  • Is this a joke, you can not compare Kirby with other vacuums, there is no comparation,Kirby is the only one!!!Trust me,i have worked with many vacuums, like dyson or rainbow....but they are away from Kirby, especially from Kirby Sentria:)))

  • kirby does way much more stuff than dyson kirby can even make a blower along with 100s of crazy pieces and addons its incomparable

  • why dont you vacuum the whole area and then uses the plastic dyson dumbshit there is no comparison between a kirby and a dyson

  • This is obviously a ridiculous and unfair test. #1 you didn't show us what the Kirby sucked up. #2 you went forward further with the dyson. #3 that is an insane amount of dirt! It's not going to be picked up in one swipe regardless what vacuum you use. I know a lot about vacuums and I've seen and used every vacuum there is, nothing is better than the Kirby. Point, blank, period.

  • im a kirby seller 100% of the time i kill a dyson wich we call a "vac kill" basically we put them to the test and the owner of the dyson ends up loving the kirby and we always specially in appartments we end up kicking it and trowing it away in the dumpster or just easily trow it outside the door and close the home door but the owner of the dyson is the one that always tells me the dyson is a piece of crap nothing but a rug munching mechine and alway end up selling to a dyson or bissell owner

  • The dyson is made of plastic. and cant seal to the carpet. The kirby is die cast alluminum, American made, has a 20 plus year lifespan , literally lifts the carpet off the floor its effortless to push not to mention it has more features than any other home cleaning system in the world. upright vac, canister vac, hand portable vac, sander, massager, air pump , hand portable shampooer, upright shampooer, carpet fluffer, and hard wood floor care kit for buffing and waxing. nothin can touch it all.

  • I also am a Kirby dealer and I have killed every vacuum on the market today! Dyson, Rainbow, Hoover...you name it. People get so upset because they paid for junk! You might as well buy a $50 hoover

  • I thought this was a video of Kirby, the small pink monster-eating vacuum.

  • Sentria Kirby is the best model. Mad out of the same stuff airplanes are made of and pretty much indestructible. It really picks up 99.9 percent of dust, dead skin, dust mites, and dirt out of your carpet.

  • HA! YOU HAVE THE OLD KIRBY AND YET ITS STILL SUCKS I DO ADMIT THO AND WILL LET THEM KNOW THEY NEED FIERCE BRISSLES

  • It's not how much it can suck but how much it can keep from the carpet to the garbage disposal. If you have bed bugs or suspect them then disposable bags are your best friend. The begs keep the bugs and thier eggs intombed untill you replace the beg after each sesson. The old beg gets rolled up from the intake and placed in a large ziplock beg to be tossed into the garbage. The exterminator will tell you to get a good begged vacuum and toss the begless.

  • When i was a kirby saleman, i would ask the person, "If i can prove to you that your machine does not clean well would you agree that you need one that does do the job?" Then we'd ask the person to vacumm a small area 100 times back and forth to make up a years worth of cleaning on one area - until he thought it was clean. Then i'd pass the kirby once and STILL pull up dirt that their machine left behind. I saw the KIrby win against every other machine in the comparison tests. Tough job, though.

  • @robbiedaug KIRBY ROCKS!! I have a Heritage 2 from 1990. They are a little heavy to use, and the beater bar on the power head will make the neighbors downstairs think that you are sanding your floors BUT what a machine. Now, THAT's a carpet cleaner. If you want your carpets CLEAN right down to the floor, you get a Kirby.

We use to vacumm the peoples' beds and pull up skin mites and dead skin. After seeing that, i bought a queen size air mattress to sleep on. Once i did that, no more allergies.

  • I like how you DON'T vacuum the same spots. I can plainly see you moving the dyson over slightly to pick up fresh dirt.

  • this is a ridiculous "demo" video. i work as a kirby dealer, and we LOVE seeing Dysons (especially the new "Ball" model) because it's a $700 vacuum and it sucks ball(s) compared to a kirby. we take dirt we put on a person's carpet, vacuum it with the dyson until prospect says it appears to have gotten all the dirt, then we make literally 100+ more passes over the spot with the Dyson, then we use the kirby and the results are the same every time. the kirby picks it all up, and dyson failed.

