  • great playing guys Thanks yer still rockin bros

  • its good to know the bass man was as good as the guitar man r.i.p

  • The reason I accept Zach is because Ringo and Keith were good friends and Keith schooled Zach on the drums when he was a kid. IMO the only drummer who was ever worthy of coming close was Simon Phillips.

  • I think this would be a great Ox song for the current version of The Who to play live, but Roger doesn't want to include any Entwistle songs in the set list. Boo.

  • Roger HAD to sing along. At this point, John's voice wasn't as powerful as it used to be. I think this sounds pretty good!

  • God bless Pete townshend. He is a maniac.

  • Zak sounds more like Moon than his old man.

  • Towsend had fun too

  • Towsend had fun too

  • Love the lyrics...This song rocks, especially the studio version....Crank it........

  • The FUCKIN OX

  • did moe. open this show?? anyways thanx killer foottage

  • JOHN U WILL BE MISSED

    R.I.P.

  • Marty Balin?. He was not a guitarist. And Yes Ringo might not have been the flashiest drummer or not even the best. But he did do things that other drummers were not able to do. And Zak grew up idolizing Keith. Keith was always around the house. He was the one who taught Zak. Zak started out playing guitar taught to him by Uncle George. He did not like GTR. the only advice Ringo ever gave him was just Play. Play as much as you can with whoever you can.

  • The OX!!!!

  • You can't say Townshend is a guitarist...

He might play the guitar in The Who...but he is, by no means, a guitarist.

His soloing is horrendous...that must be why he smashes his guitar.

He was a better guitarist in the mid 60's, when he wouldn't try to play lead guitar, and just played chords & riffs...this attempt at soloing is a strong attempt on his behalf...but it's terrible.

  • if u say that this solo is terrible, i got nothing to say to a fucking bitch like u!!!!!! u don't even play the guitar, so should u even talk?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • You're the only one who said anything about me not playing guitar...

  • even if u play the guitar, u don't even know what ur talking about and i can bet any amount of money that ur not half as good as townshend and if u guys had a guitar battle, he would totally rape ur motherfuckin' ass!!!!!!

  • whatever man, it's ur fucking opinion which is full of shit in the first place and just like that pavement27 guy said ur full of shit, u really are and if u get into a lead guitar solo battle with townshend, i'm pretty sure he would pretty much just rape u!!!!!!

  • What seriously you rank George Harrison better than Pete?

Pete is much better than George, and he DOES know how to play the guitar. Go watch My Wife from Camden 2000 and Drowned from Oakland 1982.

  • It would have been better if Roger would have shut the hell up. He messed up and John should be singing this not Roger! And his "She's coming" get annoying after a while. Just let John sing damnit!!

  • haha i totally agree, the ox is the man behind this song!!!!!!

  • Thank God. I was waiting to get bitched out.

  • You responded positively to my comment. I thought people were going to be pissed about what I said.

  • haha yea i hate it too when roger sings my wife, it's not his song, i'm like come on, u are the who frontman, u already sing most of the band's songs, just cut thunderfingers some slack on the songs that he wrote, give him the damn credit!!!!!!

  • Listen to the original studio recording of My Wife. Roger definately sings along with John. Without Roger it sounds pretty terrible. Sorry John.

  • dude u listen to the original studio recording of my wife, john sings the whole song, i think i know a little more about the who than u do since they are my fav band so sorry pal with roger it sounds terrible without u it doesn't so sorry roger

  • plus u didn't even write the damn song roger so really sorry long-haired 1970's rock god!!!!!!

  • It sounds terrible, because it's quite sloppy.

  • Roger did NOT sing on the studio version; they double-tracked John's voice. John would not have allowed the song to be recorded by The Who unless he got to sing it himself because it was originally supposed to be on his solo album, but Pete wanted it on Who's Next. You're full of shit.

  • Prove it! I'm supposed to just take your word for it. Show me evidence that Roger did not sing vocals along with John on this song on Who's Next. Your word is not good enough for me. How do you know that John wouldn't have recorded only if those conditions existed. Are you his brother? Are you inside his head?

What makes you have special knowledge?

  • @at90percent Roger sung at the end with "SHES COMIN!" But he didn't for the rest of the song, just listen carefully, you can tell he isn't singing man. But we shouldnt concern oursevls and fight over it. Long Live The Who, Long Live The Ox, Long Live Rock,

  • Roger helped sing the song live, but it's John's voice singing "She's coming!" at the end of the studio version. Listen to the vocal inflection when he says "coming." It's clearly John singing.

  • @Bluesub6 Ah, I actually just listened to it again when you said this, you're right. It is Johnny. I had just read a while back that was Roger. Best bassist and a damn good singer. Long Live The Who!

  • @Bluesub6 This is true.

