  • stooopid- sound comparison, seriously!?

  • This is very sad. Don't you people have anything better to do than comparing shutter sounds? Don't be fools of the advertising machine. The joy is not on stuff.

  • @walterig33 Why are you here ?

  • The 5D Mk2 sounds like a film camera, first mirror, then something that pulls the film... I do like Canon and have one myself, but I really think Nikon has the most appealing shutter sound :)

  • Nice video

The shutter in the 5d is based upon the same unit in the 20d (but of course slower) whilst the shutter in the 5d Mk2 is based upon the unit in the 40d (but of course slower still) - I owe both the 20d and the 40d. The 40d shutter action is MUCH nicer and thus the 5d MK2 is as well... confusion over. I used a 5d MK2 a few days ago and boy did it feel slow. Nice camera, want one but will use others for anything sports related.

  • shutter sound of 5D is awful~~~

  • question I am new to the camera industry I have a canon eos rebel t1i and it's cool but now I also have a canon 5d cool too but didn't get the manual with it and curious to know before I jump the gun saying the camera is broken. I can't take a photo like on my T1i by just looking through the display screen. With the Canon 5d must you always look through the view finder to snap a photo? Thanks all.

  • @chillwill1970 That's a new function that canon put on their cameras long after the 5d was made. The t1i and 5d mark ii (and some others) have the live view. your camera is fine.

  • As someone mentioned it's important to have the same lens on. My 5D sounds completely different with the 70-200 2.8 than it does with the 50 1.4 or the 17-40 4. The 5D Mk ii is faster though.

  • The 5D seams to be a really bad camera, is it slower then the 5D

  • Great vid.

I know this is not going to make a whole lot of a difference but they should test this with same lenses.

I believe the one on the 5D is a 50 1.4 and MK II 24-105.

  • This is a great Forum for DSLR's

  • Yeah it seems like the mark II is quieter, but the sound of the 5D is still pretty cool.

  • actually my concern about the shutter sound was whether canon made the 5d mark ii quieter for use in say..... classical concerts.

  • SLR's not built for quietness.

But for SLR, I believe A700 and A900 have the quietest mirror flick.

  • I'm thinking who really cares except people with too much time on there hands? they both take fantatic pictures, I seriously doubt as one person said that the eos 5D sounds like its old and about to break.

  • Well obviously, 5d m2 shutter speed is 3.9 frames per sec. while the old 5d was 3 frames per sec.

  • I like 5D II sound more because it's higher pitch than 5D,and the shutter is faster.

  • I like the sound of 5d m2 its much quiet than the original 5d it feels more solid it gives me more confidence to use it not thinking when will the shutter going to break, it doesn't sound old.

  • nice sound

  • left side should be 5d mark II

    right side should be 5d.