  • You did go over a dirty spot with the Dyson, I'm not going to lie. Yeah, Kirby has whatever sales tactics and news cuts that are negative and high prices, but their actual vacuums are the real deal.

  • Wow you should stop talking, when you used the dyson you went over spot the the kirby didnt hit. Dysons are plan shit.

  • :( Dysons work well you jerks, besides no replacements

  • Guys just buy Rainbow e2 end forget abutu other socks machine rainbow expencive but much much bater then alllll and alll !!!

  • Well, in that case, if your carpet is already ruined, then it won't matter, I suppose; but if you have new or newer carpets, NEVER buy a vacuum cleaner with a beater bar. There's a very good reason why even junky-ass Hoover has finally eliminated it from their machines as well: they eventually destroy carpet fibers.

  • My uncle owns BOTH Kirby and Dyson. Hi Kirby broke and needed repair. While being repaired, his wife bought a Dyson. When the Kirby arrived fixed, they did the test. My uncle happened to have that "glass case" used by sales people for demos. He could NOT BELIEVE how much more the Kirby picked up over the Dyson... quite the opposite from this video...

  • You know, every vacuum leaves dirt behind. If you passed over that same spot with the kirby again, it would pick up dirt after the Dyson. I think Dyson is good, but i like Kirby better. By the way, my Eureka 1424 B could outclean both of those. It has a beater bar.

  • @FanOfVacuums2 But beware, those "beater bars", especially if they're plastic, will get cut and then they'll tear the carpet fibers. i know, because I used to have one. Also, "beater bars" eventually flatten the nap, too.

  • @Jrepairguy21 My beater bar is metal and my carpet is old and already flattened.

  • I think that Idaho duechebag would be alot more fitting than idahohillbilly. most of the points you make in your video, make you sound like you should be in a competition, I have a tough one in mind that you might do well in. It's called the special olympics, you f* n retard

  • i am not happy with dysons at all i am from the UK where they were first made andthey leave dirt behind the dirt when you empty it in the trash bin flys in your face the kirby bag you simply throw away.my old kirby Tradition 1980 model cleaned up over a carpet the dyson had left 4 years of muck the first dyson died after 4 years the second one did the same the kirby is now 31 years old and still going strong all you do with a kirby is buy a used one and have it serviced when required .

  • There is NO Dyson of any make or model that can compare with even a TWENTY YEAR OLD KIRBY.. Dyson is an example of successful television marketing. In my years of selling the Kirby I have not found even ONE Dyson or any other vacuum of any make that can even touch the suction of the Kirby. It's not even close.

  • @skoalmen143 RIGHT ON! I'll put my mother's old Kirby Dual Sanitronic 80 up against a Dyson any day and it will still out-clean the Dyson, as will my Kirby G-5. And that lifetime rebuild warranty is priceless! An excellent product.

  • omg you didnt even go over the same spot LOL waht joke

  • Nilfisk is better then both haha.. i've got a Nilfisk X150 Vacuum. I love it soo much

  • @GayBoyRunning Wow, I'm gay, too........must be something among vacuum cleaner guys. Anyway, I've owned every vacuum cleaner out there, and I can tell you that the Air-Way Sanitizors ( the vacuum cleaner that Electrolux copied) were the absolute best, followed by Kirby. Unfortunately, Air-Way (who also invented and patented the first disposable dust bag) went out of business a few years back after over 85 years in the business. Anyway, I had a Nilfisk and I really wasn't all that impressed.

  • @Jrepairguy21 Tho which Nilfisk?

  • @GayBoyRunning You know, it's been so long ago I really don't remember which model it was; I know it was their most expensive model, a canister. But my point is that when I saw what the Air-Way picked up, in addition to its HEPA filtration, activated carbon filter and antimicrobial after-filter to control mold, viruses and bacteria in the airstream, I was convinced. Air-Way went out of business primarily because most Americans don't really care about deep clean anymore, only surface clean.

  • @Jrepairguy21 I think i know some really good deep clean vacuum & i do believe i think one or two i may know are Australian made..

Oh & the only Asutralian Made & Owned Vacuums cleaners are: Star Vac, Wertheim, AstroVac & KERRICK.

