dont believe what you are told, much of what environmentalists tell you is wrong.
The quickest most effective way any individual can contribute to dramatically decreasing their ecological footprint is by turning to a vegan diet. Look into it.
Yeah, go vegan, stop flying, think about the impact of all you do. It's not enough though - if everyone who cares enough to do those things did it, we'd still have billions of people left to ruin everything! We need to fix things so the price of things does a better job of reflecting their true cost - much as I try to be optimistic about human nature, relying on six billion people to change their ways out of pure altruism is just hopeless.
The data is not a hoax, interpretation is clear to those with eyes to see - speed and depth of melting is increasing every year. Eastern Antarctica is getting colder: because the air and sea all around is WARMING and wind speeds are increasing. Every glacier IN THE WORLD is shrinking.
The rate of sea level rise is increasing yearly.
Think Global, Act Local
Change your diet: Go veg, Cut your consumption: Be Frugal, Demand Immediate action from your Government: Get into Renewable Energy
The corporate elite are counting on people not getting involved in this environmentalist socialism. Those who have the inclination and intelligence to look it can see that no part of the theory of man made global warming is indisputable fact. It is all open to question. Ruining the world economy at the expense of the most vulnerable is morally abhorrent, regardless of your intentions.

Satellite data says in 2008 more ice than in 2007. Check U of Illinois Cryospehere and IJIS IARC Data of Sea Ice Extent graphs. And even IPCC admits that part of melting was due to dark particles from Russian forest fires, factories, diesel ships etc. Danish scientist Svensmark has his teory about cosmic rays under test in CERN. Antartica is freezing. Planet is cooling. Don't blame CO2, it just follows temperature, not drives it.
Sounds like you're on a different planet, mate! You can extrapolate the data however you want but the REALITY is our climate IS changing - and human activity IS responsible for it. If you've got any kids, please wake up for their sakes!
It's not disappearing. It is still there even though we can't see it. It's invisible you see. Me and hegesippus2 live on jupiter's outer moon ganymede. Hope that helps.

Thank you soooooo much! C'mon people, these guyz worked so hard to make this film the least we can do is SPREAD THE WORD! Blog about it, email it, post it to Facebook and MySpace, whatever it takes. Make sure the world hears about it AND sees it! We really HAVE to - for the sake of the planet and future generations. Do it NOW!! ;-)
This is a very succinct and engaging film. I hope that millions of people watch this and learn.
I went into a crippling depression when I first heard about this (via the originator of Gaia theory) and about the Holocene Extinction Event. I've only recently come out of it.
I'm of the opinion that the tipping point is inevitable because, as history has shown, those in power will not change their ways unless forced to, usually by violent revolution.

"1. Does the atmosphere contain carbon dioxide?
You will have turned science on its head." (George Monbiot "Heat")

it's called Climate change for a reason. Global warming was a rather young and naive term. It's said Climate Destabalization would be a better term.

what is the song at the end of this?
doridori13 2 years ago

Great vid! keep going with saving the planet .... im tryng to do some stuff but were all in these together !!
moncoviita 2 years ago

Well done, Leo.

Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Propaganda Minister

The lie in this case being that there is sufficient doubt about climate change that we have an excuse for not taking serious action now...?

or the lack of data to support the theory of man made global warming.
Sooner of later, you will have to find a better counter argument to people sceptical of man made global warming than calling them right wing liars.

Very funny. Is Exxon paying you?
97% concensus among climate scientists is enough for me.
shellius 3 years ago 4
I don't care what you think. Just carry on doing what you do, while those of us who have the nous to start surviving get ready for doing just that when the shit hits the fan. Some people will always be in denial; they are best ignored - which is what I will do to any response you give :-)
farnishk 3 years ago
This was in response to all of gloucesterharry's comments, BTW.

I now realise I was mistaken.
gloucesterharry 3 years ago
Are you retarded? Seriously.
shellius 3 years ago
No, because I at least have the academic endeavour to read both sides of an ongoing debate and come to my own conclusion, rather than you sir; you obviously believe in insulting those you do not agree with instead of supporting your own beliefs.
gloucesterharry 3 years ago
there is no ongoing debate
its over
there has not been a single peer reviewed scientific paper debating the reality of global warming in years
hutsod 2 years ago 2
listen do the maths if you don't believe it!!!! it' basic arithmetic, it is a normal human reaction to fall in to denial when the facts are in front of you...take time to absorb it, after you have read the facts...and stay away from government sites...they mess with the way they word things....but anyway a really good video

