  • lyre tail mollies are kind of pricy as a food item. Was this for video showmanship? Goldfish in winter and bluegill chunks or crayfish in summer are much cheaper or free.

  • @InsanPalmNinja Yes, yes it is. :D

  • You have a beautiful turtle. Where did you acquire it and how much?

  • awsome men i also habe a matamata and a biologist friend of mine ones talld me that the fish does'nt get into the estomach alive the turtles troath is to small so when the turtle pushes the fish down it dies from comprecion and thats also the reason why this caind of turtle can´t get the neck inside their shell at all sorry for my writing but it´s been a long time since i learn english here in mexico bye

  • It's Bowser if he smoked crystal meth.

  • its so coo lhow he walks in the water

  • that turtle looks like a pokemon. Frikkin awesome!!!

  • @fuckgod666forlife , thanks for posting. You must check the local laws, but with papers you wont have any troubles. he eats medium fish. nothing special, but they must be alive. Greetings,

  • for a turtle that was hella fast.

  • Is that full grown?

  • @wickedninja9 not even half way there!

  • @wickedninja9 , thanks for posting, I am afraid he is only a 15% of the full size, with time i will expand the fishbowl. greetings,

  • @crgron Alligator Snapping Turtle. :P

  • greatest video ever.

  • How much do these turtles cost???

  • @SUPERSLURPZ These cost anywhere from $200-800, depending on size/rare markings.

  • @noizyme where could you get them ???

  • 1:16 ":)"

  • loved your description ;D beatiful turtle btw

  • He dont jump back in the water when you walk in on him basking....you run out the room when he starts basking lol...that is one scary turtle

  • Um, that was pretty sweet

  • get a bigger tank

  • Man that turtle is the most prehistoric turtle ive ever seen.. so cool!!!

  • do other turtles eat like that?

  • @airborne4lf no other turtles eat with their buttholes....

  • cool turtle

  • ITS SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

I always wanted to see one!!!

  • hey bro i got a queston, how does she kills the fish? i mean the fish just go live to her stomach? what if it's a mouse or a piranha etc.

  • @MuayThaixD, tks for asking, in fact the poor fish goes into the stomach alive, i think meanwhile the victim is not too big its not a problem, i guess it is like a boa, the just get compressed inside.

  • @Dreamaster72 do they have stomach acid? i have a tegu lizard, and when he was small and would eat crickets or pinkies (i rarely fed live mice), most of the time they would come down alive, if they had stomach acid i guess that would kill them, but idk. Also, can you hold these at all? or are they just a really cool thing to have in a fish tank?

  • @Dreamaster72 hahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahaha matamata

  • @Dreamaster72 sorry my laugh comment, but your matamata turtle is a great animal

  • @Dreamaster72 Owwww.

  • @MuayThaixD More than likely, the acid in the stomach breaks the fish down, killing the fish in the stomach.

  • are mata mata turtle are wild

  • Nice Matamata unlike other people who put a 1foot Matamata in a 5 gal tank :C!

  • haha you say its not the prettiest thing in the world. I think its one of the baddest as turtles i have ever seen!

  • You saw it go all the way down! And it is a pretty turtle, but the tank looks so tiny, tanks aren't too much money.

  • Very fast wow ,this turtle got stupid face xD

  • To those saying that it needs land or a bigger tank, do some research first. Matamata's are an almost fully aquatic Turtle and can only be observed leaving the water when lying eggs, also in the wild they are purely Ambush predators who hardly move. In fact captive ones are probably far more active, as such they do not have the same size tank requirements that a more active same sized turtles such as a Slider would need.

  • @methos19751 either way let the turtle choose if he wants to swim around or lay in the sun, dont limit animals....

  • @methos19751 you may be right about it not being a very active creature, but you still give the creature room to freakin turn around. in three months that turtle won't fit in that tank. they get to be over a foot you would need like a minimum what 150 gallon set up not ten gallon

  • really pretty mata mta u got there and nice setup

  • never feed matamata some goldfish, its life threatening.

  • dam hes fast

  • Its Gamera!

  • wow... wow... wow... beautiful turtle. you know I used to think these were the ugliest things in the world, but since yesterday I relised how awesome looking they are. great video :D

  • i went to japan once and dey were chee eeeeaaaaappppp dey were lyk £100 its fking ridiculous and dey had about 50

  • can u handle dese dey seem quite aggressive

  • amazing turtle.......

  • Man, I'd be pissed if my turtle was that ugly.

  • matamata's are coool{:

  • OM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM

  • It looks this this mata mata was waiting on the thunder so other fish wouldnt hear it. Lol.

  • He's quick! Very cool turtle. Love their faces.