My fav is Wertheim & AstroVac.

For deep cleanning i believe it would be the Wertheim.

  • that kirby seems to be used alot of times, it does not seemd new. now how do we know the bag is emty? because the bag works better whwn is a new bag. you also need to put a new band on the kirby. ur not suposed to have the kirby all the way down. ur vaccuming with the dyson the sides which u didnt vaccum with the kirby. and besides ur carpet is so old it probaby has alot of dirt underneath, and it didnt get ther in a day week or a month right, so you r goin to need to vaccum a couple of times

  • that kirby seems to be used alot of times, it does not seemd new. now how do we know the bag is emty? because the bag works better whwn is a new bag. you also need to put a new band on the kirby. ur not suposed to have the kirby all the way down. ur vaccuming with the dyson the sides which u didnt vaccum with the kirby. and besides ur carpet is so old it probaby has alot of dirt underneath, and it didnt get ther in a day week or a month right, so you r goin to need to vaccum alot

  • This was not a test. To do a test, you do it on white carpet, side by side and see what each pulls from the carpet. The Kirby will ALWAYS kick a Dyson's ass unless the Kirby is broke or needs a new belt/roller. Don'r waste your money or a Dyson or on a new Kirby. But a used Kirby from 10 years ago and it will pwn a Dyson that's brand new.

  • straight up.. i've done tones of dyson vs. kirby matches using almost every dyson currently out on the market and the Kirby always fucks the shit out of Dysons!!

I seent it with my face bitch! positive!

  • My oh my! Did I send these dysons to the trash everytime I forced myself into a house lol! That was a nice 9 month period until good old snow slowed me down! I'll NEVER pay for a dyson. All you need to do to that old kirby to out do that dyson is put a new belt n change the settings on the brush rolls or get brush roll! It will work like new!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • You have to have the Kirby set on the right Height Level so the Beater bar work's correctly, if I remember right. Get a Dirt meter from Kirby and reverse this test. :) Then we'll see Muhahahaa LOL!

  • I thought the same thing

  • Is this a joke?? you ran the dyson 2" into the off of the path that the kirby made it's pass (we need a fair remach)

  • What has my life come to? Watching a dyson vs kirby video. Actually the fourth vacuum video I've watched in past half hour!!! WTF

  • Very bad test environment! I own a Kirby and Dysons have been known to tear up your carpet over time. You even show in your test how tuff the Dyson brushes are and how soft the Kirby brushes are. Kirby does not rely on tough brushes to clean your carpet. Those hard brushes rip up your carpet. I will take a Kirby over Dyson any day of the week!

  • i think the dyson brissels are too hard.they literally burn your carpet.

probably the dyson is better if you live in a house with a 20 years old carpet

i still rate the kirby as the better toll for my household

  • The Kirby is not just a vacuum. Ask yourself how much would it cost to buy a vacuum and a shampooer. The DC17 will run you around $449 dollars, you can probably get it as low as $250 - 300. The Kirby Sentria can be bought as low as $700 to $800 if your smart and that's the newest model. Older Kirby's like the one in this video (G7) can be purchased for as low as $400 - $500. So, ask yourself which one is the better bargain?

  • cheap things aren't good... and good things aren't cheap.

  • You are obviously bias towards the Dyson.

  • if you buy a kirby you have proven to be a sucker and a idiot.

  • @lp000028 Wow, you obvioulsy had a Kirby and totally abused it and destroyed it like a friend of mine did (who also says the kind of snarky things about Kirby that you do) or you just don't know what you're talking about in general. I actually have 2 Kirbys, an old Tradition from 1980 and a G-5, both of which are still going strong with no problems, ever. But, then again, I take care of my things, and my machines still look and run like new. And Kirby warranties are second to NONE.

  • KIRBY OWNS END OF STORY!!!

  • the new kirby sentria out powers the shit out of the two dyson we proved the dyson has no sucking power or the useful things you can do with the kirby not mentioning it blows too and shampoo your carpet with it.

