  • i candled mine on the 4rth day it looked exactly like that. not its the 19th day and i cant tell if theres anything in there anymore, i dont know if they died or what?

  • @vruble500 If it looks almost all dark except for a pouch of air on one side, that means it's alive.

  • @URAbunnylover2 ohk thank you but i have another question will an chick start peeping in an egg before its born?

  • @vruble500 sometimes it does and sometimes it doesnt. But usually it peeps about half a day before pipping the shell

  • @URAbunnylover2 ok thank you so much:) today is the 19th hopefully they will hatch:]

  • y is there an x on it

  • @imuzaq1 There is an X drawn on it because it helps me know how to turn it when i have to. There's an O on the other side.

  • can you show use how the chicken looks like? pleas.

  • i have duck eggs and its the same

  • Very good image of the 'spider' - Thanks

  • hi is everyegg like that at 4 days as i am new to hatching chickens?

  • @Habbzo123 Every egg should look like this at 4 days. If it is incubated at a temperature too low, it may take a little longer. Also, you can't tell through brown eggs until day 6

  • @URAbunnylover2 it look like 5th day

  • how to know weather the chick is mail or female

  • @sheokand2592 You can't tell until they are 3 days old. Females will have longer wing feathers than males.

  • @sheokand2592 only can see after hatched

  • Hey bunnylover :) remember me? Im getting incubater for christmas to hatch the chicks :D

  • @geckolad1 Awesome! What kind?

  • if my quails are having fertile eggs, when do i get unfertilized eggs to eat ?

  • @cherryblossem231 You can remove the male if you want unfertilized eggs.

  • @URAbunnylover2 Thanks ( :

  • i just found a quail egg today , how much does a fertile quail egg weigh

    thanks and nice vid

  • @cherryblossem231 you can't tell if an egg is fertile just by weighing it. Fertile eggs and infertile eggs weigh exactly the same. Although, you can find out how many days ago it was laid by weighing it.

  • im incubating 15 silkie chicken eggs, supposedly they are fertilized. the temperature in the incubator has been 98-100 and the humidity 55-60 for four days and I have not noticed the spider like embryo forming. I candled them and they do show signs of fertilization but im concerned they haven't developed that stuff yet, help! :( I don't know what to do.

  • @ebenavides5 Usually you can see this on day 6 or 7 with a regular flashlight. Also don't forget to turn the eggs 3 times a day! You might also want to lower your humidity to 50%. The temperature seems great so just wait 2 or 3 more days. Sometimes you just can't see it yet.

  • I just chick my eggs and all eight of them are doing good

  • @tytracy12 good for you! How many days have they been incubating?

  • @URAbunnylover2 it day 5 and i saw all of them but i just notice one has a big circle and one has vanes that are relly red but all the other ones are doing fine

  • @tytracy12 If you only see a big circle and no veins that means that one is dead

  • @URAbunnylover2 well 6 of them are doing good

  • PAY ATTENTION!! Day 12 or day 14 is best for candling. Get a good LED flash light.

  • @wileycoyoteengineer I know, but I'm pretty familiar with how to candle eggs gently. This one was just for fun and didn't change the hatch rate at all :)

  • Wait it is alive

  • @k5935 Yes, it was alive, moving, and 17 days later this one hatched and was named Shadow :) He's still alive today.

  • If a egg is like that it means it is not alive look at answers.com

  • @k5935 no, that's wrong. This egg was alive and hatched. It's actually the other way around. If an egg DOESN'T look like this it's most certainly dead. Who told you that if it looks like this it's dead? Don't trust all websites, they aren't all accurate.

  • i remember that sight with my duck eggs

  • @urabunnylover2 well done m8. Well done :)

  • hey great videos bro nice incubator too! Yo dude i boaught a wicked flash light cost me 7 euros batterys included! RIP OFF, any how bro the darn light dont shine throught the egg, i say a dark thing flowting around then i see a darker dot for like 1 second, thought i was seeing shit, do u think my chicks are living? 4 days old too, and how do i solve this candling problem, i wanna see in my eggs clearly, oh and the temp gos to 99 in the day and 97.5 in the night is that a danger?

