  • Michigan really could use some new industry. Many of the people living there are having a difficult time.

  • Korean car companies have only become serious competitors in the last 10 years or so. Honda and Toyota have been hurting the big 3 since the 70's.

  • The Big Three US auto industry have'nt been a powerhouse in any industry US or otherwise since the 1980's. Pls. refer to US steel industry as the template google 'rustbelt'.

  • so much for the superiority of the protestant ethic. what a joke !!!

    what comes around goes around

  • - Destruction of USA economy started wtih USA entering World Trade Organisation , How can you compete when in CHINA they are paid 2-3 $ per hour , in USA minimum wage is 7.75 $ ,, Stupid ,, Clinton signed it , and signed the deal which is going to fuck Up USA production , ,,

People who counted on corporate liars, I hate 2 say it. It's your own fault. u allowed those policies now u're reaping the benefits of those choices

Where were u when people were trying 2 prevent these faulty choices?

Now u want us 2 come to ur rescue? When u did nothing 2 come 2 ours

Who will save us when the whole things goes down the toilet?

    That's what I thought

    peace :)

  • US car industry produced trash in the past 25 years. Detroit needs to stock up cat food, lol. ——————/´ ¯/) —————--/—-/ —————-/—-/ ———--/´¯/'--'/´¯`•_ ———-/'/--/—-/—--/¨¯\ ——--('(———- ¯~/'--') ———\————-'—--/ ———-'\'————_-•´ ————\———--( ————-\———--\
  • This is what happens when people let their lives be governed by unions. If people would take more control and responsibilty of their lives, then the the UAW wouldn't have as much power to run down the auto industry.

  • it looks like the third world in America today

the last 40 years the NWO has gutted looted and raped Americans blind.

  • dead right the greedy bankers that robed america n its people to its knees they get $700 Billion for robbing the country n its peopple to their knees YET the motor industry that has contributed so much over the years to the us economy gets a lick up the ass wake up guys what is happening to the auto industry its more to do with the greedy bankers not the car workers save u r motor industry save the workers there not the bankers

  • W O R D

  • The US car industry has 3 problems (especially overseas)

    Quality, Price Production ammount

India and China produce MASSIVE AMMOUNTS of cars, that sometimes have higher quality than US cars (source: an incovienent truth from Al Gore)

Quality: Cars, especially from Germany, Korea, and Japan have amazingly high quality. I am shocked sometimes how low the quality of cars are in cities like Boston or NY!!!

The US just produces to much cars! and in the current crisis NO ONE will buy shitty cars!

  • Using An Inconvenient Truth as a source isn't a good idea. The movie is full of half truths and downright baloney. It is a propaganda film. As far as India and China having cars with better quality that US cars is hard to believe.

  • i menat one specific type of car. sorry if i didnt put it out clearly enough. but i found the book actually very good. it has alot of sources which one can check up if one questions the data.

  • If you mean the cheapest Big 3 models compared with the top of the few line or close to top of the line model(s)then I might believe that. As for as anything Al Gore has his paws into,I don't put much credibility into it.He's a self-serving opportunist prick that owns about 5 SUVs, a private jet, a huge mansion with a zinc mine in his backyard, & he preaches about how everyone else needs to consume less energy while he flies and drives all over the world & eats juicy steaks & food in abundance.

  • really how many cars can we buy , they build them just to build them. why we need so many makes and models is stupid.people should rebuild what they got.cars should be more rebuild friendlly.

  • but also remember that newer cars r far more fuel efficient even Mercs decided their care where over engineered n cut down on quality then they had to spend an extra billion to get back where they belonged but i see Merc's logic tak an old Merc even a 60s n their switches work as good as ever that is defenately way over engineered but with top quality toyatas that cost a lot less n as reliable as a wood burning stove

Mercs had to go back to their old quality

  • Big3 make junk crappy products thats why..

how come Kia a crap car company opened an assembly plant just last week because they are gonna be selling a LOT OF CARS !!!!

  • anyones notice who posted this video?

RussiaToday must have a hidden agenda showing video on people living off trailer park MI. Most trailer village is poor in US even when the economy wasnt good. Have u seen villages outside Moscow? no comment.. US is a 16T+ economy, compare that to the 2nd richest in the world Japan at 3T+, not even close! Ppl in US bitch on everything! Notice Canada has the 2nd largest oil reserved, sells their gas at almost 2x as much as in US, i dont hear them complaining.

