  • How come gravity on moonbase is the sames as Earth's?

  • This was one of my favorite theme music, but I think Search and Dan August theme music is much better.

  • wait, when the printer is describing SID, does it spell the plural of UFO wrong?

  • I could be wrong, but I think that UFO was possibly set in 1980. Not sure what gave me that idea though. :-)

  • @MontytheHorse Might it have something to do with the fact that "1980" flashes during the sequence? :)

  • @paddyosee You could be right. :-D

  • FUTURISTIC!

  • I loved that programme!

  • Even after all these years, when I hear this, it puts a smile on my face. And it just hit me..I know what some of these shows for this fall is missing..like Pan Am..THIS!!! The music, sexy women in purple wigs with big, you know whats and men in fishnet shirts looking all hot and sexy! How cool was this for kids?!?!!

  • Best kids show in the history of kids tv without question, but the aliens did seem to make a lot of ludicrous mistakes, to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

The budget for the show only stretched to two alien costumes, not a lot of people know that

  • This is exactly how I remember 1980... course I was taking a lot of mescaline at the time...

  • I wouldn't say this was the best theme ever. That would go to "Journey To The Unknown", "The Invaders" or "The Avengers". Just IMHO.

  • Time Gerry Anderson was knighted for his services to children's TV!

  • 1980 was in fact very shit unfortunately.

    Still, great show.

  • Gotta ♥ those interceptors ! This show was so groovy.....

  • Well, that's one catchy tune! In fact, I'm watching the series right now... :)

It sounds much more invigorating that, say, the Star Trek tune. (Don't get me wrong, i love Star Trek...^^)

  • HA! This is the Hollywood Babble-On theme

  • Loved this as a kid, why didnt they make a sequel to this series?

  • @TheSoulboy62 Believe it or not, the Sequel series to this was SPACE:1999, originally it was called UFO:1999 in pre-production.

  • Fell in love with Ayshea... and still am! Loved the music too! Thanks for posting.

  • Gabrielle Drake was mesmerizing to look at.

  • I think the only theme that beats this is the 3rd season of Lost In Space (LOL)

  • Cool! I can't wait until it's 1980 so I can fly around in space with purple hair space bimbo bombshells. :P

  • thunder UFO's are GO!!!

  • Don't make the series sound too sexist, the Moonbase commander was usually female.

  • one big load to shoot off... ooh those purple haired girls... that was never explained was it? it was just like, hey - gratuitously purple hair, the minute the bitches are on the moon... wonderful i think we should organize a UFO theme party... hwuhwuhwu...

  • wow the aliens hair is purple, next time i see someone with purple hair im gonna shout, ALIEN!!!

  • Love it. Great show, Great theme tune, Even better costumes and purple wigs.

Total classic man. Want it on my phone for my ring tone !!!!!!!!!

  • @StinkingHobo - You know who I'd love to see make this into a movie...? Trey and Matt.

  • DAT ASS

  • i want to join shadow to protect the earth from invading ufos and be near the silver skirt purple haired hotties

  • @Kelticviking Send your resume. We aren't hiring at the moment.

  • @Kelticviking ok but when i do get on do not pair me with colonel foster he is a whiny wimp

  • One of my favorite intro themes. I wish the show had lasted longer.

  • I´m up for a UFO-themed disco in Madrid....any takers? Bring your own purple wig!

  • That was so terrible that it did the complete 360 and became awesome again XD

  • Must buy a sexy purple bob wig now!

  • Love it!!!!!

  • That brunnette babe is the biz. think her name is Anisha?

  • @urlordmuman Hi her name is Ayshea and she use to have her own show in the late sixties and early seventies called Lift Off with Ayshea in which she played the pop music of the day and yes she was very tasty.

  • real cool tv show to watch

  • What a fantastic tune...always tried and failed to play the organ riff...wow ! Thanks for uploading :¬)

  • I love the typewriter sequence with S.I.D. "maintaining scan for UFO's" (in the possessive form) rather than "maintaining scan for UFOs" (plural). I know, pick, pick, pick . . . be seeing you.

  • Always loved this show, one of my favorites.

  • would'nt you just loove to have that as your car...what car do you have...oh ive got a shadow mobile...wow thats cool...you should see my freind she has a purple wig and lives on the moon...

  • According to Stephen Hawking, aliens probably exist, but we shouldn't talk to them. Ed and the boys could have told you that 30 years ago.

  • @rook1966 well they cannot be that bad after all capt kirk slept with every green faced space princess in the galaxy must be friendly somewhere

  • @Kelticviking true, but keep in mind a couple of those greenie chicks still tried to kill Kirk after he slept with them :-)

  • @rook1966 ture guess psycho chicks come from all planets

  • @rook1966 It was Captain Archer who slept with the Greenies. Kirk was a member of the Blond of the Month Club.