  • @CookaChicken if you see moving spots, thats a good sign :) sorry that your flashlight sucks. yeah, i think i got one of those too. i cant see a THING. i had to get another one that was about $30. you can get a better flashlight, the one i used in this video is a REALLY old flashlight. yeah, if you see a floating dot its good. if you even see MOVEMENT, its fine. sometimes looks are deceiving. oh and you might want to raise the temperature. 100 during day and 98 at night is what you want :)

  • Could a very bright flashlight work?

  • @Aerodil Yes, thats exactly what i used. dont buy those special candler lights because they are a rip off and a flashlight works just as well lol

  • I also put a little rectangle food container lined with paper towels on the bottom of the cage, but she removed all of the paper towels.

  • Love you videos! I have a m & f cockatiel. The female sits on the eggs (5) for most of the day (except to come off of them to eat), but at night after I cover them, she gets off the eggs until the next morning when I uncover their cage. The male never sits on the eggs and she chases him away. I candled the eggs this morning (11/30) and saw little veins on 2 of the eggs (1st layed on 18th, 5th on the 26th). Since they get chilled overnight from no one sitting on them, will they still hatch?

  • @whitehorse607 they will be ok. She probably sat on them a little overnight. Lower temperatures cause them to hatch late, which is not a big deal. High temperatures are FAR more deadly then low temperatures. As long as you clearly see veins, even if there is no movement, they are alive. Older and more developed eggs can keep their heat better than younger ones. The first one she laid is 12 days old, so it shouldn't suffer from the chill. The 4 day old one may have suffered a little.

  • @URAbunnylover2 thanks for your help! I'll check them again in a couple days. : )

  • The incubator is working nice job :)

  • @MikeCarap where did you get the incubator? i went to a pet store and they said they don't sell incubators....

  • @besamemucho5 I actually made that incubator. Normal local pet stores don't sell incubators. I hardly know any store that does, but you can go to a feed store where hay sell chicken food and various feed for farm animals. I live in the city and even I found a feed store. They are rare where I live, but if you find a feed store I'm sure they have one. They usually have hovabators. Get one with a fan, they work better :)

  • @URAbunnylover2 thank you for replying to my question so fast...there is a feed store where i buy the food for my lovebirds i will try there to see if they have an incubator ...otherwise just like you i will have to make one myself....thank you again

  • I have a homemade incubator and 5 eggs in it and the temparature is always between 36 and 38 degrees. IS THAT TEMPARATURE OKAY???

  • @st96nikola 36-38 is okay, but try to make it between 37-38 because 36 is a little too low. :) Also make sure humidity is between 50%-60% and turn eggs 3 times a day.

    Hope they hatch!! ;D

  • @URAbunnylover2 My tempreture went up in my homemade incubator to 105f at day for i lowered the tempreture as soon i saw it go up will it still be ok?

  • @ididapoo My temperature went up once and killed a few. its not good for the temp. to go up like that. do you know for how long? does your incubator have a fan? if it doesnt that might save them. candle them and see tomorrow how they're doing. it might have not killed many, but it is fatal. Good thing you lowered it. i know, it happens sometimes.

  • @URAbunnylover2 Yeh thanks alot dude but unfortunatley they all died but good news is that i got new eggs and started it again and i fix my incubator to not go above 105 f but my only problem is that i can get the tempreture perfectly on 98.6 and to 98.8 will only a few degrees from 99.5 matter? i think it will just make the hatch a bit later? thank you for the fast reply lol how do you know so much about incubation anyway if you dont mind me asking? :D

  • @ididapoo I sent a Personal Message with my reply :)

  • @URAbunnylover well, i don't have a digital thermometer but the temp changes between 35 and 40, i don't usually let it go under or over that range of degree.

currently its at about 36-37.5 degree celsius

    :)

  • @MrNelrockz well, 36-37.5 is a little low. remember, the average between 36 and 37.5 is around 36.8. that's low. try to get the average to be 37.5.

  • so to find the average, i would add 35 + 40 = 75 and then divide by 2 which is 37.5

so does that mean the internal temp of the egg is 37.5?

i used 35 and 40 because those are the temperatures that my incubator runs between, it usually never goes above or below that 35 and 40 temperature range.

so is 37.5*C OK for the internal egg temp?

