  • Not bad. It would have been better if you a tripod. Nice quality good sound..

  • thank you. one last thing. I have the USB given with the camera, but once i plug it in nothing happens. Its really been annoying me and it would make me so pumped if i finally learned how to import it. any instructions?

  • @EsWpProductions Hi, Plug the cable into the Mac & the camera. Open the LCD screen on the camera. Switch the camera on to "Play" rather than record. A menu should pop up on the LCD screen. Select the middle item which I think says "PC" or something like that. iMovie should then recognise the camera and begin importing the movie from the camera. If you have any more problems please let me know.

    Regards

  • i have a panasonic SDR-S26, as well as Imovie. How would I import the footage from my camera into Imovie since the SDR does not have a firewire port and/or cable? could you please help me!

  • @EsWpProductions Hi. You should be able to import to iMovie using the USB cable supplied with the the SDR-S26 - it is the standard kind of USB cable supplied with digital cameras. I use iMovie 09.

  • I bought this camera on Friday and am taking it back Monday. The manual says you get "DVD quality", which fine on youtube but if you want to watch them on a HDTV you will be disappointed. My old Sony handcam gave MUCH better results.

    I'm gutted.

  • it's not meant to be HD compatible. i love my SRD-S26 camcorder, it's an awesome camera.

  • That's because u don't have it on the right scene mode to get the quality u want...... it's like it's in HD for me

  • I am interested in buying the SDR-S26. You seem to give the camera a positive recommendation. I noticed you mention iMovie. Did the video import easy? I ask because I've read elsewhere that sometimes it records .MOD files that have to be converted to .mpg. I just want to hook & import or insert the flash card into my macbook and import quick and easy.

  • Interesting...

I export the videos from my Panasonic SDR-S26 to 640x360 (which is the size of the YouTube display window and 16:9). It removes the HQ button, however the video is still in HQ (and seems to be the only option).

This makes for a smaller upload with a better picture (because I don't have to first enlarge each frame from 640x360 (which is the actual frame size of this camcorder) to 960x540 just to have YT downsize it again).

  • how do you upload to youtube in widescreen using this camera

  • I use a resolution of 960 x 540.

  • how do you get this in 16:9 aspect ratio, im recording with the 16:9 function but it still comes up as 4:3

  • I use a resolution of 960 x 540. I don't use the camera's YouTube function. I film in XP mode and then export from iMovie 09. I hope this helps.

  • hey again, sorry i keep bothering you but i tried filming in XP mode and it was still in 4:3 when i uploaded. i dont know how to get a 960x540 resolution and i use windows movie maker not imovie

  • you have to convert the video file with a different program

  • and what might that program be?

  • rofoshomedia put this in your tags on YouTube yt:stretch=4:3 yt:crop=16:9 yt:quality=high or go buy Magix Movie Edit Pro 15 which is cheap and Export it MPEG Standard DVD Widescreen Video: 720x480; 29.97 Frames/s; 16:9; Quality 15 Audio: AC3; 5.1 surround; 48000 Hz.

  • one o they burds ended up preggers

  • can't decide between this cam and the sdr s7 which is smaller and has only 10 x zoom but also has marginally better sensors.... so i am informed ;)

    confusssssing

  • I don't regret buying this camera. It does everything I want it to and it fits in the pocket.. The picture is not HD but it is still good. I use my Canon HV20 for HD shots with 10X zoom, but I can't really get close enough to birds with it without using the blurry digital zoom. So for birds it's the Panasonic 90% of the time now.
