  • @will101page -- Frankly, for a Londoner to call Los Angeles a massive dump is preposterous. Your city has crap weather, an out of shape alcoholic populace, angry rampaging youth, expensive terrible food, dreadful work ethics, and the most disingenuous people in the English speaking world. Your upper class standard of living rivals LA's middle class. Getting back to San Francisco: As my grandmother would aptly say, "Nothing wilts faster than a laurel that has been rested on". HEAR HEAR!

  • LA kicks San Francisco's ass in almost every way and as evidenced below, San Franciscans perpetually vomit grandiloquence and vitriol over this inconvenient truth! I have never seen a city with such an acute case of "little dick syndrome" as San Francisco. When faced with San Franciscan superior attitude, Angelenos just roll their eyes and snicker. LA people don't give a shit. That said, SF is a wonderful city in it's own right, but it is no Los Angeles and never will be. Signed, A New Yorker.

  • @bamkablam I would have to disagree completely, I have visited LA and SF many times, and while SF appears to be a great place to live, LA just looks like a massive dump. It is dirtier, uglier, and not as friendly as SF. Signed, A Londoner

  • @theeartofseduction FUCK YOU BAY AREA SHITS ON EVERYONE your just butthurt cause your too broke to make it out here

  • San Francisco cos Monk lives there

  • well i'll admit san francisco is a better place to live in cause it's obviously not compared to the size of L.A. plus if your not used to dealing with hours caught up in traffic and and driving around a town like the size of L.A. then your better off staying in san francisco... i mean san francisco has bad traffic to sometimes but it's an ant's hill compared to L.A. but when it comes to entertainment L.A. is the place.. L.A. is the captial of entertainment in the world....

  • San Francisco.

In spite of being a smaller city, it feels like a bigger city, larger downtown, more dense, more pedestrians.

  • I like my clouds and cold weather. But nah! Despite living in the SF Bay Area my entire life, I prefer to relocate down to L.A and the rest of So-Cal. We have too many liberal, hippy, fruity, sissy, wimpy, retarded, tree hugging, weirdo, queer, jungle loving, trailer trash, Wiccan, occultist, leftist shrimps up here in the north. Sure L.A has more dense traffic but I think it's easier to get around down there unlike here where we have these annoying hill tops, curvy roads, and narrow pathways.

  • hmmm a city of gays or a city of popular celebs hmmm...... LA DUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • @UncrownedGlobe3 Hmm a city with a beautiful landscape in the back and crisp weather vs a crowded, smoggy city.

  • @abehammy well look at the populations whoat city has more population... LA so thats how we settle this and the only reason we have a lot of smog is because we have lots of people if you had more people it would be the same way.... at least we have waaaaayyyyy more land than u

  • @UncrownedGlobe3 Yeah, not denying that you have more land. I go to LA frequently cause I have family there. I like it but I am more grateful for being able to be in SF.

  • @abehammy ya but im glad that i live here becuase it is bomb they have EVERYTHING

  • r u stupid la is way better than sf that city is so GAAAAAAAAAY

  • Easily LA. LA is superior to SF in every way except for perhaps public transportation. LA is developing a better public transit system so that shouldnt be a problem. Other than public transportation, the only thing LA is missing to make it the most perfect city ever established are an NFL team, state of the art NFL stadium, and a larger convention center. All of these will be addressed within the next 5 years.

  • FUCK BOTH OF THEM.

  • Which city is least racist?

  • SF HANDS DOWN!!!!

  • they're both good

  • Just between SF and LA, LA by far.

    LA has:

    *1-month long County Fair

    *More lively nightlife

    *authentic Mexican food!!!

    ...to name a few.

  • @B4ULoveShine Mexican food? bullshit we have authentic mexican food too ! u just don't know san francisco

  • @RadicalCoolDude Okay, name me a place, since you implied I fell for the exaggeration "SF doesn't have an authentic Mexican food joint."

  • @B4ULoveShine ُEL TOREADOR

  • @RadicalCoolDude dude, you just mentioned a Mexican restaurant OUT of state. <_< Try again.

Also, another reason why LA is better than SF: LA has better ISP selections and one of them offers no-cap internet; SF is under Comcast monopoly and even worse, has a usage/content cap!