We are at a tipping point where socialists and communists are soon going to use lies, propaganda and bullying to destroy our economy and standard of living. Fortunately we can do something about this; the world has enough guns for 1 in 7 people to arm themselves. We can rid the world of this menace if we all work together.
gloucesterharry 3 years ago
There is actually nothing in the world that is 'indisputable fact'. The best we can do is deal in probabilities.
By now even the IPCC admitted it was more than 90% likely that warming was cause by human activity (the ORIGINAL IPCC report actually says more than 95% likely) - and warming IS FACT. It is because of selfish and ignorant people like you that the world will sit on its arse and do nothing in an attempt to preserve its 'right' to its wasteful and selfish 'living standards'.
gardenofmidnight 3 years ago
That is if you accept the IPCC's report as true. Some might say that a panel who rely on the existence of man made global warming may not be 100% impartial.
You cannot, to any extent - even a very limited one, claim that man made global warming "IS FACT". The evidence is thin and the argument is flawed.
Wake up, freak out, then get a grip, then realise that it isn't your fault.
gloucesterharry 3 years ago
I didn't say 'man made global warming' was fact, I said 'warming' was, but in any case both is likely to the extent that anyone who dares to ignore is highly irresponsible.
Despite the IPCC 'relying on the existence of man made global warming', 1990 they still managed to report that "observed increase (in temperature that is) could be largely due to natural variability". If anything IPCC reports are watered down because of political interference.
gardenofmidnight 3 years ago 2
TRuth is, there has never been such an agreement amongst scientists around the world about anything as much as there is about 'man made global warming' and anyone who refuses to believe that is deluding him/herself.
Either way what is wrong with the idea of sorting out our values and getting a bit less greedy & wasteful and wanting to live in a cleaner and safer environment? That's what I don't understand...
gardenofmidnight 3 years ago
Well, how about gravity, atomic structure and the biology of common mamals?
In scientific terms, man made global warming is as disputed as any other unproved theory
There is nothing wrong with leading less wasteful lives. Driving a smaller car, only buying food we are actually going to eat and recycling our resources so they last for longer... My problem is that people are being bullied into accepting impractical and expensive changes to the way they live under the pretence of global warming
gloucesterharry 3 years ago
Theories...you mean like evolution? That's just a 'theory' as well, right? Wrong...it's not JUST a theory. A scientific theory isn't just thrown on the table without backing evidence but is well supported by it and is peer reviewed over and over again.
All 'proven' theories are accepted or rejected on the basis of how probable they are and as I said they are subject to being challenged over and over and over again.
The evidence for climate change is overwhelming. Deal with it.
gardenofmidnight 3 years ago
NO IT'S NOT.
Stop spreading lies. Climate change is real and it's being caused by humans. Most scientists agree on that. What is your authority, some right-wing freak who owns lots of coal stocks?
You're an idiot.

Watch this documentary were they explain why global warming is bullshit. If u dont belive it, then u should start blaming the volcanos cus they are the biggest "global-warming-gas-producers". You fools. Gather some information before u make statements.
Phatcheroc 3 years ago
after watching the global warming swindle (which i did) please also go ahead and watch the interview discussing this documentary.
global warming is as gloucesterharry says a natural occurrance and volcanoes od play a big role. however the anthropological (human-made) impact on the climate is also backened up by the majority of scientists. volcanoes, we can do hardly anything about, whilst quitting coal and start driving electric is an easy one to do... cheers
kurthurtig 2 years ago
Volcanos play a very small role, about 1% or less. That's a fact. We are pumping billions of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere and that is what is causing global warming. It's science, it's fact, it's indisputable. The people disputing it are right-wing fanatics worried about their taxes. There will be a refund from carbon caps, so relax.
EssteeJ 2 years ago
Sorry friend, I don't belive we are causing climate change.
Global warming is a ploy to band together for more government control. (Watch how many carbon taxes come out that YOU have to pay for my friend.) The sun is a HUGE ball of fire and to think the sun has no affect on our climate is both ignorant and assinine.

Great clip!
The quickest most effective way any individual can contribute to dramatically decreasing their ecological footprint is by turning to a vegan diet. Look into it.
white2007 3 years ago
Umm, no thanks. When shit hits the fan, ill just eat your kids.
jehnubis 3 years ago
Yeah, go vegan, stop flying, think about the impact of all you do. It's not enough though - if everyone who cares enough to do those things did it, we'd still have billions of people left to ruin everything! We need to fix things so the price of things does a better job of reflecting their true cost - much as I try to be optimistic about human nature, relying on six billion people to change their ways out of pure altruism is just hopeless.
0olong 3 years ago

But this film gives me some small hope.