  • A Hoover canister vac and a Dyson did separate halves of my plush living room, split for relatively even amounts of wear and dog hair. The Hoover cleaned the surface dirt faster, and that half pile was lifted better and appeared much more vibrant, much cleaner/ better look to Dyson half. Prior to test: Hoover's bag was half full, both agitators were in great shape, Dyson's dirt cup and filter were clean. Hoover PowerMax S3603-040 purchased Sept. 1997. Dyson DC07 Animal 1 year old

  • Dyson agitator bristles feel like concrete strips, very sparse and barely if at all extend beyond the base plate, that's why they clean so terribly. Your joke of a 1 pass, single width cleaning where you're Dyson extended way out of the Kirby's track is a disgrace. To test you need a weighed amount of dirt and see which machine picked up more on a "clean" sample space.

  • lol wow you must not have that kirby set up right cause ive done that test and the kirby always wins the dysoon always sucks

  • @bloodrayne400 the dysoon always sucks. Well isn't that what a vacuum supposed to do? j/k agree with you completely.

  • This guy is an idiot. You'll never get every single speck of grit out of a carpet, especially in only 2 passes. Take the Dyson and vacuum a section of carpet 20 strokes then use the Kirby with the demo "dirty meter". I guarantee you will find SAND. The other thing to consider is the the height adjustment of the Kirby. By virtue of "vertical air-flow" and massive air volume, the Kirby is designed to slightly lift the carpet from the padding combined with the vibration created by the brush....

  • yea i used to sell kirby's and was good at it but do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy one. they teach you the most fucked up ways to get people to buy them its not cool at all. plus there 2000 dollars anyways so unless ur house is filled with carpet just tell the kirby salesman to fuck off when he knocks on your door.

  • I will only buy used Kirby's and never through a brick and mortar store.

Speaking of Kirby sale's man I had one show up & my door last month. Driving a hummer H2 it was new of the lot still had temp tag in window. Boy he really wanted to sell me a Kirby really bad.:) Got to make those hummer payments. So friendly it was vary creepy. Like ax murder creepy. You would have thought I lived in the The Tasma Hall the way he had to comment on how nice every thing was.

  • It really took the wind from his sales when I told him that I repair my own machines.

  • @nrgbro True but people should know what type of stuff is hiding in there mattress, under the stove, ect.

  • @nrgbro what do you mean "most fucked up ways to sell a kirby"?

  • @nrgbro faggot bitch broke bad credit fuker. Guaranteed your broke

  • How old is that Kirby ?

All I know is that the Dyson CAN NOT pick up more than the new Kirby's, I had a sales man over my house 2 days ago to demonstrate the New Kirby's.

Let me put it this way.

I had my Dyson for 1 year, the last time I used carpet freshener was 2 years ago.

The Kirby guy had me vacuum a 2 foot by 4 foot section 50 times with my Dyson, I already had vacuumed so not much came up, he went over the same spot 4 times with the Kirby and picked up 10 onces of carpet freshener !!!!!!!

  • @socialmediallc Its a 2005 Diamond edition.

I agree with you on any other carpet in the house the Kirby cleans better. The carpet in this room is really old & matted I think the only reason the Dyson does better is the it rakes the shit out of the carpet with its brush roll. I do not use the Dyson on my other carpets because it was starting to tear up fibers.

  • @socialmediallc I agree with you, i mean no other vacuume can do a better job than a kirby, especially the new onces.

  • @socialmediallc its the kirby ultimate g diamond series its from 2005-2006 (i used to be a kirby salesperson) only thing that makes kirby better is it being metal and no hoses or plastic connectors that move the dirt through the vacuum to the canister/bag KIRBY PWNS ALL!!!

  • @socialmediallc

I agree with you cause im a kirby slae person the new kirbys are way better and there not that bad

  • @socialmediallc

I totally agre with u that new ones are better cause im a salepeson and I think they are way better

  • @socialmediallc do you know the sale guy's Kirby is rigged, they have a little a little catch in the bag that they just knock and opens a second small bag that has dirt in, usually carpet fresher mixed with dirt

  • @markcumbriauk are you an idiot there is no dirt hidden in there

  • @socialmediallc Yeah, Kirby will always out-clean a plastic Dyson. I won't own anything but a Kirby

  • KIRBY IS #1

  • lol you are out of your mind if you think a dyson is better than a kirby JUST CRAZY! lol it is like comparing a VW to a BMW

  • Kirby's are for suckers!