  • @B4ULoveShine haha outta state? just look it up on google maps dude .. the address is 50 West Portal Ave

    San Francisco, CA 94127-1304

    (415) 566-8104

i know what im talking about :)

the internet here is just fine .. i can't complain about it.. and i mentioned b4 that i prefer LA however, i dont agree with the way u r trying to make LA looks better .. i mean ok LA is much bigger than SF and has a better nightlife but authentic mexican food? come on we definitely have it here (remember the mission)

  • @RadicalCoolDude I actually moved to The Bay since this past late June, and man, having had access to Verizon FiOS--best ISP, according to various PC mags--back in LA and I have to say, it's HELLA ironic The Bay has so many tech companies, yet the residential internet is capped, downthrottled, and by default, limited, if we're just talking about AT&T and Comcast.

As for El Toreador, I'll go check it out, before I decide to which enchilada I'll stick with: SF or LA. I hope they have Jarritos.

  • @B4ULoveShine Go to La Cumbre too. Nothing better than having some good Mexican food with a chilled glass bottle of Mexican Coca Cola.

  • @B4ULoveShine

    SF by far. SF has:

*Pier 39/Fisherman's Warf (which is year long)

*Far more beautiful sights (such as Golden Gate Bridge, Bernal Heights,Twin Peaks, Alcatraz)

*Authentic Mexican food (idk if you've even been to SF)

*One of the largest recreational parks in the U.S. and i believe the greenest park in the world (Golden Gate Park)

*The largest Chinatown outside of China itself

*A baseball franchise that can run it's team without debt and win the 2010 World Series

    ..to name a few

  • @ejdubb115

I've been to Pier 39 and enjoyed the view. Yeah, it's gorgeous. (On a sidenote, I had been to the Berkeley Marina :3).

True, it looks like Hollywood overshadowed other LA tourist spots, but this is coming from someone from SoCal.

As for authentic Mexican food, I am willing to admit my bias, since I found one in Berkeley, not in SF proper.

As for parks, hm, I'll go check it out.

Re: Chinatown: I actually got lost in this Chinatown. >_<

  • @ejdubb115 (to be continued)

re: baseball - at least, SF Giants had the benefit of having dedicated ownership, unlike Frank McCourt, whose original plan was to buy the Red Sox and even bluntly told the LA Times, "I'm a Red Sox fan, but bought the Dodgers, since they were the only one available for sale at the time"; it doesn't help he effectively turned the Dodgers into a Red Sox farm team.

As for public transportation, Ford & GM destroyed LA's public transportation system, before WWII.

  • @B4ULoveShine (not enough room)

    *Better transportation system

  • @B4ULoveShine Huh? SF has authentic Mexican food as well.

  • los angeles is better than san fransico in san fransico they are so neat and Los Angeles there are many gangstersSan Francisco and has no fun and no such things as compton south central low rider santa monica and hollywood Bech nice atmosphere and the palm trees and so many fun things los angeles that San Francisco is not San Francisco fock everybody understand what I mean !!!!!!!

  • @mcpandetfunmovies

oh yeah, of course. getting robbed or killed is a lot more fun.

  • @mcpandetfunmovies i dont think anybody understands what you mean. you seem to put random words in your sentences.. maybe its no punctuation. Yes, definitely from LA. No places like Compton? Third and Mission, Hunters Point, Tenderloin, Diamond Heights there's a lot more too. Before you run your mouth why don't you come over to the Bay and talk. If some SoCal fanboy gunna come over to our side of Cali than take an extra trip to Oakland n Richmond too, not like we need them to take pretty boy LA

  • @mcpandetfunmovies So living in a city with more gangsters is better? That made my day!

  • @abehammy no its the street skils

  • @mcpandetfunmovies You're still saying living in SF is not good cause gangsters in la make it more fun. Have you ever been to SF? If you haven't, then you have no right to say that it's no fun.

  • whats the 1st city you think about when you think west coast and california??

LOS ANGELES the bay is cool but will always live in LA's shadow

    Southern Cali boy

  • Northern cali is the place 2 be

  • Southern California has the best climate in the world!! We're driven to succeed, we know how to hustle, we innovate and yes we're totally materialistic and self absorbed;)

  • IF YOUR OLD AND WANT TO SETTLE DOWN THEN I GUES SAN FRANCISCO IS THE PLACE TO BE ...BUT IF YOUR YOUNG AND WANT TO HAVE FUN ..L.A IS THE PLACE TO BE TRUST ME...HOLLYWOOD...NOT TOO HOT NOT TOO COLD WEATHER...BEACHES....JUST MORE EXCITEMENT OUT HERE THEN S.F IN MY OPINION.....IVE NOTICE THAT PEOPLE IN S.F HAVE LIKE A SMALL TOWN MENTALITY..AS TO L.A PPL ARE MORE HOW CAN I SAY INTERESTING...