  • @MrNelrockz Yes, 37.5 would be the internal temp. but, are the two temperatures EXACTLY 35.0 and 40.0?? theres a difference between 35.0 and 35.4 for example. the average between 35.4 and lets say... 40.3 is 37.9. thats a little too high. so it does depend what .1 of a degree is 35 or 40 ON. yes, 35.0 and 40.0's average is 37.5, but are you sure you're getting the CORRECT average? .1 of a degree matters a lot. if you dont have a thermometer that reads in .1 degrees, get one!!

    :)

  • @URAbunnylover *sighing huge sigh of relief* that was close. so i dont have to worry too much do i?

  • @MrNelrockz No, not really. Just make sure the temp's average is always between 37.3 and 37.9. I have a thermometer that tells Max and Min temperatures, and it measures in .1 of a degree. I just see the min and max, find the average on a calculator, and that's the temperature within the egg. Larger eggs like chicken eggs are better at keeping a constant internal temperature than smaller eggs like quail. So no worrying.

  • @URAbunnylover thanx again, after u said that a temp between 35-40, i was releived

    :)

  • @MrNelrockz Glad to hear that :) But don't think that the INTERNAL temperature can vary between 35-40, only the air temperature. The internal MUST be between 37.3-37.9 ALL THE TIME. But you still don't have to worry.

  • @URAbunnylover2 thanx for the reply, i really appreciate it

    :)

Now, you know how u said to keep the temp between 37.5 and 38.5*C?

Well thing is, my incubator actually varies between 35*C and 40*C, is this OK for the eggs, i am trying as hard as I can to get it at a good temp and the closest i can get to is maybe 36-37.5*C

  • @MrNelrockz Yeah some incubators DO do that. My incubator varies between 98.1*F and 100.8*F. It's hard to keep it steady. I guess 35-40 is okay. I know it's very hard to try and make it so it doesn't vary so much. If you're incubating larger eggs the variation doesn't harm the eggs as much as if they were small. It really depends what the internal temperature is anyways. What I do is find the average of the two temps to get the internal temp. Try to keep it around 37.5*C

    ;) Good luck

  • Do I need to incubate the chicken eggs at 37, 38 or 39 degrees celsius?

    Thanks In Advance!

  • I am new to this incubating chicken eggs thing so I have a question;

Should I incubate chicken eggs at 37*C, 38*C or 39*C?

    Thanks In Advance!

  • @MrNelrockz If you have an incubator with a fan, incubate them at 37.5*C. If your incubator doesn't have a fan, incubate at 38.0*C. Don't let the temperatures vary TOO much. Try as hard as you can to keep the temps in a .5 degree range (37.5-38.5) Any lower or any higher can be harmful. Also, keep humidity between 50%-65%. Humidity is VERY VERY important! If you don't have humidity in could seriously affect the eggs. Also, turn eggs at least 3 times a day.

    Happy to Help!! ;)

  • I tried candling my eggs, but didn't have a dark room. I can see dark yellowish areas that just looks like yolk, but it seems to against the side of the egg, not in the middle. The eggs are various ages, but they look pretty similar. The darker area is larger on some. It isn't really easy to access the eggs as my lovebird is very protective. She laid them on the bottom of her cage, under her food dish, so I have to wait until she is on a perch or eating, then I quickly pull off the cage top

  • @ticnangel How many days has she been sitting? During days 1-2, you will see a dark center. Yes, it will be on the side. It's the yolk. on day 3 or 4, you will begin to see the smallest dot with a few veins spreading out. If you don't have a dark room or a bright flashlight, don't be frightened if it takes you until day 6 to see anything. The spot will become bigger with more veins. If it's past day 7 and you still don't see development, they may be infertile.

  • I really appreciate these videos. I have a pair of lovebirds, and I wanted to candle their eggs, but didn't really know what to look for. Now thanks to these videos, I can try. Lovebird eggs are a whole lot smaller than chicken eggs, but at least I know what to look for.

  • @ticnangel Your Welcome :) I'm posting quail candling videos soon. They are very small.

  • will you be able to see anything at day 2 or 3?

