  • Very informative video, thanks!

Was thinking of actually getting those sinks for my VRM's also.

    Q:

    1. What software did you use for load test ? Furmark ?

    2. Have you tried overclocking / overvolting the card ?

    3. Did your VRM ever reach under any circumstance > 70°C

    4. Is the thermal tape permanent ?

My main concern was that they were too small to do anything but your temps seem very good under load. My other choice was the aluminum heatsinks from Arctic Cooling

  • @steinmil

    1. Heaven DX11 Benchmark 2.5. I don't use Furmark (aka GPU killer)

    2. Haven't tried OC, because the purpose of my build is silent setup.

    3. Afaik mine never reached above 50°C

    4. No.

For heat transfer, Copper > Aluminium

(FYI, the original ram heatsink that come with HR-03GT is made of aluminium)

  • How does the increased temperature in Vreg affect the card? What's the max temp for it?

My HD 6850 is reaching 90 degrees w/ stock cooler so im thinking of getting a aftermarket cooler, but I got shit airflow (like almost no airflow). Is this cooler gonna be best for me?

  • @LRoyz Stock cooler can handle the temperature just fine, but it's very noisy. Around 80 degrees is normal. HR-03 GT is an old model, I'm sure there's better cooler out there (e.g. Shaman). If you're going for Thermalright heatsink, it is recommended for you to buy the heatsink for the VRM separately.

  • not bad at all :)

  • Looking at the HR03-GT, does it appear to you that there is room to install the VRM R5 onto the 6970 or 6950?

  • @kewlbreze77 According to ThermalRight, VRM R5 is incompatible with HD6900 series

  • omg sold me on the Enzotech MOS-C heat sinks, Im planing on puting them on my choke's and other mobo chips, maybe one day ill mess with my xfx6870 twin fan but it runs cool, Ill post a video in about three weeks of my mobo with the copper heat sinks installed.