  • IM 4RM LONGBEACH BUT IVE LIVED IN FRISCO FOR 4 YEARS..& WHAT IVE NOTICE IS THAT PEOPLE IN FRISCO OR ANYWHERE IN THE BAY HATE L.A IN A TYPE OF WAY TO WERE I THINK THERE JEALOUS IN A TYPE OF WAY..& AS FAR AS OUT HERE PEOPLE DONT REALLY EVEN CARE TO GO TO FRISCO UNLESS THEY HAVE FAMILY THERE...ITS LIKE WE DONT EVEN NOTICE THE BAY AREA BUT THE BAYAREA ALLWAYS COMPARES THEMSELVES TO US...& MY FREIND FROM NEWYORK TOLD ME ..ITS SIMPLE..ITS BECUZ THE NORTHERN CAL WILL ALLWAYS BE IN SOUTHERN CALS SHADOW

  • Comment removed

  • @vladradforpres5 The Los Angeles metropolitan area, also known as Metropolitan Los Angeles or the Southland,[1] is the 13th largest metropolitan area in the world and the second-largest metropolitan area in the United States. Perhaps you're over thinking it.

  • Never been in CA, but the first place I'd like to visit in CA is SF. A lot of people that have gone to LA haven't spoken too well about the city. LA seems to be like more of the same of what I see here in the east coast, like New York, Miami or Atlanta, except for the mountains and the coast. SF seems different and interesting.

  • @EricPR239 very true

  • San Francisco, the bay area in general, is better than Los Angeles. We don't need hollywood. We have history, location, great people, good business area. Silicon Valley. It's a win. But I do like LA too. I just think Frisco is better. :D

  • But if you are considering metro-area then LA might win out (yes, all those theme parks and Hollywood are not in LA).

  • You can be in a ghetto like the Tenderloin, blink and be surrounded by multi-million dollar mansions a few blocks away. SF has more resources to spend on the public. As an example SF's budget is about $6.5B vs LA's $4.7B (for 10x land size and 4.3x population). That said SF is much more expensive than LA for everything. LA has a thick layer of smog. SF has no smog but it does get lots of fog. Anyway, when compared city to city SF has much more to offer.

  • Yes LA is way more populated than SF. But, SF is more than 2x as dense as LA. In LA you need a car for everything (even to go from one store to another in the same strip mall, lazy) in SF you don't. In fact, you are much better off paying for a taxi or taking public transport than trying to find parking or paying up to $18/hr for it. LA has no real borders that whole area melts together. SF is tiny with clear borders and unique neighborhoods.

  • @HendrixnTonic i agree SF transportation system is way better than any other city on the west coast and maybe one of the best in the country !

  • LA all the way!

  • I'm french and i'm going to SF this summer, i just can't wait!

  • San Francisco, home of the 2010 World Series Champions!!! San Francisco Bay Area is the original Hollywood and the mother city of California.

  • LA all the way baby!! There's WAY more to do in LA. SF is nice but gets boring quickly! Plus, SF has nothing but a bridgeLOL... What's so great about a bridge?

  • LA ALL DAY EVERYDAY. BEEN TO SF PLENTY TIMES, ALL IT IS IS A CITY BY THE SEA. LA IS WAY TO SPRAWL AND HAS TO MANY DIFFERENT ATMOSPHERES INCLUDING EVERYTHING SF HAS TO OFFER AND THAT IS THE SEA LOL. LOS ANGELES IS LIKE A CITY NO OTHER, SO FUCK ALL HATERS. YOU CANT COMPARE SF TO LA!

  • @KOBEBRYANTLAKERS1 im from the philippines and visited both cities to find out LA sucks Sf is a better city.

  • GAY AREAAAA!!! lol

i prefer socal... why do you think more than half of california's population lives in socal and most of all of socal's coast has been developed... unlike norcal where its just in the gay area.

  • @DaygoJer that's why you guys have so much smog down there! less people have asthma and lung problems in SF than in LA. we got more natural sources of fun like tahoe or yosemite. it's healthier up here. there's nothing much in socal other than the LA area either. san diego doesn't even deserve to be compared to either of the two aside from weather and beaches. more people live in socal because there's more space and less nature. you have smog we have fog. we only need sun in summer anyway lolz.

