  • im currently stage manging ... first time ... this helps

  • This video is strangely mesmerizing.

  • This is a heck of alot for the Stage manager to call, a professional stage manager doesnt call as much as this!? its down to the lighting designer to cue the lights, the stage manager just cues lights up at the beginning.... you sure this isnt the Lighting designers Mic?

  • @Classicalytrained Well really in professional shows some of the lighting cues are automatically pre programmed and stored into the console depending on what console is used. We are a school that use an very small budget console and we can only store so many cues. so we need a director to tell us what slider goes up and when

  • @jordanjedwardedwards Oh wow, i didnt realise this was a school! what a fantastic show :D

  • When I am stage manager someone else calls the light cues. I just tell my crew when the props/sets go on and off and when actors go on. And when the stage is ready for lights up. That's the only light cue I call. The rest are done by the light booth.

  • Is it bad that I only had one headphone in? And on the same side as stage coms! Can't wait to be my High-school's manager next year!!!

  • why does velma look like a cat ?

  • I am stage manager for my elementary school production haha

  • I assume this is done during performances aswell as rehearsals?

  • @DominoFaz..Yes, atleast from technical rehearsals on.. Sometimes after blocking is set, on simple light up and down cues (pending how much it ties into the blocking), there is no fixed way, but generally yes. Your spot operators in particular need to be familiar with character names and should have a idea where they will be. But as technology is growing now a days a lighting operator needs to simply press "show start" and not haft to touch anything else.

  • I am Stage Managing our production of Hairspray this year. So excited. Cool to watch very seemless.

  • It's good to know that the way I call a show is pretty much how others do it.

  • this was exretremely useful thanks.

  • thanks this helps because i am stage manger at my school this year and ti helps me see what i should be doing

  • this has so helped me in our major show thanks M8

  • Really cool vid... but who wrote the cues? 75.5 strikes me as confusing. Why not follow the jump by fives standards in case of revisions?

  • @shapedy sometimes a lighting designer leaves room for extra cues that are inserted after most of the board has been recorded. If there isn't room they use .5 cues.

  • This is really neat to see! Thanks for posting!!!

  • love this :)))

  • This was interesting. Thanks for posting! :)
