Beautiful Romanian city. Unfortunately now is in Ukraine, due to Ribentrop Molotov pact, a pact which is condemned by the whole world. Except for Ukraine of course!... Moreover, to hide all these, they claim now that Cernauti and the whole region - Bucovina, where always Ukrainian, and...they claim for more from Romanian lands. Also, in the comunist regime, the Romanian population was deported to Kazakstan and Siberia, even killed, in mass murder actions. Now they don't want to recognize this.

@marcelo0320 Romanians and Jews where the most numerous ! Jewish famous Hollywood star Mila Kunis is from Tchernowitz(Cernauti) witch left Ukraine because people are very racist there !
Under international law this city is still Romania what a nonsnense about population, it means that any occupying power can import the people it wants to do what it wants in the Baltic states its illegal and Palestine and East Timor and also in Northern Bukovina, thats the law .
The main part of population is ukrainian so you can say what you want but Chernivtsi is a ukrainian city, even it was under other government for a short time.
@chrisnucker it was of Romanian majority but soviets deported them to Kazahstan you could never build such a city ....only Lvov can be compared to this but you didn`t built that either ...that`s a Polish city !:)
Both my mother and her mother were born Chernovitz. My grandmother was Austrian, my mother was Roumanian. My grandfather and great uncles all served in the Austro-Hungarian Army during WWI. All of the above considered themselves Polish and that was the language they spoke. In fact my mother told me she did not learn to speak Roumanian (It didn't become Romanian until after the Soviet Union overran it) until she learned it in school. So, who is when, where? History is the movement of people.

Chernivtsi is a charming pearl of Ukraine.. it's history and heritage righteously belongs to European history and heritage.. Romanians should stop cherishing their pipe-dream of reclaiming this city and the entire Bucovina. Don't spark flame as it might get into big fire.
@Tchernowizer lol...nobody is afraid of you khazar mercenaries :) the city was founded by romanians and now they have no rights in this fake country!this country will fall down like a MIG ..your president is a russian guy your prime minister has no understanding of the ukranian language ...your country`s economy is registered in Cyprus you have nothing ! wake up man don`t make me laugh ukraine is a pupet of russia and a slave to gazprom..pay the bills and shut up!

Duzhe harny! Thank you for posting this video. I visited in 2010 and fell in love with the magnificent architecture of Chernvisti, especially the university and Kobylyanskoi Olgy Street. I plan to return one day to admire more of the architecture, including the stately and homes along Fedkovycha Street and other beautiful boulevards.
The film is very very good. Thanks for it. That's the city where I lived -- a nice Ukrainian city. The comment by a Romanian nationalist below is very nasty. Should be removed from this page.
@ivan55cherno i'm not nationalist... im romanian, i learn at school about this city, i read books and many other studies ... and the story can't be stollen. let's be seriouse, cernauti is a romanian city. i was last year in cernauti, i see peoples, i talked about that problem... i have one question: why ucraine don't recognize the dual citizenship? ;) think about that
@ivan55cherno all of them peace and harmony between ucraine and romania is the most importanted, and i hope... i really hop that Ucraine to exist in the future who will came ;)

Ukraine must return Moldova, the Bugeac and Bukovina
Stole his piece of the Carpathians and the exit to Black Sea

@slypersonn3
You don't even have a name for Bukovina.
Bukovina means in Slavic language = Padure de fag = Buchenland in Austriaca.
20 de ani a apartinut ruamaiei si 150 de ani Austro-Ungariei.
Tot ce este frumos in oras a fost construit de Austro-Ungurii.
Voi in 20 de ani ati construit Biserici Ortodoxe Rumanesti, ATITA.
Pina si in perioada de 20 de ani cind a apartinut de Rumania numai 25 % au fost Rumani in oras.
Nu mai falsificati istoria.