  • @DaygoJer i agree with you of Socal being a better place to live; however, there's a reason why Socal coasts are well developed and that is "weather" it is almost impossible to go to the beach here ( in SF) without catching a cold..

  • sf + bay = all the way =D sf would be my choice =)

  • DA, SF is way fukin better

  • Screw Gay Bay

  • @gonzs818 screw sun valley.

  • @gonzs818 screw sun valley. wut ya get for insulting mah city!

  • SF is my choice!

  • SF BAY AREA ALL DAY !!

  • although i live in SF but i prefer LA, and in general i prefer Socal over Norcal

San Fran is still pretty good too and i like being here

God Bless America (if god doesn't exist then Science bless America lol)

  • I was born in LA n have lived in SF for 10 yrs. As a Californian I love BOTH cities. SF, however beautiful n important is a small city - 7 miles across with 800,000 people. LA is HUGE: hundreds of sq-miles w/ millions of people. Each has its pros n cons. SF often compares itself to LA and shows disdain. However LA compares itself to NY not SF. SF should be compared to Seattle or Boston. LA should compare itself to NY or Chicago. That would be more accurate.

  • @shwmehvn no way LA needs easier cities. SF needs NYC.

  • I live east of the MS River, but as great as both cities are I find San Fran having the better skyline, (not saying that their better at everything)

  • Best city in the world LA! So many things to do there!

  • @hernanviera3 "so many thing to do there" ... i guess you've never been to San Francisco

  • @hernanviera3 i agree with ejdubb. Whats there to do in LA...you can AFFORD?

  • San Francisco is beautiful but I prefer LA. I guess because I grew up in LA and can't imagine myself living in SF. Everyone likes different things. Both are great cities.

  • Some of these numbers are off. The city of Los Angeles is more like 3 million population and the metro area is about 12 million. The city of San Francisco is about 800,000 and the metro Bay Area is about 7.3 million. I live in the Bay Area & wouldn't trade it for LA for a million bucks.

  • San Francisco and the Bay Area is 1000000000 times better than L.A and the L.A metro area plus we got better weed

  • why the hell does it show a picture of paris, new york and london

  • @killercalifornia707 i live in miami and im thinking to move to cali. i cant decice what city is better for growing pot?

  • @southerncomfort4200 SF forsureeee there are more cannabis clubs than there are starbucks here literally!

  • @southerncomfort4200 if you want to grow bud, then you should move to the bay area, because of humbolt county

  • @fgarciaish "but SF could never hold a candle to LA's diversity... and also the amount of music, art, culture, access to beaches you can swim in... not to mention all the options to live in very different parts of the city that can suit many kinds of lifestyles." are you retarded san francisco is the most culturally diverse city in the united states and possibly in the world for instance chinatown has the highest concentration of chinese people in the world besides china

  • LA LA!

  • Los Angeles all day!!!!!

  • @FROMTHAT213 nah nih bay all day

  • i grew up in the San Fer Valley in LA and lived in the East Bay for 9 yrs... both have their benefits. but SF, as in the small 7mi x 7mi peninsula, is a great place to live but only if you can afford it. most people these days are priced out.

but SF could never hold a candle to LA's diversity... and also the amount of music, art, culture, access to beaches you can swim in... not to mention all the options to live in very different parts of the city that can suit many kinds of lifestyles.

  • @fgarciaish i thought u were describing SF in the second paragraph cause san francisco is way more diverse ... like WAY more

  • @ejdubb115 it's a hard comparison honestly. both cities have a minority-majority. SF has a larger asian population and LA has a larger latino population. But where LA starts and ends is another issue. Same for SF... it's a fact that Oakland is more diverse than the city. LA has its large ethnic communities like koreatown, mid-city (oaxacan, central american), thai town, etc. SF is good though, b/c it's laid out in front of you, and immediate. LA is huge and layered and takes a while to absorb.

  • SF Is way better

  • there is no other city in the whole world like Los Angeles it's the heaven on earth

the only city that is better than LA is New York City the capital of the world..

  • @TripleA3 it sounds like someones a fanboy for poster cities but rarely visits cities of culture

  • @ejdubb115 what culture!!

if u're talking about culture then u'd have to talk about NYC not San Francisco !

