He switched to Yamaha because of two reasons. Kawasaki did not want to spend millions on two top 450 racers, Ryan Villipoto and Stewart and sence James injured his knee Kawasaki felt it would be better for them to spend more money on Villipoto. Also in 2007 Kawasaki switched sponsors from Red Bull to Monster, James like The guys at Red Bull, So when he was giving the opertunite to go to L&M Yamaha he would be able to ride for Red Bull agian.
