Quick tip. If you want to record forever, in the HDPVRCapture software. Simply set the time to 00:00. Tried it out, and it worked. However, you will have to click the Stop button yourselves. ;)
Ok guys I got a legit solution..if you are having issues with laggy/choppy .mp4 (final video product) it is very likely this "bug" with the 2011 HDPVR firmware. This is straight from email I received from the software developer. They are tracking the bug and are hoping for a fix sometime in the near future. He gave me a workaround solution that seems to work great...(next post)

Problem is with the post processing. It gives me the two files (m2ts and m4). The mpeg4 is so bad when I play it back in vlc I haven't even tried to edit it. I'll check out your other vids, but unless I get another converter that will do m2ts---mpeg4 without quality loss..think my problem is with the post processing itself. Tha

@Donkahue Sounds like your issue is during the process where you are converting the videos to .mp4's. Or, your final rendered video files. So, without knowing exactly what you are doing, and with what, it's hard to diagnose the problem.
I have 12 or so videos on the HDPVR on my channel in the HDPVR playlist. In that playlist, is a video on rendering HD videos. Perhaps those settings can help you. Let me know...
@Donkahue : Hey man I think I'm havin the same problem. I just got a HD PVR Gaming Edition and downloaded the free trial of HD PVR Capture and am having some serious lag/choppy issues. In viewing the clips in the m2ts files they look amazing. But once I compress them to mp4 in the software, they're trash. Does this sound like the same problem you're having?
I have a problem, I got HDPVR capture and set it up just like this video did. Works awesome, I record video with no lag or anything. The only problem is the audio, I can hear the game through my Triton headphones, but not on the TV. Also when I record, no audio is being recorded. I know it is not a faulty PVR because it worked on my windows computer just fine I just recently switched to MAC and can not record audio. I tried going to sound setting on PS3 also, nothing. PLEASE HELP!!
I don't know about other people but when I use HDPVR Capture I can't seem to get to play on Quicktime Player and when I try to import files on iMovie it takes too long to import usually I'll try to import a 15 min video but it will take about 3 hours for it finally finish importing. Thanks for your videos, I've watched quite a few of them. Do you have luck importing the video files from HDPVR Capture into Final Cut Pro? Everytime I import the file it acts fine, but when placed on the timeline it will give me a "General Error" Any suggestions?

I downloaded the demo of HD PVR and it's working well, but of course I intend to record 15+ minute videos of gameplay. Also, I had a little issue. When I chose the AC3 audio option, I would get a constant "buzz" during the videos. The 2-channel ACC seems to prevent this from happening. Any idea why?
@AOTASniping Theres a somewhat complicated list of instructions that you have to follow in order to change your hdpvr capture program to "regular" instead of "demo". The creator of the program sent me an email upon purchase of my copy outlining the instructions. what version of iMovie are you using? because i had poor import quality and playback so i changed from 11 to 06 cos i heard it imported better but it doesn't import my vids in HD : /
@1012mikestar You're not going to get the "pro" features in most Windows apps without spending the money for a good editing suite. But if you want good features and a great price, look into Adobe Premiere Elements. Should be $80-$100. As for the HD PVR, you won't ding anything better, especially in the price range.
Everything works 4 me, but i cant change the time, for how long it should record. I can change it but it will always record for just 2 minutes. That's extremely annoying to press record every 2 min... is there a solution?

@DizzyDougTV I have actually done that and it seems like it wont work... That happen to one of my friend to. Me other friend got the older version ( I guess ) and it works for him perfectly. He even brought his Mac ( Macbook witch I have ) and connected my hdpvr to his computer and it didn't work. So the "newer" version of the hdpvr does not work for EyeTV . Thats my guess anyway

hi i have just had my hd pvr delivered today and i have downloaded the hdpvrcapture software for my mac so i can record my xbox but i am having a problem with the video when i come to watch it in iMovie. when im playing the picture quality looks great but when i come to watch it in itunes after it has finished recording the picture quality looks great but when i import it into imovie it is lagand there are random flashes that appear which r not in itunes do you have any suggestions for me?thanks
@Tim2biT maybe you have a sleep time on youre laptop se it goes to sleep in lets say 15 min inactivity you can change that under bettery settings or it goes to sleep because you have youre laptop running under youre battery only.
@xKiiNgZzHD Its because you need to render the video in iMovie/ Video editing software, in the meantime just decrease the size of the window so the screen is smaller.
can you do a video on your editing software you use on mac and how you render out your videos? your quality is beautiful and i want my videos to be like that.

@S4CHIIN you can just change the tag on the video to mp4 or download iSquint (free download) and convert the video to mp4 (or PSP / iPod compatible as iSquint will ask you). good luck!!