NYC has way more culture than SF

  • @TripleA3 ... does LA have more culture than SF? cause thats the argument and what i was talking about ... and NYC actually doesn't have WAY more culture than SF (just a question - have u been to SF)

  • @ejdubb115 look i've been living in SF for more than two months now, i used to live in San Diego and before that i lived in LA and even before that i used to live in Miami so i know exactly what i'm talking about, yes i did not live in NYC but i have been there for a short time and i know a lot about NYC and i don't know how u define the word "culture" but NYC is known as the cultural capital of the United States

  • @TripleA3 I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT NEW YORK! GET THAT INTO YOUR HEAD! I AM TALKING ABOUT SF vs. LA!!!

  • @ejdubb115 i just wanna know your definition of the word culture? what is culture for you?

  • @TripleA3 Havent u heard of the famous SF sTreet art? cause i never heaRD of nyc art. See, to me, culure is the social ppl and art. Mayb sf is art and NYC is ppl. Now everyones happy except other ppl. btw this is LA V SF. howd NY pop in?

  • Comment removed

  • San fran is a dense urban place where you have to go on my idea of hell (Public Transport). I like LA because it has a suburban feel and you use the best invention ever to get around( The Car!) And the weather is better and I like the look of the city better and it's not filled with ENVIRONMENTALISTS!(Which I really really REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY HATE SO MUCH!) And the crime rate is actually lower.

  • @Jamcad01 Lol, did you just say LA has a lower crime rate than SF? HAHA

  • @Jaxis1337 Actually Jamacad01 is correct? San Francisco's violent crime rate is 35% higher than LA's and San Francisco's property crime rate is over 50% higher than LA's. Don't be fooled by the stereotypes, San Francisco has some real bad hoods. People get shot and robbed all the time in SF.

  • @Jamcad01 are u a redneck?

  • i love sf

  • C'mon now that's not even a question. SF hands down. Frisco has history. It had to rebuild from the ground up years before they even thought of making LA. But my favorite cities (and I've been to very few) are SF, Barcelona, Berlin, Munich, and Moscow.

  • @peckawoodd I'm afraid I couldn't let this go unchallenged. Los Angeles was founded as a city in 1781, only 5 years after a mission was established in what is now San Francisco. By the time of the 1906 San Francisco disaster, LA had a population of around 315,000. "Frisco" has no more "history" than LA.

  • I like SF and the Bay---That's why I live here. I have a lot of love for LA too though. If I couldn't live here I'd live there. And it's true we do have a lot older and richer history. But @peckawoodd if you like our history so much why do you call it "Frisco"? Anyone with the slightest bit of knowledge about SF\The Bay's history knows not to call it that (Unless you're from So. Cal...).

  • San Francisco is way better for quality of life, crime, clean air, and its a very beautiful city with alot of culture and good transportation.

  • @clubkid14 ah crime's actually higher in frisco

  • los angeles is not the birthplace of the internet it was invented by Sir Timothy John "Tim" Berners-Lee, a british engineer and computer scientist. it all happend at the european organization for nuclear research(CERN) in geneva switzerland.

  • @livininpoland That's the world wide web. He means the actual internet that was invented for the army

  • this is a joke right? LA only has Hollywood (basically one nice street) and beverly hills other than the rest of the city is a a rathole... San Francisco has clean air, great variety of public transportation, the bridge, and much more!

  • @timosha21 Public transport sucks

  • where's the best opportunities for IT specialist, SF or LA? I'm web developer.

  • @RnRMan13

SF def, im a web dev also and there are so many opportunities especially in silicon valley.

  • @ELESNEM i guess there's hard competition among IT specialists

  • I can't really talk since I have only been to SF, and believe me, when you are from ireland, any of those places is like disneyland multiplied by 1000 for me! San Francisco is more laid back, and has a different kind of feel to it, with L.A, so I've heard, there is a huge vibe. I would love to see everything in L.A, but after that I would say seen it. Whereas for San Francisco, it's so pretty I almost can't leave, so I'm choosing San Francisco.

  • I'm from the bay area. I would have to say SF is better, BUT Chicago beats both cities hands down.......

  • L.A. is the best.

SF is not even in the conversation.

  • I'm from LA and I love both cities. San Francisco is not LA and LA is not SF and thats what draws people from LA to SF and vice versa. Traffic in SF could be just as bad as LA's and so can the crime. But its the urban feel to SF that many gravitate towards. And it's well preserved history.