  • @TheJubjub1310 I didn't see anything on day 2. On day 3 I could see the tiniest red circle in the middle, but only in my white eggs with a powerful flashlight. In brown eggs it's almost impossible to see anything until day 6.

  • wat was ur heat and temp like did it flucuate much or was it the same all the way through like line goes to 90-95f when i open it to turn them or add water is that ok it goes back up to 98-99 in a matter of 10-15 mins and my humidity goes from 45 to 60 i am told thats ok tho...

  • @aussievillthaboss in the incubator i made, whenever i opened it it would go to like 95 degrees but raise back to 99.5 in a matter of minutes. usually it took 3-4 minutes for it to raise back up to 99-100 degrees and 60% humidity.

  • how long do i wait b4 candling the eggs like when will it show life 4 days or 2 or wat???

  • @aussievillthaboss i actually began to see life at 3 days but it was very hazy. on day 4 its clear. but with my brown eggs i found life on day 5.

  • Ive also got my self 12 quail eggs lol

  • @sonnysingh03 Good for you!! What kind? I'm planning on getting Button or Coturnix quails eggs in the summer.

  • Hey again I've just finished candling my 1st batch of 6 eggs at 7 days I can see in most them a pea like dot and in some of them its moving up and down lol, is this the chick or its eye because that's all i can see aswell as a few veins. i also have another batch at 4 days and can see a yolk like shape on the one side some of them have veins and some dont.

  • @sonnysingh03 the dot you see is the eye and on the 7th day i saw that too. on the 4 day old ones, i could start seeing veins in a few but the ones you dont see veins in wait a few more days. on day 7 and you cant see anything, they might not be fertile. hope you hatch well!! oh, and i have 13 duck eggs in a new incubator now. i will post videos about them.

  • @URAbunnylover2 Nice! ive candled today and about 4 of them show very nice air pockets.

  • Hey I am at day 1 with 12 eggs lol, will a powerful flash light give me the same results don't need to see clearer than this I suppose.

  • @sonnysingh03 These were candled with a somewhat powerful flashlight. The flashlight I used wasn't a LED. The one I used is kind of old. So if you have a new flashlight, you might see better than I did. this egg was white. Brown ones are harder to see through. Don't try candling yet, maybe in another 3-4 days.

  • thanks so much!

  • hey brother i just started incubating my first batch of eggs, what day do you think would be good to candle them ? also how long can you have an egg out is there a certen amount of time? should you take them all out to do this or one at a time?

  • @muggmanley It's best to candle them on day 9-10. Only candle one at a time. You don't want them to cool down too much or else they will hatch late. only have each one out to candle for about 30 seconds. No more then 1 minute. Don't candle too often though. I candled mine once every 2 days to look for development or if I had to remove one.

  • Hi have been watching your video, and I currently have eggs incubating. They are at around about 5 days, and when i turn the egg a dark blob moves too...Should this happen??

  • @Lathemy The bark blob is the yolk and yes it moves if you turn it. You should also see small veins within it.

  • @Lathemy Yes, its to keep the chicken on top of its food

  • I've been trying to incubate my chicken eggs and have had zero luck with three batches. I have had my roosters penned up with one hen at a time and collected eggs. I have candled them and seen just a dark blob, which I am assuming is the yolk. the eggs are white, light blue and an off darker white. any advice?

  • @wrsdriver if the eggs aren't fertile, you will see that shadow in the center which is yolk. it also depends what day you are candling on. you might want to wait until day 10 to candle them. if you are and they still arent developing, it might be your incubator. you may be incubating them wrong. the incubator must be 99.5 F (37.5 C) with humidity levels of 50%-65%. what incubator are you using? you have a rooster so they should be fertile. ther must be something wrong if 3 batches were unlucky.

  • i have 3 eggs witch are almost 4 days old and i candeled them and i saw like part of the egg is darker than the other what does this mean??

  • @markoilic123 ummmm... does it look like a large circle in the middle?? because thats just the shadow of the yolk. or is it different??? it depend do you have brown or white eggs because its easier to candle white ones. i think i know what you mean im not sure but its probably just yolk.

  • thanks for ur help but i just found out they were infertile :(

  • chicks dont have feathers..

  • lol yeah i meant to say down. XD yeah he had black DOWN not feathers lol mistake
