The grid network in England is designed to cope with extreme power surges, though various surge protectors, which require no electronics or machinery to operate. The worst scenario with the power grid, is a blackout, this may last for seconds or hours. Anyway which way it will be more of an inconvenience than a disaster

I'm an Engineer for the electrical distribution industry, and what you have quoted that power lines will be destroyed is utter nonsense. The grid network in England is designed to cope with extreme power surges, though various surge protectors, which require no electronics or machinery to operate. The worst scenario with the power grid, is a blackout, this may last for seconds or hours. Anyway which way it will be more of an inconvenience than a disaster

And the X9 you are referring to actually happened in December of 2006 and didn't directly hit Earth only the Ulysses Spacecraft and the GPS interference that resulted from that flare (One of three progressively weaker flares) wasn't actually reported on until April of 2007. we're all very vulnerable to electric outages, doesn't have to be EMP, could be just a big storm, power plant failure, transformer failure, etc. any power is better than none, generators, solar, wind, hydro, whatever. can power small tools, LED lights, etc. use inverters with DC car batteries. with 12 batteries you can power a house if you have wind/solar/hydro recharging going on. underground shelter is a good alternative, at least for temporary living just in case.

dude first of all, everything in this video is true, but what is not true is the fact that we all have to find shelter and all the junk like that, they can just turn the power grids down for a day and when the storm has past they turn them back on and we're back to normal all right, and phone companies have already build new satellite's to launch when a powerfull storm hits us

hahaha all electrical devices are built to withstand many and all EMP/EMI. It would take the sun exploding or pretty darn close to it to disrupt the power grid and cellphones. GPS is out of luck because the satelites get full exposure so I agree satelites will have issues. To top it off, the human race is powerful. With all the people working together we would have power back to major cities in a week, suburbs in 2 and entire counties and regions in a month. Everything will be fine.