  • probably the best live version of my wife i have ever seen!!!!!! also, probably one of pete's greatest guitar moments!!!!!! such amazing bass lines, man, these guys know how to rock!!!!!!

  • This is amazing, the performance! BTW: I think Zak Starkey is a better drummer then his dad... lol

  • Of course he's better than Ringo. I never thought much of Ringo's drumming

  • HOW DARE YOU! haha just kidding..

yeah me neither, personally I find him mediocre, he got REALLY lucky to be in the beatles cause now he's like a "legend"... oh well, hehe.

    the Who FTW!!

  • See, RIngo wasn't ever the "best" BUT, he did a lot of stuff first. Listen to "A day in the Life"- he does the work of 2 drummers fantastic stuff. Liken it to Hendrix..he pales in comparison to many now, but he was innovative and original.

  • hendrix does not look pale to anyone, did not look pale to anyone and he never will, he was the greatest of all time and he can kick all the modern guitarist's shitty asses with his guitar!!!!!!

  • @sober8 Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles :-)

  • @sober8 wou wtf no way zack is a great drummer but he will never be better than ringo

  • cause keith moon taught him how to play

  • Ox always had a tough time singing this song live. Here, he wisely lets Roger double him. Really makes a huge difference. And the playing here is really good too... What a strange solo from Pete. This one is a gem.

  • Fuck! Look at Pete slap the shit out of that thing! What a performer!

  • Saw this tour at the Gorge. Loved it.

  • And, then goes back to flat picking!

  • Funny that entwistle starts off flat picking, and then goes to finger picking.

  • who's the drummer?

  • Zak Starkey, he's Ringo's kid

  • You know, I had a feeling that is Zak! Coolness! Thanks.

  • best song on who's next

  • fucking unbelievable. the best bass player ever period. notice how he fills in all the spots. rip john u will be missed forever.

  • with all due respect look at pete....he is a better g man than the thunder fingers is at the bass

    with all due respect

  • Uh, no. Pete is amazing and underrated and all that, but no. That would be like saying that Pete is the better vocalist in the band. Or the better drummer.

  • Anytime Entwistle spruced up a bassline or took a solo, he'd always stick to the melody of the song.

    Pete wanks aimlessly a lot.

  • No Way Jay! PT's great hallmark as a soloist was going back to a signature song theme at the right time(s) in a solo to "keep to the song"....ah, got that?!

  • Long Live the Who !

What do you think you hear and see during a thunder storm?

    Moonie and the Ox,,,

    playing and blowing things up.

Rock and roll,,,the way it should be.

    Check my My Wife video

Keith was my idol growing up,

  • It's AMAZING how Zak Starkey can reproduce note by note that unique Keith Moon's drumming style. It demands a lot of practice...

  • yea. he was trained by moon.. lucky sob

  • I just miss THE OX so much!!

  • THE OX!. i love when he threw his pick! haa

  • One of their best songs and one of their best albums.... brings back many happy rock-n-roll memories.

  • R.I.P Thunder Fingers!!!

  • i love it when john throws his pick out and just starts absolutely goin crazy with his fingers

  • LONG LIVE THE OX!!!!!

  • Wow, Pete was on fire.

  • Hehe, does Roger call him "Johnny Twinkle" at the end?

  • Awesome tune! R.I.P. John.

  • God bless the Ox, he is missed!

  • This is proof that dinosaurs ruled the rock world as late as the 21st century!

  • sacredpigeon is a fucking asshole and he's extremely jealous of the GREATEST BASSIST EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! JOHN ENTWISTLE LIVES!

  • I was replying to someone who asked why they called John "the ox"... I know he was a great bassist.

  • AHHHHHHHHH!

  • is this at the palace?

  • i have NOTHING against roger but please let John sing...i luv him!

  • There's a problem with that now. He's dead

  • His voice had pretty much left him by then...he asked Daltry to help him with it, and especially the higher ranges.

  • His voice was not so good then, but he could play bass like hell!

  • Completely awesome.

  • why do they call entwistle the ox

  • Because he was fat, had a tendency to drink a lot, never moved during concerts, and played his bass guitar extremely loud.

  • You're definition of fat disturbs me.

  • That's just what I read.

  • He wasn't fat, but he was a big guy. Big and strong as an ox, perhaps is part of it. But not only that, it was indeed mostly because he was "the quietest guy in real life, but the loudest on stage". Much like his nickname Thunderfingers, which was because of his thundering bass, and his fast fingers.

  • Don't hear him sing that often, but when he sings this at live at leeds it is 1 of the best i've heard from the who.

  • I loooooooove the who! It's with bands like the who that Rock'n'roll will be able to fight against rap and techno-music!

  • fastest fingers on any instrument ive ever seen

  • The Who is the greatest live band of all time. the OX i mean amazing and Townshend with a pretty sick solo, as time progresses they get better. not the same without the OX anymore, RIP Entwistle, make it thunder