  • if we are the richhest nation in the world why do we have a deficit of 11 trillion-its a fake economy that we live in today-by credit-usa is 80 percent consumer based-we hardly produce anything-except shit in are toilets

  • I suggest u study a lil economics on why more wealth means more credit and higher inflation.

Send me your email, I'll send u a link that is anti-government (rest assured not a Neo-Con propaganda.) on how the economy works and why higher inflation means bigger economy for the USA. Personally, outsourcing anything have consequences. Government must regulate this area, either charge a hefty tariff on anything from overseas or lose to the competition. BTW, I am not American, but I do love u guys!

  • You've been eating up too much Central Bank propaganda. More wealth does not mean higher inflation. Increasing the ratio of money to wealth creates inflation, and that is the nature of fractional reserve banking.

Economic growth - Money supply growth = Inflation

Inflation is a monetary phenomenon. The mismangement of the money supply, relative to economic growth, is what creates inflation.

Countries don't become wealthy simply by creating more money. Ask Zimbabwe about that one.

  • Take a reality check Chuck - the US is fucked.

  • It's a $16T economy that works because the rest of the world keeps buying our primary export -- little green pieces of paper. The US is the world's most privileged nation by having the monopoly privilege of printing the world's reserve currency at a cost of nothing but the paper and ink.

But some day, that will end. It is inevitable.

  • and your going down with it because u live in the US.. FOOL! Im not because my country is not even affected by the current financial crisis. instead of putting down your country, maybe u should understand how really the free market economy works in the real world. debt = higher inflation = more money

  • There is a big difference b/w putting down "my country" and stating facts. I am a citizen of the world.

Trust me I know how today's "money" and debt are related. The problem arrives when the debt is unserviceable.

Your country has been bailing out banks. Not boding well for the swiss franc I'm sure, which has declined against the USD. Basically the whole world is in recession.

  • RE: Countries don't become wealthy simply by creating more money. Ask Zimbabwe about that one. (i agree)

FYI, im only a temporary resident in Switzerland.

Money borrowed by the Feds from Central bank creates inflation. Foreign governments investing money to the US because it is the most stable economy in the world. Think of a business borrowing money and re-investing it to the market/economy. And what's wrong with that picture? Isn't that is a reason why it is called a market economy??

  • Lets make it simple..

If someone borrowed money from the bank to invest it into a business or real state. Would you call that person broke because he owed thousands or millions + interest to the bank? I think not.. more like he just expanded his wealth in liquid assets.

  • You're right, investing in *something* that has income producing potential is worthwhile.

Unfortunately, our government borrowed metric tons of money to support an occupation of Iraq/Afghanistan. This money is going into a black hole--there is no income stream coming online to pay the money back.

We also borrowed a lot of money to pay for new cars and plasma TV's...these are consumer goods with no income stream.

  • So u call Microsoft and other high tech industry or even the defence industry non-worthwhile? US is home to top biggest corporation in the world.

Of course the war is a distraction to the economy, but neccessary. The war in Iraq and Afghanistan is a small piece of pie to the whole US spending budget. Who ask u to borrow money againts your means? Its an individual responsibility living in a free society. It can only be better in a business sense, work hard = better life, more toys and things.

  • And of course pay more taxes to the government. This is how US economy machine moves and expand just like any other business out in the world.

  • The US does have a large agricultural base that can produce goods for the world. But the manufacturing base was largely outsourced long ago.

The whole idea of the US providing the world reserve currency is outdated and highly problematic for all involved. Right now everyone is just trying to keep it going, but the system will have to be reformed eventually.

  • RE: The US does have a large agricultural base that can produce goods for the world. But the manufacturing base was largely outsourced long ago.

(I totally agree with you) Outsourcing even doing it online, like for example web developments should be regulated. How could a US company compete with prices in India or China?

US as world reserve currency is dictated by many factors and so far US leads the world in many aspect. In short it is the safest biggest economy in the world!

  • Hahahahaaaaa!!! You make me laugh silly dude: The US does have a large agricultural base that can produce goods for the world.

