  • @beastwool1 Thanks! I think I'll incorporate some interval training timing into it, slow-HARD-slow. Wow, can't wait to start soon!.

  • Can anyone here share/attest to their first hand experience of losing/reducing their belly fat through swimming?. I'd want to learn swimming and make it my core weekly exercise.

  • @BeachBallEffect Oh absolutely. The only catch is make sure you swim very hard. Too many people go to the lap pool and go so slow they're practically floating and then wonder why they don't lose any weight. If you swim hard you will definately lose belly fat.

  • @BeachBallEffect Yeah like beastwool said, you have to actually SWIM hard. I see people swimming at the Y and they just take their time. Don't get be wrong, don't overdue it if you can't, but push yourself. Remember, this is supposed to be a cardio exercise so work yourself as if you're doing exercise.

  • I'm getting dizzy

  • cool beans........you could have just said all of them. save you some breath.

  • getting fricken dizzy.

  • Basically every muscle, that's why swimming is such a great form of exercise..

  • I use my knob muscle as a rudder

  • focus on chest, back and shoulders

  • what bull shit i still cant swim Dx

  • i almost dont use leg muscles because i then spend too much energy with low result

  • @arbanaskocudo your swimming form is most likely out of sync then. when your stroke is correct your body will be in harmony, therefore you wont feel fatigued, because really most of the power in swimming comes from balancing your core and using the momentum and power of your hips and thighs to propel you forward. the fatigue you feel isnt coming from your thighs its coming from your lower legs. go to to the local Y and hire a swim coach! It will pay off I promise you the money will be worth it.

  • Respond to this video... that is in reference at least to freestyle swim stroke

  • i dident even know half of the ones she said

  • also lower arm?

  • practically every single major fucking muscle

  • That video makes me dizzy more than anything..

  • So...........all of them.

  • ayyyeee thats whats up

  • i used to be on a club swim team, and after about 6 months of swimming my thighs were so muscular i could no longer fit into my jeans :\

  • its not that i love swimming i just have a triatholon soon lol i love the cycling more (no offense)

  • Can you do one of these videos for breastroke please? Thanks.

  • me acalambre D:

  • interesting yet dumb....it would have made more sense to highlight the muscles as they were mentioned, instead of making us dizzy

  • Wow this video makes me dizzy @___@

  • what do they mean supporting muscles?

  • The supporting is also primary...

  • You forgot to mention the Transverse abdominus. Otherwise known as the core.

  • That's Y swimmer got bog backs.

  • this video caused me a headache

  • I got my head out of my ass and bought some speedos now I swim a 400 just for a warm up

  • Whoo I'm getting dizzy

  • hi swimmers !! i'm going to swim every day in the summer for like an hour, is it possible to gain bigger muscles by doing this ?, because some 'gym' guys say swimming won't get you bigger, but i don't quite believe that :s

  • @herrmikman they lied you, trust me, you will become bigger and stronger with swimming...

  • @herrmikman My shoulders definitely became broader as I started lap swimming regularly. Also, I noticed my thigh muscles bulked up- probably because of a lot of drills with a kick board. I think that you'll definitely notice a difference if you swim (strenuously) everyday. Good luck!

  • @herrmikman there's a truth on wut they were saying.. if only u wanted to get big n bulky like them. in other hand.. swimming will make ur muscles bigger compared to if ure not commited in any sport. n ur muscle size distributed through out ur body evenly, not like any other sport. such as football, ur muscles build mainly at ur legs. and the more u swim, ur muscles wouldn't get very big like those gym guys' but will be getting more toned n well defined ;)

  • How about all of you pansies go play american football!

  • @clnbnks How about you and I go to a mountain with a couple bikes, climb 10000 feet, and see who deserves to be called a pansy.

  • @Maindsy seriously! tell that to any olympic swimmer and they will beat your ass!

  • @ebourgeois226 Hmmm... swimming is a more comfortable sport at high intensities than running or cycling though. You go through more pain when you run or cycle. They're both far more mentally and physically demanding.

