I have utmost respect for this man. He is our hero. But risk is that potong pasir may be absorbed into a GRC in the next election. Then everything that potong pasir and what Mr Chiam represents will be lost forever. For 27 yrs, residents of potong pasir has provided all singaporeans an alternative voice in parliament. Still cannot come to term how potong pasir can be lost to PAP.

2 weeks after suffering from stroke he return to work and carry on the meet the residents of Potong Pasir weekly. He never fully recover from the stroke in 2008 and despite his current condition he still wants to serves to Singaporean.

Mr Chiam upgraded the Potong Pasir facilities without a the help of the government fund. Not even a single cent. He held his weekly meet the people session in a make shift office under the void deck not because he can't afford to build an office but he wanted to save the money for the Potong Pasir account. He top up the Potong Pasir fund with his own MP allowance and setting up kindergarten on his own again without the help of the government.
