  • this could also be a problem with the alternator bearing....the alternator may have to be replaceed

  • it's very easy to replace this belt, you should do it yourself, it cost 160 for a shop or dealer to do. It's only 30 bucks if you do it yourself. It took me 30 minutes to replace mine.

  • buy a serpentine belt from Autozone preferably the GatorBack belt.. quick install you could do it yourself, and this would get rid of this noise. + only 30 bucks

  • hah! Thanks for posting this.

I have a Celica also and it makes the exact same noise. The toyota repairer has recommended replacing the serpentine belt to address the issue.

  • ou..i think i blew my speakers watchin that

  • hahah lol that noice is anoying

  • So is your spelling.

  • It's quite common for the tension pulley to be the problem, they order quite a few at Toyota garages.

They probably wont tell you that over the phone though.

  • Did the replaced belt fix your problem? My 2002 has the same exact serpentine belt problem. Is this covered under warranty?

  • is toyota carina simlar?thankyou

  • Did the belt cure it? I have the same problem but suspect a pulley

  • Hey did you hear anything more? I have the same problem too. Although the funny part is my belt just broke tonight so ill have to put a new one in tomorrow, i should know by then if its better, but im thinking pulley too.