If both cities had a baby together it would be the best city in the world.

  • LA is better. It's the entertainment capital of the world, has the West Coast's largest shipping port, it's metropolitan area makes up the worlds 3rd largest city economy (ahead of cities such as London and Paris, behind Tokyo and New York). LA is synonyms the world over with beauty and sun. The biggest income for San Francisco is....tourism! LOL! No offence to my SF hippies out there, SF is a cool place to visit, and the Bay has some gd tech companies too, but it's not in the same league as LA

  • SF OWNS.

  • SF ALL DAY. SF OWNS

  • S.F owns

  • You really cannot compare SF and LA...I grew up in LA, and I've never thought less of san francisco...

  • Don't compare the two, were all Californian's, fuck NYC and Texas.

  • San Francisco = Cosmopolitan

    Los Angeles = Fashion, Entertainment

San Diego = Vacation, chill, laid-back, a getaway from chaotic cities.

  • @DaygoJer San Diego? wth? haha

  • @ejdubb115

haha shut up :) its true tho!! sd is between city and suburb, im talkin bout downtown... its small but it still feels like ur in a city just more relaxed tho

  • Fuk SD

  • Just because Los Angeles' downtown doesnt look dense doesnt mean their no better than SF. and Just because SF has a short dense skyline doesnt mean their NYC, their SF. Los Angeles and New York City are the two most filmed cities.

SF's population is sooooo small, only in the hundreds. Even San Diego has a larger population in the millions place.

  • @DaygoJer

You're right that within San Francisco's city limit there's a smaller population, but San Diego is far more sprawled out. San Fran has about 50 sq. mi of land while San Diego has over 300, thus San Fran's population density is over 10 times that of San Diego's. The San Diego metro area has about 3 million residents, while the Bay Area has over 7 million. I don't know if you're trying to say anything about San Diego/San Fran, but leaving the facts where you left off is misleading.

  • @glassboy The more dense the worst it is.

  • @Jamcad01 Okay if what your saying is true then how can you compare New York City to Tokyo in being more dence the worse the city is. there are alot of other cities in the world that are way bigger and more dence than San Francisco and they can be either better or worse because it is completely random.

  • @Jamcad01

Never made a judgment as to whether denser cities are better, just wanted to put facts out there. Typically cities that are more sprawled out put more stress on the environment (commuting, encroachment on habitats, etc.), making denser cities more environmentally sound, but saying which is better or worse is just a matter of preference. I love California, from Needles to Eureka, so I don't intend to put one CA city against the other, I love 'em all. Just letting the facts be known

  • @Jamcad01 ummm. nope. thats not true

  • @glassboy

i wasnt talking about san diego metro. i was talking about san diego or san diego county not metro area which includes tijuana and all that. sf is a small square with 3 waters on its side and a mountain on the other dont cheat and include the whole bay area... as i wasnt referring to san diego metro but county. and sf is both a county and city so what i said does count. county against county san diego wins.

  • @DaygoJer "Don't cheat"? Haha, ok? In all fairness SF city and county completely overlap (they share 100% of their geography) so an asymmetry arises when comparing SF county to SD county. Because of this, comparing their metro areas would probably be more appropriate as this is more reflective of an area's economic, cultural, and political influence. I just thought the facts you listed off painted an inaccurate picture. I'm from SoCal, I wasn't trying to prove SF is "better" or something.

  • in the hudreds?

uhh hello SF has over 800,000 inhabitants.

  • @SeS120

i meant only hundred thousands... which isnt a lot.. maybe for sf since its a small city.

  • Every city has their different culture DUH, if they were all like NYC their wouldnt be any uniquenes in all cities.

The food scene is both good and bad in both SF and LA.

what i've notice about SF ppl tho is that they think their better than the other california cities. And a lot are big-headed cuz they think that their NYC, thats a joke haha SF has no neon lights and height like NYC. Los Angeles does.

both cities have pros and cons.

  • Los Angeles is the largest city in California and second in the nation after NYC.

I would prefer Santa Monica pier over the Fisherman's wharf i would choose Hollywood blvd./ Universal Citywalk/ Nokia Plaza over Union Square

And Los Angeles' nightlife throughout the whole LA county over San Francisco's dense looking shorter skyscrapers any day. Cuz really, what can you do in those tall buildings??? Just gaze at from the streets or Yerba Buena island.

