I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BIKE! Can't WAIT to get 6 grand. I actually prefer this look over the ninja looking 1098. I'm sure 1098 beats the heck out of it at the track, I just don't care.
I own a 2004 749D and It is a thrill to ride! It's not my everyday rider but it still gets a lot of use. I prefer to ride my 2006 Triumph Thruxton 900 for the everyday riding. The clutch is much more suited for stop and go type traffic and not to mention it is also a BLAST to ride in the mountain twisties!! Ride on..
I would say that if you are getting a great deal then go for it! Just be aware that Ducatis generally require more regular maintenance than some other bikes out there.. Valve adjustments are needed more often and if you go to a certified Ducati mechanic you are going to pay for sure.. BUT the Ducati 749 is a beautiful and AMAZING running machine and, to me, worth the extra troubles.. Best of luck!
old school bevel folks know that the correct buzz is DUKE. somewhere along during the evolution of rubberbands it became known as DUCK. in the end, who really cares.
You know whats weird? I've always pronounced it as Duke and heard a LOT of people say it like this. yet in this vid the guy goes "duck"...makes me think about his capability of setting the bike up :D
duc = duck? anyone with 1/4th of a brain knows duc in the ducati name is pronounced as duke (duc = duke)if your gonna properly review a machine at least use it's proper name.
thumb up for 2 cillinders :D

the 848 is easier to handle but the 749 is a fighter and a winner. it simply is a riders machine. the 848 is like anybodies friend.