  • @Maindsy88 hah, that's funny! glad i read your comment, i needed a good laugh

  • @Rocoluke27 Ha, so you must be one of those pussy swimmers afraid of exercise on land also! :)

  • @Maindsy88 No, I'm actually more of a runner than a swimmer, and I run a 4:50 mile. So trust me, I'm not at all afraid of exercise on land. =)

  • @Rocoluke27 If the 4:50 is genuine, well done. However, those kinda times are usually achieved by the people who are passionate + committed about their sport and know what kind of mental and physical strength it needs. You clearly don't understand that which is odd for a 4:50 mile runner...

  • @Maindsy Thank you. However, I completely do understand the kind of strength that is needed. In my opinion though, swimming is equally demanding and you go through the same amount of pain as you would running or cycling.

  • @Maindsy88 Try swimming ... its obvious you don't swim. See how challenging it is and you will beg to get back your treadmill

  • @Serhan911 I don't swim, no. I used to swim when I was 18 but now I run and cycle. Swimming is better for joints as there's no impact on pavement etc.. but I'm sorry to say cycling is much harder and painful. Difference in opinions? Do you realise how much pain cyclists go through? Not just for minutes, but hours...

  • @Maindsy do you realize that swimming uses pretty much ever muscle in your body and cycling really only uses your legs.

  • @oyahfftlisawsome yup, swimming is pretty much the most complete exercise around! arms, legs, back, abdominal!

  • @Maindsy Of course, it all depends on how hard you are working, but swimming is more complete. Swimming may seem easier because you use more of your body at once, but this just means you can push them all at once instead of focusing on legs. Furthermore, the pain you get from pounding the pavement isn't all muscular, like you said, joints are fragile. But, you know, different strokes (pun intended) for different folks.

  • swimming is TOTALLY AWESOME

  • It is one thing having the muscles but another knowing how to use them. Most folks go through the motion but developing a mind muscle like and being able to utilize fully the back muscles is key I believe.

  • i didnt understand a word she said

  • well technically muscles at the head area aren't used since you're not supposed to bob / peck motion when butterflying, head needs to be stable. its just good to note this since a good plenty of beginning swimmers try to move their head to breathe by "looking up".

  • Auxiliary is an unused muscle. Notice how she says "There are no Auxiliary muscles used in freestyle swimming". So yeah, EVERY muscle is used. But the major ones are your lower back legs (Running up hills is an activity out of water that helps these), Chest/Stomach (Situps and all core workouts help these muscles), Triceps (Pullups/chinups, and weight lifting/pushups are great exercises for these). Do these regularly outside of the water, but do not forget to do ALL of your sets IN the water.

  • lol, yeah i saw this and was like "ok... i guess that helps me know what muscles i need to work on?"

  • all of them. You pretty much need all of them. Work on all of them.

  • wht are auxiliary muscles?

  • @eddie2593 auxiliary muscles are muscles which contribute to any movement but do not take the main weight and help to execute a movement. i hope you could understand what (im no native speaker).

  • do the supporting muscles do the same thing?

  • @eddie2593

just imagine you are holding up in a horizontal line. then all muscles which keep your arm in this elevated position are auxiliary muscles. so auxiliary muscles are muscles that keep something in position but do not "contract".

  • ah thx 4 clearing that up :)

  • dats grat y did u stop

  • everybody tell me your age and your fastest 50 free. comment on my account

  • its a good workout.

  • I guess they don't care about the rhomboids.

  • The rhomboids are used for scapular stabilization if your shoulder joint is looser (which many swimmers develop after lots of training).

  • swimming is Great, having an ear full of wax from swimming to much is not good, and swimming in a public pool full of human waste is also not good :(, fuck it i need thee exercise, anyone agree with me :)

  • I had the same issue. But, since I started using earplugs I don't get nearly as much water as I used to. If you haven't tried them yet, I recommend Speedo ear plugs, stay away from the ones that look like clear putty.

  • Agreed, i swim open water in the summer and feel cleaner exiting the lake, than i do exiting the public pool...

  • almost all of it

  • stupid turning around is pissing me off.. head ache.

  • the best muscle is the steroid
