Thanks for this informative video. The 3 layer sprouter seems very efficient, but I am wondering do you rinse all three trays at once without taking them out of the trays? Can you sprout different beans on different levels at the same time? Thanks so very much for this video and your kitchen is amazing!
@nicolerowan Hi Nicole, I take them out of the trays to rinse them, if they are all the same, I put them all in the colander together, rinse and divide evenly between the trays again. If they are different, and yes, you can do different kinds together, rinse them separately and put back. Thanks for your comments....I like my kitchen too : )
@RedTailedTuna Sorry, I didn't see this until now! About a 1/4 to 1/2 inch, bite into one and see how it is when you think it's ready, they are nice, crispy and tasty : )
I need help growing garbanzo bean plants.. they are sprouted and once the root started to become brown and dried out on the end due to continuous rinsing and drying, i started just soaking the whole beans in a shallow pool of water and now the root looks healthy again is this okay? At they arent drying out right? Or will this inhibit their growth? Please help! Thank you :)
@TeaPips The jar and the sprouted are about the same with easiness. If you use a jar, make sure that you have it tilted to drain. I use a dish drainer in my laundry room, (that drains into the sink : ), it seems to have the perfect angle....and it's not in the way in the kitchen.
Thank you for this video! I really enjoy it! I like your happy and sincere attitude! Your experience with sprouting garbanzo is similar to mine, although I do it very low-tech. Ciao!
What does the sprouter do exactly? I don't have one, but it looks the same as keeping them in a bowl or something? Thanks for the vid. My chickpeas are in their 2nd hour right now.
You don't want to just let them sit in water. You need to drain/rinse them daily to prevent rotting. At least that's what I've read. I'm going to try this today and see how it works!
what is the purpose of of sprouting beans? Can you just soak them and eat them? I am reaseaching my transition to eating mostly raw foods and I am unclear about this
Sprouting releases the enzymes and nutrients for use by your body, just soaking doesn't do that. I've been blogging my experience with the raw food on Happy2BeMe dotcom...you're welcome to join me...the more the merrier : )

this is really a silly video.
it is easier than this.
and you do not need a sprouter.
and the sliminess shouldn't happen so much that you can feel it..
xlerosx 11 months ago
@xlerosx What is the easier way? I'm trying to find an easier way of doing this.
TeaPips 7 months ago
@TeaPips
Not easier.... you just do not need the "sprouter."
The sprouter is just a stack of strainers.
All you have to do is keep doing what she did int the beginning.
I have been sprouting for years.
Jar with water 8-12, strain, rinse... let stand (grow), 8-12 hours.
Jar with water 8-12, strain, rinse... let stand (grow), 8-12 hours.

The point is to give any seed water AND air.

So you dont need to cook them...
stevoe1000 1 year ago
@stevoe1000
Yes you do. Boiling them after sprouting is important to remove more Phytic Acid. It's impossible to remove it all. Check out westonaprice . org
busybuzzbuzz 1 year ago
@busybuzzbuzz No, you dont have to cook them. Only soybean has substantial phytic acid left after sprouting.

Do you really need the cloth?

Do you HAVE to sprout them? or is the sprouting only for added health benefit? would it be ok to just soak them for like...2 days? or whatever?