  • Out of this planet. Amazing creature

  • I love those turtles. They are so freakin cool man. But they're very expensive. Even the babies go for over $250. Also, the PH levels have to be at a certain level, so they're not easy to maintain.

  • DAMN it snapped that fish

  • try a bigger tank

  • Is it like an asian snaping turtle? What temperarture do you have to keep the water for it to survive?

  • What a wonderful turtle, I've never seen a nicer one.

  • WOW, he looks like an underwater rhinoceraus (however you spell it)!!!!!! I thought he looked cool as hell! Go turtles!

  • Me lleno de miedo...

    Pero como quiero una así!!!

    Yo tengo 16 tortugas japonesas...

  • No offense but its ugly

  • That molly here in Puerto Rico is expensive...

  • put some driftwood makes the water more acidic good for this kind of turtle

  • what a beautiful turtle

  • well then stop responding! JEEZ!

  • try to find a bigger tank:S

  • wtf did you just feed it a molly fish? Well thats not the smartest thing n the world. Those are expensive to use as feeder fish. Anyways yea nice turtle. Buy another food supplement...

  • A supplement is something you add to food, what the hell did you mean by supplement?

  • what are you talking about? i meant food source or whatever....

  • Those are two completely different words.

  • "huffs" okay! gee! sorry! Sue me why dont you!

  • Yeah, I'll be sure to sue you over a mispelled word. You have a horrible sense of humor.

  • You know you really sound like an old lady right now....nag! nag! nag! "you spelled that word wrong!" nag!nag! "you have a horrible sense of humor"! NAG!dude...calm down!

Theres homeless people on the streets,Animals in shelters being euthanized becouse theirs simply nobody willing to make room for them , and people dying in iraq! And here you are fighting over a simple mispelled word! And why do you care! I was telling this to the owner of this video...in no way does this concern you

  • I am aware there are animals being euthanized and I am aware there are homeless people on the streets. So why don't you just calm the fuck down because when you post a text comment for everyone to see, you can expect other people to reply, jerk. Send him a PM if you only want him to see it.

  • And you are fighting over this mother fucking comment as well. It's not just me you asshole. And you tell me to calm down? I'm not the one Using explanation marks and huff, and nag in capital letters. You should really, really think over your words before you use them.

  • ugh.....are we?...ugh...are we sereously doing this come on! Listen dont you have anything else better to do then to fight on the internet over a spelling mistake. And who cares if other people are seing it? Why didnt you just leave the comment instead of responding to it?

  • Actually you're fighting over this thing also. You can't tell me to stop when you're doing exactly the same thing. And you obviously didn't get what I said in my comment. You now what? I'm done with you asshole, I'm generally not an argumentative person, and it wasn't a mispelled word, it was a totally different word. JEEEEZ!!!

  • Besides its not like people care....i mean do you see other people responding to the comment? NO! Its only you...fighting over the simmplest of things. Like their such a big deal...why dont you go sue a guy for for littering on the street or something...and mind your own buisiness?

  • Comment removed

  • it looks like a pokemon lol

  • thats exactly wat i said

  • he is so cute, and when he eats, you can see the fish going down his throat!!! eww!

  • please tell me where you can get them 8D

  • you need a larger tank. that guy should be in atleast a 45 gal.

  • dude!!!!!!!! get a bigger cage! u dont deserve a turtle u know that...

  • i like matta mattas because they have long necks and look like a dragon with a shell P.S. ive seen turtles with much longer necks though

  • yeah snappers and sidenecks can exeed 1 foot

  • Wow I've never seen that type of turtle before, it looks like it jumped out of resident evil 4

  • damn he got that thing quick!

  • poor fishy D8 cool turtle tho :D

  • i LOVE mata matas

  • Your turtle is a turtle- not a fish!!! They require a large, DRY area of land with a UV Heat bulb to thermoregulate. If you love your turtle you will provide him with what he needs.. Your tank looks clean & he appears to be in good health.. keep him that way!

  • actually mata matas do not require having a dry area like most turtles do...in their natural habitat they hang out in anywhere from 3'-14' deep water all the time...if these things were so dumb that they drown themselves they wouldn't be around today.

  • Nice turtle, mouth-breather.

  • I want one of these so bad.. they are cute as hell!

  • Throw a pokéball at it!

  • dude i want one of those turtles, too big though.... im gonna stick to my RES

  • i hope you know that your turtle is going to get up to 18 in, and that's not including the neck and head sticking out. There's a full grown one at this local pet shop housed in a pond.

  • Dreamaster72 i have questions, wat type of sand substrate do u use? wat ph do u keep? and how big is ur matamata and how big is his tank? i want to get one but i want to know as much as i can please reply.