hey doug, I did everything in the video, and when I pressed record, it says that I dont have a USB 2.0 version, that I have a 1.1. It says that if I record I will get hangs or stalls, but that I can change my preferences in settings/misc, but I have no misc. What do I do?
DizzyDoug, I use this software with imovie for my gameplay.
Its fine when I playback before rendering on quicktime and on imovie.
But after rendering there are little visual jerks and pixel errors (best description, you can see in my latest videos) and I dont know why they're appearing.
I render them at mpeg-4 as H.264 at 1280 x 720.
And it comes up with the little video errors. The audio is fine but I can't figure out why iMovie is making the clips this way.
Hey i'm using the demo version and I am using the new Xbox Slim with HDTV cables. I have plugged in the HDTV from the PVR to the tv, then i have plugged in my standard Red, White, Yellow to the back side and but the yellow in the green spot, this works for the capture but there is no audio and the screen is black/white on my mac, I can see and hear everything fine on my tv. Thumbs up so he sees this.
@tolo1377 that is not HD component cables if there's only red, white and yellow. HD component cables have 2 reds, white, blue and green. 5 cables total.
@KlutchXV yer i didnt have hdtv component cables at the time so i had the PVR's component running to the tv and just plugged my composite cables in but it didnt work. Now i'm doing it the proper way with actual HDTV cables, and i get HD footage but I need widescreen for youtube, check out my channel for the quality test and let me know how to get it in widescreen, thx
I can't seem to record virtual console games on my Wii longer than a few seconds. It keeps cutting off my recording everytime I try to record Sonic 1 virtual Console game. Please Help!!

@MartianMilitiaTV No it's easier to use a non-mac computer the software is for windows. That's why he put it up. ( I know this because I've got the same computer type and pvr plus software ). Trust me on a mac it's a pain to deal with but I did get mine to work ( in large part due to this vid ).
@paki123@paki123 Final Cut Pro can edit the MP4 videos. I don't suggest Express, as it has to convert everything to a DV format like those used in DV cameras before it can be edited, which takes FOREVER. iMovie can also edit the MP4s, but Final Cut Pro has a lot more options and better editing tools.
Dizzy, I really want to see my video while I am recording. The option is just gray and I can click or select yes. It just automatically selects no... any ideas?
on the inputs page at the bottom it says video signal detection: my video signal detection says 720x480x60fps and yours says 1280x720x60fps this is obviously messing with my quality how do i change it ?

@OriginalxV3NoM Yes. So long as you can connect to the device via component and it's set for HD in either 720p or 1080i.

when my videos are in itunes they look great but when they are in imovie the quality isnt as good ant the video flashes for some reason and its really frustrating because i dont want to upload a video of poor quality please help thanks

hi i have just had my hd pvr delivered today and i have downloaded the hdpvrcapture software for my mac so i can record my xbox but i am having a problem with the video when i come to watch it in iMovie. when im playing the picture quality looks great but when i come to watch it in itunes after it has finished recording the picture quality looks great but when i import it into imovie it is lagand there are random flashes that appear which r not in itunes do you have any suggestions for me?thanks

my hd pvr only records for a short amount of time then the screen on my laptop goes black and stops recording.. why???

@Tim2biT maybe you have a sleep time on youre laptop se it goes to sleep in lets say 15 min inactivity you can change that under bettery settings or it goes to sleep because you have youre laptop running under youre battery only.

@xKiiNgZzHD Its because you need to render the video in iMovie/ Video editing software, in the meantime just decrease the size of the window so the screen is smaller.

@S4CHIIN you can just change the tag on the video to mp4 or download iSquint (free download) and convert the video to mp4 (or PSP / iPod compatible as iSquint will ask you). good luck!!

hey doug, I did everything in the video, and when I pressed record, it says that I dont have a USB 2.0 version, that I have a 1.1. It says that if I record I will get hangs or stalls, but that I can change my preferences in settings/misc, but I have no misc. What do I do?

DizzyDoug, I use this software with imovie for my gameplay.
Its fine when I playback before rendering on quicktime and on imovie.
But after rendering there are little visual jerks and pixel errors (best description, you can see in my latest videos) and I dont know why they're appearing.
I render them at mpeg-4 as H.264 at 1280 x 720.
And it comes up with the little video errors. The audio is fine but I can't figure out why iMovie is making the clips this way.
I would really appreciate help.

Hey i'm using the demo version and I am using the new Xbox Slim with HDTV cables. I have plugged in the HDTV from the PVR to the tv, then i have plugged in my standard Red, White, Yellow to the back side and but the yellow in the green spot, this works for the capture but there is no audio and the screen is black/white on my mac, I can see and hear everything fine on my tv. Thumbs up so he sees this.

@tolo1377 that is not HD component cables if there's only red, white and yellow. HD component cables have 2 reds, white, blue and green. 5 cables total.

@KlutchXV yer i didnt have hdtv component cables at the time so i had the PVR's component running to the tv and just plugged my composite cables in but it didnt work. Now i'm doing it the proper way with actual HDTV cables, and i get HD footage but I need widescreen for youtube, check out my channel for the quality test and let me know how to get it in widescreen, thx

@MartianMilitiaTV No it's easier to use a non-mac computer the software is for windows. That's why he put it up. ( I know this because I've got the same computer type and pvr plus software ). Trust me on a mac it's a pain to deal with but I did get mine to work ( in large part due to this vid ).

DizzyDoug, the colour on my TV screen is greenish yellow. What could be the problem? It's not the same as yours.

Is there a program that doesn't require you to convert your videos to an mov file? I'd rather just edit it as an mp4.

@paki123 @paki123 Final Cut Pro can edit the MP4 videos. I don't suggest Express, as it has to convert everything to a DV format like those used in DV cameras before it can be edited, which takes FOREVER. iMovie can also edit the MP4s, but Final Cut Pro has a lot more options and better editing tools.

on the inputs page at the bottom it says video signal detection: my video signal detection says 720x480x60fps and yours says 1280x720x60fps this is obviously messing with my quality how do i change it ?