  • I love killing dysons! Lol, then trading them in. Kirbyz the best hands dwn! U keep ur piece of plastic, an exersise rather than clean. Tip, save some power dnt plug ur dysons in makes no diff. Lol

  • the Kirby will be going strong, long after the Dyson is in the dumpster!

  • I have a sneaking suspicion that that will be the case:)

  • @Ulai777 I strongly agree my grandma has a kirby from 1950 and it still works like new!

  • @Ulai777 For real! They are serious machines....dyson is just more reachable price wise and meant for the average joe. I LOVE my kirby....it sucked up half a bag right after i vaccumed with my other bagless....my carpet looks amazing!

  • just a bunch of excuses as to why the Dyson kicks the Kirby's arse...

  • ok, this test it totally wrong, in my training class, he marked a square small area with the two handles.....went over the square with the dyson about 50 times, then went over the SAME area 5 times with the kirby and clean filters, the result was allot of leftover dust, this test is dumb

  • There is only one advantage a canister has over a bagged vacuum and that is the ability to see when the soil has stopped entering the vacuum. However, the filtration and overall air quality will always be better with the double bag filtration like the kirby. Also the vacuums need to be ran much slower, the air needs to be allowed time to circulate around the fibers to pull soil from the base.

  • so the test is going to favor the Dyson

  • the issue i found is that the dyson ripped the carpet fibers. i dont know about anyone else but i dont want to destroy my carpet with a dyson i rather use a kirby and pro-long the life of my carpet

  • A vacuum only picks up on the forward motion, not on the back stroke. If you don't believe me, run one outside over a dirty car mat minus the bag, or canister. you will see dust pouring out on the forward stroke only. Also, that kirby in not a new model, and there's certainly a worn roller brush. I have a cleaning company we only use kirbys and it out performs anything that the clients have.

  • Rubbish, thats because it picks up the majority of dirty on the fwd stroke then the remainder on the backward stroke.

  • @Stockney And if you started your first pull through the carpet backwards instead of forward, it would do the exact same thing! Vacuums are designed to pick up on the back pull. sorry

  • Also I see that you vacuumed a little to much to the side. 1:49 You went over a non-vacuum area for a little. It's not your fault, but because of that the test it is not fare.

  • Here's the thing about testing vacuums on carpet: you can never get all the dirt out!! Try vacuuming with the Dyson and then with the Kirby, and you will see what I mean. I mean I could vacuum all day long with a Hoover Convertible and still get some dirt out with the least powerful Oreck. Or I could I vacuum for hours with a Kirby with it's brush on, and turn it off and STILL get dirt-up. You know what I mean. I must say though that the Kirby is much better than any Dyson sold.

  • This is a standard comparison test. Woohoo, aren't you so talented? Nah dude get real. I make a living selling Kirby Vacuums. We (who are professional) do a few exptensive comparison tests. You must remember that we do test in a home that the owner has used their current cleaner in countless times. On top of that we remove ALL the dirt in a 1 sq foot area before a sand test. Proper cleaning routines must also be taken into consideration. Peace and better luck on your endeavors. Kirby 4 eva xD

  • PS: In regards to your statement about bags"pores" clogging up, the same thing can be said about bagless vacuum fliters. In fact tests prove that the new Kirby filter bags tend to less clog than a bagless fliter. Our product is quality and before you start thinking that these cheap vacs are better than a Kirby, why won't you do some research to see who owns Kirby and owns Scott and Fetzer. . We are built upon quality products. And that's all I gotta say.

  • I agree. Test is not a fair one at all. Also noticed that the Kirby hieght adjustment was adjusted all the way down. That is not the corect height for that carpet. Listning to the sound, the Kirby was adjusted 2 notches to deep not alowing for propper airflow to clean the way it should.

  • this guy likes the Dyson you the test is going to favor the Dyson, not a true comparison

  • I agree with you on the fact the dyson are horde to empty. I have allergies & by the time im done cleaning out the dyson canister im in misery! And here recently the machine has started to leak dust out of one of the seals.

