There are more bikes in the canals of Amsterdam than in the rest of the Netherlands. There are more bikes in the Dutch canals than there are grains of sand on the beach. There are more bikes stolen in Holland than there are canals to put them in. There are 16 million bicycles in Holland and most of them are in the canals and stolen - ie most bikes that are stolen then go to the canal , in a huge recycling operation upon which the Dutch economy is based: I thought theDutch economy was based on...
OK That's it. I know I started the joke about the bikes in the info section. But when you come to Holland by bike? yours I personally throw in there in a second...maybe then...you can make it to the second clip about those churches or Anne Franks house.....
What, there are churches on there and who is Anne frank ? I never got past the bikes and canal clearance, I dragged the mouse on the bar and played it over again, I did see one bike that I liked, do they untwist the wheels too ?
Ah, Ah,typisch Nederlands alle fietsen in de water geworpen. Oh,yeah typical Dutch don't know where to put my bike --- I'll put it in the canal & later i can watch it being fished out. I thought thsy called the coffee houses "tea houses not tobe confused with other substances. Brownies laced with substances & whipped cream, well smiley whatever next. !!!Good quality filming and interesting aspects of Amsterdam but where is "Broodje van Kootje" that is the ultimate, and Paradiso? bestaat het nog
What Dil? YOU put it in the canal? no you park it alongside the canal and when there's no more space? we make space. And off course a coffee shop is called coffee shop....Broodje van Kootje and rock temple Paradiso are still there...there's only so much you can film:)
There's no space in Amsterdam that's why the bikes are parked in the canal because then the Dutch don't need to pay for parking, well they don't anyway. I don't know where i read that but I heard in Holland they started calling them "tea houses " so you know what you're buying. I realise you can't film everything , that was really stupid of me!! I've seen many uni cycles in Amsterdam, i.e. one wheel chained to a lamppost, maar ik ben geen pispaaltje en ik neem geen fiets naar Amsterdam.
This one is by FAR, my favorite! And I loved how you gave descriptions in the "more info." section. Better than a History class. And those BIKES!!! OMG!!! Are you kidding me?
Does that coffee shop offer those coffee-like drinks, that don't really taste like coffee, but have loads of sugar, whipped cream and chocolate? If so, I'm there! Woohoo!
haha well Smile, those bikes are thrown in there...kids.This month they even dragged a car out of it with the guy still in there...been missing since '92 after a pub visit. Beer and parking don't go together on the canals...and lock the bike to the bridge-railing ...just a tip, because when you come for that "funny drink"you mention your main transport for here is a bike, you know.
WW, you might get more than you bargained for going into a Dutch coffee shop, but i think you'd prefera bruin cafe than anything & maybe oliebollen with i think -- profitieere ? ask 17 he knows this Dutch stuff
Hey Bunso, The river leads to the Amsterdam harbour eventually.Did you see those two people peddling ? ha that's a great way to see Amsterdam. We picked up guests from Shiphol airport many times ,and take them on a boat tour( as seen in the first vid) but most fall asleep...jetlag....
Thanks for the tour and the info. Love Amsterdam! My favourite city.