  • @EcBuddy123 don't listen to anything he has to say about turtle care. he has a turtle that can get up to two feet including head/tail in a tank that hardly has enough water in it to mix a pitcher of koolaid. Get minimum 150 gallon tank, or better yet get a 500 gallon trough and keep it outside, best thing for a turtle this size.

  • what a cool turtle 5/5 i have a missisipi map turtle

  • Where are the eyes? Sorry I sound dumb.

  • how big of a tank do they need when theyre full grown???

  • i think at least 125 and up

  • Whats that pokemon ?

  • not the prettiest thing? I think it looks awesome. mata matas are cool. Deffinatley a cool pet.

  • hey man i agree p.s do u know were i can get one? l0l

  • yeah online. you probably dont want one though lool. Theyre pretty expensive and get really big. You can get them on the kingsnake . com classfields most are $400+

  • wow, i found some for 200 (hatchlings) they grow about the same size as a red eared slider right a little more 16 inches?

  • red eared sliders dont get that big, but mata matas can get up to like 19" and females are bigger then males. Thats probably right for hatchlings the ones I saw for like $300 or so were about 4" shells. Id assume that they need pretty big enclosures when theyre adults.

  • thats y RES's grow up to 14 inches, so thats 5 more, and yea thatis big but they look so cool, and i mean i would totaly ay for one and a big tank

  • they do look cool, and how they eat. theyre very unique. If you have the money to GET and keep a system that big then id deffinatley do it. Theyre awesome turtles. lol

  • the key word is "if" but i mean i can keep him or her in a small place ill he out grows it and by then i will have the big tank, but i only dream, their so awsome, i have two RES's doe, so 1st come 1st served, cant leave a pet 4 another

  • did he eat the fish ??????????

  • no he did not. are you blind?

  • shut up

  • The poor little fishy T_T

  • Once I can afford a huge tank I'm getting a MataMata.

  • a huge tank filtration fish decorations basking bu;lb and night bulb and you need tons of fish

matamata are Not good turtle pets they need lot of care and can grow big ass snapping turtles and overall these costs around $1500-$1600

and the turtle is expensive AND monthly water and electricity billls

  • it looks like he's smiling

  • amazing i love reptiles and especially exotics

  • a man were did you buy THE MATA MATA and how much do they cost

  • you can only buy them through specialty dealers and can range anywhere from $300 for a w/c hatchling to upwards of $600 for a c/b adult

  • that's cool I want one nice tank too

  • What a great little mata mata. I just got one myself. Mine is about 4 inches or so. In the video how big is Rocky. Also what size tank do you have Rocky in. Also about how much, how often and what are you feeding Rocky. Mine is eatting guppies right now. Thanks for any info.

  • Make the tank pretty C: go crazy ;D just remember to let it have some swimming area give enough space to move around and such turtles like to swim alot. Hmmm in all honesty for my selection instead of a 80 or a 90 i would go with like a 110gallon tank. It would provide enough land area for basking and enough swimming space and additional space to put

  • thanks a lot, I like to give a good life to my pets, the maybe should be in the wild so the least I can do for them is good food and a nice house. have a merry Xmas.

  • If you want to make that turtle happy heres what you need.

    70-90 gallon tank preferably 90g.

Assorted live animals as food(No goldfish!) use guppies, bullfrog tadpoles, crayfish(declawed),minnows, shrimp.

Provide pellet turtle food and other supplementary foods you need both live and commercially made food.

Sand would be nice(river sand prewashed and boiled).

A land area made out of either alot of rocks or drift wood.

  • amazing turtle!!! the water is so clean, rocky is happy, good job.

  • ornaments you could even make the land area nice with some live plants such as moss c: just make sure the live plants can tolerate alot of humidity. c: go with live plants that are pesticide-free! and before you put the plant in rinse it!

Also you will need some cuttlebone for the extra calcium boost and as for that you would need a good basking light. Zoomed lights work best. and as for the "lamp" go to walmart. Go specifically to thehardware section theyll sell it for like 12dollars c:

  • looks like a happy turtle to me :)

  • lol, always smiling

  • pobre pececito T-T

  • btw.. how old is your turtle?

  • Rocky says thanks, I got it in the actual size but I dont think it is more than 2 years old.

  • dude your turle is absolutely awesome! i hope i can get 1 soon.. i love the way rocky strikes.. sick suction! lol .. nice tank and the water is very clean! enjoy your turtle

  • can i put a matamata in a 20 gallon long

  • I suppose that the answer is yes if the turtle have enough place to walk and turn around, in fact they dont move very much, but you have to consider that this guys grow crazy, so in a future you will need to get a bigger tank. try with a baby (6 cm)

  • ok thanks because im getting a baby matamata in christmas the guy has it for $400 but hes willing to give me it for $350 because i buy there alot
