The interesting thing about the whole 1984 NC being " Fake" as you put it is that if the 1984 voting system would have been in place in 2008 because the Utes were the only undefeated team, they probably would have been outright national champs. I am guessing the whole illegitimate NC argument would not exist if this were the case.