  • the chicks were sexy :D

  • Purple hair and short skirts are an essential factor in any lunar operations..

  • According to the novelisations, the purple wigs were "anti-static". Apparently that's important, but only on the moon, and only for women.

  • @dadoctah YOU ARE ALL WRONG....The design of the Purple Wigs was done by Sylvia Anderson and SHE says on the DVD Release of UFO...it was just a fashion statement at the time. NOTHING ELSE....PERIOD...Move on...People.

  • @dadoctah Well *duh*. Also, lunar underwear was a static threat for women as well. Gosh, I love the moon.

  • @unifiedreality ... and don't forget the string vests. Why was it only the men who wore them?

  • @38dragoon38 and string vests where the only prediction they got spot on :)

  • I always thought Ayshea had the perfect ass mmmm

  • @unifiedreality I bet NASA would have more funding if they had all-women crews and purple wigs/short skirts.

  • @Lukergamer I think I'd volunteer my own money for such a lovely cause...

  • WAS THAT A FISHNET SHIRT ON THAT GUY?

  • & on a girl.. lol, i caught that too!

  • @petshopboy1 We've all tried it, don't pretend you haven't!

  • Wow I remember this show. Yeah 1980 was pretty far out back then!

  • Except by 1980 they were making shows with theme songs that no one will bother posting anywhere. Best TV Title Theme Award ever? Well, I don't know... Hawaii Five-0, Kimba The White Lion(US Version),... uh someone help me out with others...

  • medical center, the jeffersons, swat, police woman, angie, wonder woman, laverne & shirley.. i could go on forever.

  • 1980, eh?

  • I watched it in the 70s , I liked the theme but now when I listen to it , dont you think it reminds a lot of the Hawaii- o-five theme. And I like the hawaii theme much more!

  • hawaii-five-o meets space 1999

  • probably done by the same person?..

  • @franklinfuentes it should be easy to find out . to see the official facts about both series and on the music themes.

  • okay, barry gray did the ufo theme while morton stevens did the hawaii 5-o theme. please, no replies to correct me.. i got this info. on-line..

  • Hawaii 5-O by "the Ventures"

    don't know about this theme.

but the best rendition of this song would be "the Big-O" 2nd season opening version.

  • I feel I ought to point out the fatal design flaw of the Interceptors - just 1 missile! Fantastic theme tune though.

  • The American theme song for Kimba the White Lion is pretty good, too.

  • i am playing this song for school and i hav a marimba solo!!!!!

  • Nice choice! :)

  • Series 1-A question of priorities i think its from tutt99

  • I watch this all the time on itv4

  • I really liked the girls on the sub who wore the fishnet shirts

and no bras. That caught my 7 year old eye....

  • This theme is even better than the Joe90 Theme.. and thats saying something. Gerry Anderson, tenacious genius.

  • memory lane - that was good

  • Bonus points if you can guess the episode from the split second of footage after the ending...

  • jerry anderson is a brilliant man ive watched his scifi shows since i was a kid in the states i used to watch this as a kid loved this show and the theme

  • This theme tune is the best ever, I agree with you there, dadoctah.

  • BIG O! SHOWTIME!

  • edd bishop rocked

  • uber cool, when first shown on british t.v. 'right-on',dudes killing aliens without asking any questions!!

  • had a crush on the white hair guy lol - i was 7 or 8 at the time - wow had many crushes lol - but i have never forgotten the theme song

  • I was at a jumble sale with my Mum in, I guess, around 1979-81 and picked up a UFO Annual (can't have been many I'm sure!). I loved it, but being the days before the internet and cable/digital tv, I never got to see it. Now I have, it looked a fantastic progression from Anderson's puppet things, and I'm surprised it didn't last longer. Anyone know why it only seemed to last a short while?

  • Brilliant! My first must-watch TV!

  • Nice butts and tape drives.

    That's what it's all about, man! :-p

A little catchy theme from Barry Gray.

  • Best Theme since Hawaii 5-0

  • Catchy theme ! .

Cheers , Jason [ Doctor Who One ]

  • The scene with the pilots stepping into the slide portal was one of very first things on TV I remember seeing. Amazing how the things you see as a toddler stick with you. For the longest time I thought I imagined it! Thanks for the proof that this was a real show!

  • An amazing series...... stylish, cool, and sassy.

  • This was an excellent series.

  • One of Gerry Anderson's classics! The first series that didn't use 'Supermarionation', but live actors-at times serious story lines-and to me, SkyDiver was the one vessel to be captian of...well, that or being on Moonbase... :)

    Thanks!

  • Not sure why it's jumpy. Came off the disc that way.

  • Why is this jumpy?

  • what a great series this was from ATV/ ITC. i used to watch this on ATV at 11pm on wednesday nights during the 70's. i alawys remeber the episode where the UFO had crash landed into a lake . excellent series. thanks