  • Great vacs did extensive testing on both the dyson and the Kirby and the Kirby annihilated the dyson on all tests except for one the coolness factor.

Below I will post some of the tests. This was an extensive set of tests that took over a week to complete.

All the tests were preformed by Greatvacs, Greatvacs is one of the largest online retailers of vacuums and the reslts of the tests can be seen on their website. Please note I have no affiliation with Greatvacs

  • Airflow test using a Baird airflow meter

    Dyson 2.8 of 10

    Kirby 10 of 10

The scale only read to a maximum of 10 so they had to add 10 extra feet of hose to the Kirby to get the reading down 7.8

WOW !!! even with 10 extra feet of hose the Kirby had over 3 times more airflow the the Dyson.....

    Powerhead Suction test

Dyson only managed a mere 1.5 pounds of suction at the powerhead with very uneven suction

The Kirby managed over 12 pounds of dyson obliterating suction!!

  • 3. Winner of Test #3 - Most Power, full of dirt = KIRBY

Full of dirt on the dirt meter the Dyson pulled a 2.8 and the Kirby pulled a 5.9 with a bag full of dirt. The Kirby did loose power full of dirt (pulled a 7 with a empty bag) but was still almost twice as powerful full of dirt. The Dyson pulled a 2.8 empty and a 2.8 full so Dyson was right it did not loose any power as it filled with dirt.

  • 1. Winner of the Test #1 Best Vacuum not to Clog - KIRBY The Kirby vacuum had almost twice the size of suction piping . The Dyson tubing at its smallest point measures right at 1 3/8 inches, the Kirby tubing at its smallest point measured 2 1/4 inches nearly a inch larger.

  • 10. Winner of Test #10 - Suction and Vacuum Seal = KIRBY

The Kirby dominated the Suction test. The Dyson only had 1.5 lbs of pull before the seal was broken and the Kirby had 12 lbs of pull before the seal was broken. Tthe Dyson had great suction on one side of the power nozzle and no suction on the other side while the Kirby had suction all the way across.

  • Dyson's are horribly dirty vacuums I sold mine and went back to the kirby. Everytime I emptyed the dyson I has to wear a face mask as it looked like a dust storm.

This video is very deceptive I have had both the heritage had much more power then the Dyson. the Kirby could such the paint off the wall. the only draw back is they must be adjusted properly witch yours obviously wasn't either that our you fudged the test . I'll take a nice clean bag over a dirty filter and canister any day

  • I think the reason that the dyson out cleans the kirby on that carpeting is because it is really frayed out & has the tendecy to trap dirt. The dyson with it's super aggressive brush roll is able to get the dirt out better than the Kirby with its softer brush roll. I my self prefer the Kirby over the dyson the dyson's brush roll on more than one occasion has torn fibers out of this carpet and other in my home.

The only thing that the dyson has over the Kirby is the on-board attachments.

  • your test is invalid. every vaaccum is going to pick up more after the last, the real test is which one continues to pick up dirt when the other stops. Kirby would stomp the dyson.

  • i am the person you see below called LuKed852 but im useing this acount now so please refer your reply to this acout please! that one was my m8ts!

  • i think your test showed just how good dysons are especially against kirbys they were good in there day but the dyson is the vacuum of the futur! but i disagree that it was all dawn to the tough brushes it will also help that the dyson has superior cyclonic suction thanks to its multipal cyclones! invented by james dyson himself! the fact is you can get close to but you can never quite beat a dyson. they are enginering perfection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @LuKed852 you're an advertisers dream - you'll fall for any NBS ( next best thing) A Dyson will shred your carpet then asphyxiate itself - "Dying" a slow miserable death. ".. SUPERIOR CYCLONIC SUCTION".......lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol

  • @freak4freedom Not sure where you get your info from but I have had my dyson over 5 years and it still works as great as the day I bought it. The problem is with ignorant and lazy consumers who neglect cleaning the filters and run the machine hot. That would destroy any machine. Dont change the oil filter in your car or mantain it and then try to blame the car for dying!

  • I have the dyson dc17, but i have the asthma and allergy. And it clean so well the carpets look newer every time i vacuum them.