  • Los Angeles hands down, although i do love San Francisco. In one day you can go to the desert, beach, city, forest, and snow in one day and Los Angeles is home to many theme parks: Disneyland, Six Flags, Universal Studios, Knott's berry farm and maybe more haha. Hollywood is a major area, downtown has Nokia Plaza which kind of resembles NYC's Times Square or Tokyo's Shibuya. Los Angeles' skyscrapers are way much taller. population is massive and yes Los Angeles has subways and light rails.

  • Yeah I know. What the fuck does San Fransisco have besides Full House and Rice-a-Roni?

  • @nume26 you've never been ... ive been to both cities and i have to say that San Francisco is better (i visited with people that lived in each place so i got the full effect and Sf was better)

  • Hands down San Francisco. LA, in general, is a sprawled out city that resembles a large suburb. The weather is better in LA than SF, but thats it.

SF IS MORE DIVERSE, more urban, has more character, culture, and is the heart of California. They dont call San Francisco the "New York of California" for nothing.

What people in LA have to drive 45 minutes for, people in SF drive 10 minutes for. It takes all of greater LA to match SF alone.

And the food scene is WAY WAY better in SF. Cant compare

  • I love both cities, I am a SF Bay Area native who moved to LA after 30 years. If I had my way I would have an apartment in both cities, both areas are different, and I find them unique in their own way. It's very hard to compare. I currently reside just outside LA.

  • I am confused!! I wanna move to CA but I dont know what city should I go....btw, I am senior transfer student I dont even know which school!!! maybe u find this funny but I really need some advices...I been only in LA once....I dont know the rest of the state.

  • @Atefsou LA has more colleges and is cheaper but if u can afford it, go to SF

  • San Francisco!!

  • cant compete. Los Angeles IS the powerhouse in the state. San Francisco gets all the credit because its next to the bay. if it was more inland then it would be even.

  • @8ONE8KING thats like saying, LA gets all the credit because: and then list one of its features ... thats one of the many reasons why SF is awesome

  • Yes LA has 9.9 milion people but LA makes up of tons of cities, SF's pop. is on its own, not considering the population of the entire Bay Area.

If you include the other cities in the bay its 8.5 million.

Include the valleys (Napa, San Juaqin, Marin) thats 10.2 and MOnterey / Sacramento Counties it's now16.4 million.

Besides NY and Hawaii, SF always ranks top 3 of tourist destinations for the US.

In all due respect both are winnerst and is what makes California unique.

  • San Francisco also outranks LA in tourism, job market, and corporate companies.

Yes LA is larger and has more to occupy someone, you can only have so much fun on a LA salary.

But I will say this, I choose San Francisco over LA any day, but Los Angeles is the place I go to get away from here cuz its a lot of fun in LA (minus the traffic, smog, and litter)

A lot of bay area locals were born in LA and moved here, and love it here more, so I will never hate LA.

SF Bay Area & LA rock~!

  • Twitter, Myspace, Facebook. (top networking companies in the world)

Boeing, Microsoft, IBM, Apple, Cisco, Chevron, BP, 3Com, Oracle, (top 10 companies in the fortune 500)

ALL SF BAY AREA companies that are based and started here.

"E-Comerce", "World Wide Web", "Financial Industry/Stock Market", "US Weapon Defense", "Satelite Technology", "Radio Broadcasting"

ALL STARTED IN THE BAY AREA

The first television, first live TV broadcasting, first radio station,

    ALL STARTED HERE.

  • @hawaiianplayboy1 you've made several errors. Microsoft is based in Seattle, and was actually started in Albuquerque, New Mexico. IBM was founded and is based in New York. Boeing was founded in Seattle and is headquartered in Chicago. They have nothing to do with the Bay area. Yes, SF bay has some great internet and tech companies like Cisco, Oracle etc like you mentioned, but so does LA. MySpace, game developer Activision, THQ among many others are all headquartered in LA. Plus LA has all the

  • Hollywood & adult entertainment companies. Some may argue that Los Angeles is not as 'pretty' as San Francisco in terms of architecture (ex. Golden Gate Bridge, Victorian Houses) but I disagree with that. There are many magnificent homes from the Hollywood Golden Age here, and actually many Bay area residents that make money have a home in LA somewhere - Malibu, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills etc. LA is a global city with great companies and a place to be seen, SF is more of a tourist destination

  • Bay Area!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • whoa whoa the bay area and LA both
