  • Thank you so much for posting this video. My sister showed me how to start knitting the other day, but i wanted to start over to fix mistakes. . then realized I couldn't remember how to start it. This is the only vid I could find that actually helped. Thanks!

  • Great video you helped me tons!!!!!:)

  • Got my needles got my yarn...............now what???????????????????????? I think I would rather watch paint dry. I hate people that want you to learn to do something that you could care less about.

  • @Nanny6969 Then WHY on earth did you watch the video?!

  • Excellent tutorial, thank you. Others have got me into a right tizz.

  • I don't understand at all! Whenever I try to "pass" the loop onto the left needle the slip knot falls off! What loop? I can't see anything you're doing!

  • YES. Thank you! I AM A LEGEND.

  • Got it first time! excellent tutorial!

  • OHHHHH! U ROCK LADY!

  • verry helpful, thank you verry much!!!! :)

  • Thank you SO much for your video!! The pace at which you cast on was perfect, it was easy for me to understand. This seems like the best method I have ever seen, it makes me wonder why my teacher never taught me this way!, and now I regret I wasn't able to teach others how to do it this way! Casting on was always the most tedious and frustrating portion of knitting for me, and has prevented me from starting many projects, now I feel like I am free and able to make lots of new things! Thank you!

  • Thanks so much this video was awese! a little annoying that it didnt teach the slipknot part though..

  • Itz cool!

  • Only tutorial that helped me- thanks so much!

  • thank you my mum was to lazy to cast on for me

  • this is horrible explaining....

  • When I saw this video a few times, I thought, "That's too hard, why do so many knitters use it?" But when I tried it for the first time last month, I reliazed why; that's the best cast on method to use! Why? It doesn't use up that much yarn, you won't have to worry about twisted stitches if you're knitting in the round, and many more reasons.

  • I CANT SEE THE VIDEO AND I UPDATED EVERYTHING!!!

  • this video is supre helpful do u have more because i want to see how to do the pearl stich

  • I was just watching this video, it says "as shown before" is there a video for the slipknot part of knitting? I cant find the video anywhere, please can you put up a link?

  • @sportyjenny19 Yes please.... i dont know how to make a slipknot either

  • THANK U FOR THIS!! it makes casting on easier!!

  • lol i know HOW to knit, but i dont remember it exactly... =( hope this helps me =D

  • Thank You!!!! now I am going to try to make a wash cloth.... hope it turns out.. Thank you again, :")

  • Thank you :) this makes so much sense. How do you start a new row once you've reached the end of the cast on?

  • This is a very good tutorial. Now i can start with my Alan Dart toy. Thanks :)

  • will this work for any kind of knitting? like Purl for instance?

  • @Chickymama103 ...this works for all knitting, it doesnt matter what youre planning to make the pattern look like

  • @kazarific15994 ok thank you!

  • This was very helpful! thank you!

  • Just wanted to say thanks! Would their happen to be an example of the two needle cast on with pom-pom yarn? Thanks so much!

  • Great. And perfect speed. I'm glad this is posted!

  • i did not get that. good video just mabey a bit slower

  • @justinbplusme seriously? That was slow, how can she go slower?

  • you move way too fast. this is bull!

  • This method makes measureing the short yarn unnecessary so one does not cast on 100 stitches out of 120 stitches and no more short yarn. I find that the cast-on base is not as firm as the more traditional method.

  • @mayazazu lol, way to go to make someone feel insecure. You bully :L

  • My cousin's wife taught me how to knit with two colored yarns and I had been knitting like crazy. It was fun doing that, keeping me busy and relaxed

  • I use this method. My relative who taught me to knit called it a Cable Cast on.

  • so much more helpful than other videos thanks :)

  • Very helpful! Thank you so much! :) Sarah Neal is also a very pretty woman

  • thanks soo much this really helped me ;)

  • YEA!! Very clear. Very slow (so slow people like me can follow without getting frustrated! ha ha). thanks so much.

  • thanks this was really helpful!

  • Thank you! I was so frustrated, and this helped me a ton!

  • Thank you very much! I needed to know this way of casting on for a pattern, but my book made no sense! Thank you for very clear and slow instructions!

  • I must be dumb becasue I cant get the hang of.. I think its becasue im left handed... GUH!

  • WOW! this is the most helpful video i've seen! THANKYOU so much!!

  • @Thor2915

Really? How can a knitting tutorial be "fake and gay"? She is just showing people how to cast on!

  • Fake and gay

  • I watched many videos and couldn't get it until I watched this one Thanks so much!

  • YAAAY! This was so helpful! Thank you! :)

  • Thanks for posting this, extremely helpful. :)

  • It is even easier if you just start knitting straight out!

  • Thanks heaps! my mother has tried to teach me this a MILLION times, no joke, and now i get it. XD Thanks again

  • I forgot how to knit but this made me remember. XD

  • When you say "yarn end" you mean the actual end of the yarn? Because when I do that, I end up with the yarn connected to the ball at the bottom of all my cast on stitches and then I'm left having to start all over and figure out what I did wrong.

  • @Chahiro

You should use the yarn end that leads to the yarn ball.

  • @Chahiro

When she says yarn end she means to use the string attached to the yarn ball. You do not bother with the other end produced by the slip knot.

  • Thank you So So Much!

  • i am on my account, but my mom looked this up, and she thought it was the best! i even am starting a little bit my self. kinda fun. i am 12, so i cant pay attention for a long time. CHECK OUT MY VIDEOS! if u r the first to post a comment, u might win a prize!

  • Thank you for this. I've always used the thumb method, but I've never been happy with the look it creates. I've tried learning this method from books, but they make it sound so complicated that I've always given up and fallen back on the thumb method. I tried casting on along with the video as you explained things, and it came out perfect the very first time!

  • I don't get it?!?! :P

  • She says anti-clockwise but then proceeds to wrap it in a clockwise direction?

  • @RobotsCanNotRead she didnt wrap it in a "clockwise direction" ... she did just as she said ... anti or counter clockwise meaning the op of the way the hands of a clock would move. Excellent demo, spot on ;)

  • I just started knitting yesterday, and she seems to know what shes doing, but It seems like a little time can be saved by not removing the right needle every time. Seems to be working for me so far. I am new to this though, so maybe when I'm all done with my blanket, it will explode or something. Cheers

  • this is the worst way to cast the thumb way is better.

  • THANK YOU! I've been trying to do this for months and just couldn't figure it out. This was the most helpful tutorial I've seen. Thanks!

  • @CallieInCanada agreed ;] slow and steady and wow i did it ><

  • very helpful thx!

  • Oh. My. Gosh. This video has suddenly become my all time favourite! Thankyou SO much for the amazing help- I love knitting but absolutely SUCK at casting on- this has REALLY helped me! Thankyou!

  • The cast on is easy! I am 9 years old so that tells you that it is not that heard. But anyway, The very first time I did this I was just abou to guve up anf return my yarn ect and right as I was going to put it up I started doinh it good. So its VERY heard at first but just keep doing it. Good luck guys!!

  • I needed a stretchy cast on for a recent project. Thank you so much for sharing this video.

  • austraila??

  • Excellent video!

  • I've just started knitting again and I forgot how to cast on, this was very helpful! Thanks!

  • Thank you!

  • Thanks- this is a big help to me. I've started to knit recently and this is a huge help

  • This is an excellent demonstration of the knitted cast on. I, personally, find the "thumb method" of casting on tends to have the stitches looped around the needle too tightly, which makes knitting the first row a little difficult and ends up looking uneven.
