This is so amazing! So the church was there, but you could not get to it in the game. What i want to know is why put something like a church in the game if there is no way of getting to it (in the game of course)

@MrHaxman123 Thats probably exactly it. SH2 was made waay early during PS2's release, so it's possible that they originally contemplated a PS1 release.
Stuff like SH1, MGS, GT were the hight of the PS1's graphics. Ugly as fuck by today's standards, but I feel that more than any other console, you see a huge leap in graphics over the years. i think this is in large due because 3d games were a new thing back then, and while artists had perfected 2d-gaming, this new thing had a long ways to go. 95-96 games were ugly as sin.
isnt there just suppose to be a lighthouse on that island thats used as a prison for the children of wish house? that little rock on the map must be bigger than it looks if it has a lighthouse AND a church.

It's located on the island in the center of the lake you cross in the boat-rowing sequence. In the game, there is an "invisible wall" that prevents you from going in. This is not a fake, though. They just hacked to get through the invisible wall. This is not uncommon at all. There are plenty of times where, in order to make a game's release date, the developers decide to cut out certain areas that were going to be playable. They cover up the unfinished animations by putting up "invisible walls."

Have you even seen the way the majority of the game looks? And considering this was one of the first games on the PS2.
So I stand by my point. In the scene in which this island was shown, the ONLY TIME IT IS EVER SEEN IN THE GAME, it is a good distance away, and you can barely see it past the fog. In short, it was NEVER meant to be seen this clearly, so improving this would have been a waste of time and effort for Konami

Ah, just wanna confirm; there is no way to get there legitimatley, in-game (durring the boat sequence)?
I had thought I read once somewhere that you could, and all there was the was some ammo and a health drink near the church, but I doubt I remember right.
Also, the difficulty of that @#%&ing sequence in hard mode, let alone navigating all the way to the island...
I remember when once i loaded a normal savegame and immidately loaded a rebirth-ending-savegame.
Must had been a bug but after loading finished i was also on this island. I couldn't move James neither i saw the whole churchfront but it really dropped my jaw.
haha i was hopin to see James slash at the screen for the big finish (after all he DID have a giant butter knife) but good none the less nice dialogue by the way.

too bad for you. The shaking screen is caused by the camera hack program that was used. the "forest ground" and the background/church are actually IN the game, you can see them in the rebirth ending.
if you beat the game then goto the apartment where you find the flashlight theres a magazine that says other conclucsions wich talks about the suicide ending
Well it only does exist in the cutscene, but the scene itself was made from in game graphics. It's basically... like the pyramid rape scene. It's in the same apartment, because that's the actual map used in the game. He just found the map used for the rebirth ending and hacked his way onto it. Cool, no? :D
I didnt quite understand this one. I mean i see what your doing but what exactly was the meaning of this. Is James refering to Mary or Maria? Who exactly is he talking to? Laura maybe? I liked it none the less. Id love to know what program you used and where i might beable to find the same if you dont mind

thats fake iv beaten the game on all difficulty levels and gotten all endings and the maximum number of stars and iv spent hours on that lake looking for something , and there is nothing there, but you did a good job fooling these people.
LogicTT, this is not a 'find' aka just a random building in the city..
This is a fragment from the Rebirth Ending - the one where you have to collect the ceremonial items. And you can' get it unless you've beaten the game at least once in meduim /hard mode. After you get this one you can actually aim for the Dog ending - definitely a must-see!!!
I went on beginner mode first, got the leave ending. Then I got the rebirth ending after collecting the 4 items. It doesnt matter what level your on when you first play throu As long you beat it the game once, then your fine.
can you actually row your boat to the little island. i didnt know you could. i cant find my point on the map when i am rowing so i dont know how to get there.

Awesome video, from one SH fan to another. ATTN: Douchebags, the video is NOT serious, that IS the real island, when you're not stupid you CAN hack games and do this stuff. You should try to make your own rebirth version.
I wouldn't expect something that requires a hack to work terribly smoothly, so animations and choppy camera aside, it was cool to see the textures from Rebirth up close.
Whoa...for the SH2 fan like myself, this is quite the find. So there is a Church on that island too, huh? That probably means that it was at one point supposed to be a building you could go into. My best guess is that the DEVs cut it out before the final release.

The reason these graphics are so bad is because, you know, it's just supposed to be a piece of the background
So, it's far away, plus you have the fog, so it's really not all that visible.
So, seriously, why should they work hard on a piece of scenery that isn't meant to be seen up close anyway?

I wouldn't expect something that requires a hack to work terribly smoothly, so animations and choppy camera aside, it was cool to see the textures from Rebirth up close.

It was never implied to be? Even the description says
"Short video I made of a camera/character positioning hack in action on Silent Hill 2 on the island seen in the 'Rebirth' ending."
The island is real. The church on the island is real. I used a camera/character hack to go to the island in the game.

Whoa...for the SH2 fan like myself, this is quite the find. So there is a Church on that island too, huh? That probably means that it was at one point supposed to be a building you could go into. My best guess is that the DEVs cut it out before the final release.