HAHAHAHA! You are so lame! Most of the US soil is worthless from the agricultural point of view. This is why they are importing more than they afford to. This is why they will starve during 2009-2010. Hahaha! You'll see how safe and big their economy is. I was talking with a couple of friends one year ago. I told them: US economy can be brought down with just a straw...

  • This is what we get for free trade. The Koreans and Japanese sell their ricers here at will while our people suffer. Toyota and Honda hire temporary workers without health care then lay them off at will.. So much for free trade

  • RT, please fix your sound. Some vids I have to turn up the volume all the way, then I watch another vid and I get blasted!

  • yeah these crap cars run out of history lol

  • everyone go get the bikes its clean and cheap (:

  • If they would not make such bad looking cars people would buy them.

They should fire the car designers.

  • Damn, looking at Michigan is like the same thign as looking at Africa.

  • Michigan is colder. And less people have AIDS.

  • "jerk the economy")))))))))))))

  • USA sucks, american cars sucks, this is decadent america, things change, bush knew it that's why he tried to provoke wwiii, to improve USA economy as in wwii, but failed, now he goes out, old, rejected, but rich, yes he goes out rich, but america...

  • What the fuck are you talking about? WW2 started before America joined it so how did we prevoke it? We were attacked at pearl harbor and thats our fault? Your right American cars do suck and thats why people dont buy them, but its because of the people running them not because of Americans.

  • Well, we did do things to provoke the Japanese. We can thank FDR and his cronies for that.

  • You people are so pathetic. I used to think that the religous right were by far the stupidest people in the world. I now see that left has there share of retards as well. I bet that if alians from space invaded the earth you people would blame that on us to. If a gamma ray is about to strike the earth you people would blame that on us.

  • I stated a fact. If I was on the left, would I have criticized FDR? If you'd like to address the facts, then let's discuss this. If you just wish to insult me and make incorrect assumptions about me to make yourself feel better, by all means, continue. Who's us you keep referring to?? Rude people, such as yourself??

  • Ok lets address it. The Americans moved there navel fleet from San Francisco to Hawaii. And the Americans cut off rubber and other vital stuff to Japan. Hawaii and the philipines were an American territory. We had every right to what we did. We did cause we were afraid of an Japanese attack. And you say we provoked them? We were taking steps incase the Japanese attacked.

  • We were supposed to be a neutral country. Some of what we did, moving our fleet around, was fine, but boycotting some countries, while supplying others, isn't neutral. Attacking submarines before a declaration of war isn't neutral. Allowing mercenaries to go to China and fight the Japanese, this was mainly pilots I believe, isn't being neutral, and is an act of war. I'm not saying I liked, what the Japanese did, I know the things they did to the civilians, in China, Philippines, Honk Kong, etc.

  • but that doesn't excuse using dirty tactics to provoke an attack. FDR was a piece of crap for doing these things and others to anger and make the Japan empire feel the necessity to attack. In the end, they got what they wanted, an attack by the "sneaky" Japanese, and the majority of the people willing to give up their sons for the war effort.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, OK. Enemies? Everyone likes me. What are you talking about?

  • it not only the American problem, because of this economic crisis a lot of people became the unemployed! But it is the american fault, whole world suffers because of the american imperial politics!!!

  • Mwahhahahaha

  • The US automakers make tremendous cars, far better than the cars they made two decades ago.

They can't make a profit because they have big fat labor contracts reminiscent of the New Deal hey-dey of Big Labor in the 1930s.

They need 21st century global economy labor contracts with much lower labor rates as Toyota has.

  • It wouldn't hurt if they improved the quality of their engines and transmission. They had a handful of engines and transmissions in the 80's and 90's that were just plain junk.

  • What is killing the US automakers?

Socialist labor contracts not the free market.

The 3 US automakers make fuel efficient vehicles but they can't make a profit on them due to their high labor costs.

They can only make profit on the more expensive larger vehicles which have not sold well recently due to the high gas prices.

There are more mansions in Michigan than in Russia.

You should have toured Bloomfield Hills or Gross Pointe for all the background scenes.

  • Hey, below average working gal, go back to school to learn what you are talking about. You obviously have no clue.

  • down with all American industries!
